• The folks over at The Daily Telegraph have made the mistake of pissing off Naomi Campbell. The publication reported that the model planned to host an elephant polo match (uh… does this sound kinda awesome to anyone else?) in India with beau Vladislav Doronin. The article prompted a protest outside the venue where the match was to allegedly be held. Queen Mother Naomi, clearly not here for the foolishness, is suing the Telegraph for libel. Campbell’s lawyer Michael Simpkins says, “We are instructed to pursue this matter until it is satisfactorily resolved. The allegations caused damage to our client – apart from the widespread repetition of the allegations, there were also protests outside the venue, and Indian government departments who wrote to us.” When will these kids learn not to mess with a Quehn? • Nail Art mavens, rejoice: Nail Art Society has launched its first site, promising to “curate and deliver to your door, the latest tools, polishes, and nail accessories for you to recreate current nail trends at home.” The membership-based site has a monthly ($19.95), quartlerly ($58.85), or yearly ($219.40) membership, in which nail art fanatics can decorate as much as their hearts desire. If this already sounds pretty sweet, get excited. The site says plans are already in the works for celebrity and celebrity nail artist collabs! Think you’ll be checking it out? (WWD)
• Was the Maison Martin Margiela x H&M collaboration a flop? According to reports, the retail giant saw less than stellar sales for its latest high-profile collection. Though there seemed to be reasonable hype previous to its launch, it didn’t quite translate into actual revenue, with plenty of items still in stock. “H&M never comments on the selling of specific collections or items,” said a spokesperson for H&M. A US representative for the brand cited a higher quantity of goods as a reason for the lackluster numbers. However, others, as The New York Post reported, thought the pieces were a bit too “avant garde”. When coupled with high prices, it didn’t bode well for sales. H&M shot down those claims. (Vogue UK)
• Jewelry designer Erika Peña dishes on Beyoncé’s taste in baubles: “She loves big chunky pieces. She likes statement necklaces and mostly statement earrings. You see her usually with a lot of bangles. She likes layering, but she mostly wears my earrings. I sent her a bunch of earrings – geometric shapes – those were mostly her style.” Thanks, Erika, for saving us at least one “Get The Look” post. (Global Grind)

I knew the MMM and H&M collaboration was going to flop the day I saw the post on the pieces to be sold here on the site. The stuff was just too out there

The MMM colab was definitely a flop. I went into H&M Saturday for the first time since mid november, and they still have a ton of stock. I have a feeling they couldn’t give that stuff away. The collection was overpriced and not main-stream enough for the market. At least they know what went wrong.

I totally agree that MMM colab with H&M was a total flop. The designs were like…OK…who’s going to wear that boo?!?!?! I saw it in person and was like…there was nothing I really wanted to buy or even invest in. So, I’m definitely not surprised at all..

The only item in the MMM/ H&M colab I was prepared to invest in were the black boots with the see-through heel. The collection as a whole just didn’t quite hit the mark…

I need those shades Beyonce is wearing in that picture.

the Margiela/ H&M collab was wack as hell thats why the sales were so low…

I agree with everyone about the MMM collabo. A lot of the pieces were just simply unattractive, and the ones that were somewhat cute were ridiculously overpriced. Example: The heels. They cost $300 for a basic pump with a clear heel, yet Lanvin when it was released 2 years ago had prints/solid colors with ribbons and rhinestones that was only half that price.
The only thing that makes me happy about wasting 3 hours of my time waiting outside is that the pieces I bought sold out. :P

MMM is avante garde! Only a few people would understand and appreciate this level of fashion. It sold out in Asia (which isn’t surprising)!! I loved it and has been the 1st ever collection I was excited about… Love MMM and can’t wait for the next collaboration…

I respected the very orignal designs, but it just didn’t work for my style. The Versace collection was aaaaamamzing and well worth the overnight wait.

I really truly did love the MMM&HM collaboration but most of the pieces were avant garde like @Truth stated. I bought my brother the inside-out frayed denim jacket, which seemed to be the most wearable item.

Naomi is fire.
