The stars hit the red carpet at the 2012 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas and the looks were as showstopping and glitzy as the city itself. From sequins to bold hues, nothing was off limits!
Let’s get into the night’s ensembles:
Jamie Foxx was easily the best dressed man of the night.
Melanie Fiona tried on the white lace trend for size in a leg-baring mini dress from Isabel Marant, a vintage eel skin clutch, and Versace sandals. I needed a nude lip and clutch and a sleek chignon or ponytail here. Sigh.
Estelle went for embellishment in an asymmetric shoulder dress, red lips, and strappy wedges.
Floral was the print of the night for Kat Graham who looked cute in a one-shoulder dress with a thigh-high slit. Those shoes were not the best complements, so let’s pretend that they never happened ok?
Ready to drool? Tank and Ginuwine played twinsies in grey suits and sneakers. No, their footwear was not cute here at all, but who really cares with faces like theirs?
Ne-Yo opted for his usual fedora/high-top sneaker ‘fit in grey.
One of my favorite looks of the night belonged to Goapele. She offset a white jumpsuit with $930 Giuseppe Zanotti Pyramid Stud T-Strap Sandals. Hot!
Elise Neal was the lady in red at the awards show in a long-sleeve cutout gown.
Miguel gave us Prince tribute concert in a blue suit and black turtleneck. I slightly get it, but then I don’t…
Marsha Ambrosius was definitely on-trend in a sequin bomber and leather pencil skirt. Cute look, though I think she could have ditched the belt.
Most Improved Award of the night goes to Lil Mama who was virtually unrecognizable with blonde hair, a strapless gown, and curve heel wedges. I’m speechless!
Claudia Jordan looked beautiful in a one-shoulder kelly green gown.
I can’t say that I’ve ever seen Paigion before, but the actress did look cute in a $100 Zara Bodycon Leather Detail Dress.
For a little throwback action, SWV was in attendance.
Angie Stone looked slim and trim in cobalt, denim, and shimmering pumps. Clearly, Jennifer Hudson isn’t the only one on the weight loss tip.
A pair of $795 Valentino Suede Cap Toe Suede Pumps gave a bit of color to Debra Lee’s casual ensemble.
Crooner Luke James looked great in a tux.
Leopard gave some life to Alesha Renee’s simple look. Not sure why she chose nude shoes here…
MC Lyte attempted to sex it up in a sheer blouse. Hmm…
Jody Watley served effortlessly with her hair blowing even through there was no breeze. Pay homage!
Faith Evans brought some glamour to the awards show in a $398 BCBGMAXAZRIA Anna Sequin Shoulder Evening Gown. Gorgeous!
Last, but not least was Eric Benet in a suit from Rolled Out of Bed Designs. He’s lucky he’s cute!
Who had your favorite looks of the night?
