That edgy and provocative woman we have seen so many times on the Gucci runway is taking a backseat to her more refined and traditionally feminine sister for Pre-Fall 2013. Inspired by silhouettes of the ’50s, Frida Giannini is channeling complete sophistication with a rich autumnal color palette and loads of texture to boot. Not to worry: this retro-influenced woman is still very sexy, though covered. There aren’t any of the fashion house’s sheer gowns from the past, but skin does peek through in very sensual, yet demure ways.
Like so many other designers for the season, Gucci is ushering colorblocking into Pre-Fall with pleasant combinations of turquoise and olive, given a punch with leopard accents. Dainty bow-detailed pumps provide the perfect complements to looks that are sweet and functional: sure to be huge retail hits.
Prints abound in the collection from Fall-perfect tartans and plaids to the aforementioned leopard which is displayed everywhere including coat collars, clutches, opera gloves, and more.
The eveningwear selections are some of the most beautiful. Meticulous attention to detail and tailoring is paid to the showstopping designs and I cannot wait to see stylish stars like Kerry Washington, Li Bingbing, LaLa Anthony, and others try on the ensembles for size.
What do you think?

Very mad-manish/Jackie O. The pieces are nice but I honestly can’t see myself in any of this on a woman under 40. Maybe someone like Solange can pull these looks off I definitely can’t.

love the lace dress with the olive lining , that neckline /decotellage us doing the most for me. I can’t wait for a South African winter.

Some nice pieces but like @Crystal said, this is no good look for most women before their 40′s. Too retro for me.

I’m 25 and would wear almost every single one of those pieces. I’m so tired of seeing “video vixen”every time I turn my head.

They have delivered on all counts with this collection. I am seeing the need for a tailored leopard print coat in my collection lol. I love how they can make a woman still look desirable and sexy, while still being fully clothed. Traits of a truly talented design team. The turquoise, olive, and black combination is everything!!!!

That olive/turquoise color combo is the same one finalist Emilio Sosa used in season 7 of Project Runway and they judges said it wasn’t sophisticated. Brotha was ahead of his time (and he was my favorite to win)…

yes to it all!!!
