• Ann Romney has been making appearances on the campaign trail wearing pieces by designers–Diane von Furstenberg, for example–who are staunch Obama supporters. Fox News’s ‘Pop Tarts’ blog writer pointed out that while Thom Browne proudly tweeted when Michelle Obama wore one of his dresses to Monday’s night’s debate, Furstenberg was silent about Mrs. Romney’s patronage. Pop Tarts theorizes Anna Wintour is to blame for the shade: “Many [are] questioning whether or not outspoken Obama supporter Wintour is keeping stylists and designers away, silently threatening their standing should they endeavor to promote their outfitting of the wife of a Republican presidential hopeful.” Hmm… maybe! But while these high-end designers might not feature Mittens’s wife, it seems Ann has a friend in Isaac Mizrahi. The designer told Hollywood Life: “I would love to see Ann Romney in more of my clothes, I’m just going to be bold face and say that.” (Hollywood Life)
• Mario Testino says nobody wanted to cast Gisele Bundchen during her early career. Say whaa–? ”Nobody liked her, nobody wanted her,” he told The Observer, “I had to fight to get her into my stories because nobody thought she was right—too this, too that, the nose, the breasts, the waist. But I believe in being obsessed, in getting obsessed.” (Fashion Etc.)
• To coincide with the release of Abram’s book about Vogue editors’s influence on American fashion, HBO will air a documentary bearing the same name. The windows will be unveiled at Harrods’ Knightsbridge store come November 1st. (Vogue UK)
