Happy Monday everyone!
Thanksgiving and Black Friday are just days away, so the only things on my mind are stuffing my face and shopping!
The 2012 American Music Awards went down last night and had more than its share of showstopping looks. From neons to leather, nothing was off limits.
Let’s get into this weekend’s looks shall we?
Nicki Minaj was one of the night’s brightest at the 2012 American Music Awards in a neon draped trumpet gown from Monique Lhuillier’s Resort 2013 collection. One of her many blonde wigs, pink lips, and amazing statement jewelry finished her look. This would be dynamite without the wig!
Brights were also on the menu for Kerry Washington who opted for a yellow long sheer sleeve dress from Stella McCartney’s Resort 2013 collection with coral pumps. This was a beautiful shade on Kerry and her hair and makeup looked divine, but the silhouette was a little matronly no?
A Fall 2012 embellished and felt appliqué dress from Naeem Khan’s Fall 2012 collection was the look of the night for Kelly Rowland. She completed her ensemble with Gucci sandals and an Eddie Borgo bracelet. Hot!
Brandy looked radiant in black and gold.
Swizz Beatz repped for the men in a $1,695 Alexander McQueen Bluette Wool Suit Jacket and matching $685 Bluette Wool Suit Trousers. Shoes would have been a nicer choice than high-top sneakers, but we all know that Swizz loves his kicks!
I almost didn’t recognize Tyga! He looked pretty dapper in red, I wasn’t a fan of his $1,495 Christian Louboutin Rollerboy Spikes Loafers with his suit, but he definitely gets an A+ for effort!
Chris Brown kept it very simple in a hoodie, quilted leather jacket, denim, and sneakers, though he did try on some huge gold rings for size. I can dig it!
More leather! Usher went for all-black in a leather-sleeve sweatshirt and pants at the awards show, where he won Favorite Soul/R&B Male Artist. Loving his sunglasses!
Jordin Sparks went high-fashion in a patchwork print gown with sheer panels from Etro’s Fall 2012 collection. Hmm…I’m not sold on this.
Disney cutie Zendaya Coleman wore a $596 Alice + Olivia Bergen Dress for the night. Adorable!
Can you say curves? Christina Aguilera looked amazing in a gown from Pamella Roland.
Clearly J. Cole keeps up with the trends. His oxblood coat was a great look!
Will.i.am went for a retro-inspired ‘fit in gold and black leather.
A camo puffer vest offset Tristan Wilds’s all-black ensemble. What do you think of his black nail plish?
I live for Gwen Stefani and she wore a look from one of my favorite collections of the season: Balmain. Work Gwen!
Heidi Klum served in a gold guipure lace dress with strong shoulders, sheer panels, and a side slit from Alexandre Vauthier’s Fall 2012 Couture collection.
One of my favorite looks of the night belonged to Taylor Swift who sparkled in a mini dress from Zuhair Murad, paired with $775 Jimmy Choo Latin Metallic Leather Sandals.
Rihanna partied it up in Stockholm after the latest stop on her 777 tour in denim, camo, and what seem to be those beloved Tom Ford Padlock Pumps.
Nude was the shade of the night for Rita Ora while out and about in Paris. Simple and chic!
In Miami, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian kept it cute. I like the way Khloe paired her Givenchy Rottweiler Tee!
Mariah Carey wore her natural curly ‘do and a black draped gown at Nickelodeon’s Teen Nick Halo Awards. The silhouette ages her a bit, but I do love her curly hair.
Along with Mariah, Nicole Richie was on hand at the Halo Awards in a hippie chic look. Cute!

LOVE Kelly Rowland and Taylor Swifts’ looks. Brandy’s ensemble is interesting. Kerry Washington is getting so thin :/
This would have been a hit for Nicki (for once) if she had just worn her black hair. The blonde wig makes such a glamourous gown look so wacky.

The third option (stay chunky and dress like you’re still skinny) really hasn’t been working for her lately. I’m over it.

Both Nikki and Kerry would have benefited from having the hems raised. Nikki by just a few inches, so it looks like she isn’t swimming in the skirt. Kerry could have the hem raised to mid thigh to avoid the matronly look.

Kelly looks great; Brandy looks radiant but I don’t like those booties with that dress (too much going on); Gwen looks great (now THIS is the look Rita Ora is attempting and missing so many times)
Agree with the Nicki comments – she looks so pretty in that black bob wig or hair style she used to sport. The blonde wig, uber bleached out skin, too long hem & high heels that she can never seem to walk in made her look clownish.
Kerry – PLEASE EAT SOMETHING YOU’RE GETTING SCARY SKINNY! The color is the dress is gorgeous against her skin color but her entire styling looks like it’s for a 70 yr old woman.

I actually like the wig on Nicki. I think it keeps the dress fun as opposed to glam, making it more appropriate for the AMA’s.
