Quite a few of our readers wrote in with fab and fly plus-size inquiries.
First, Denisha says, “…I am a plus sized female who works in retail. I love to be fashionable because I live by the motto ‘you are your personal billboard.’ Yet, I’m having an issue choosing chic outfits that’s comfortable enough to get me through a day of school and work. I want to try wearing heels but I’m afraid after two straight hours due the intensity of footwork being done, that I would be barefoot showing off the fresh pedicure.”
As far as footwear goes, if you’d like to gamble on heels, it doesn’t get more comfortable than a pair of wedges. If not, how about a pair of oxfords?
Need more options? Head over to Torrid and Style369 and skim through their items. You can also check out the widget below.
Next, Nimah writes, “I am in desperate need of a serious wardrobe overhaul…not sure if a wardrobe even exists right now. I just wear the same stuff over and over and I need to spice things up. Challenge: I’m 5’11, plus sized (14/16), and I only wear full length skirts and dresses due to cultural beliefs. Basically my attire is modest- I don’t wear high-heels that much and i like stylish flats and kitten heels. Can you help a 36 year old busy mother & wife become the stylista she was in her 20′s??”
But of course! I found a couple of cute dresses over at Fashion To Figure that you might want to try on for size. This $32 Building Blocks Maxi Dress can be paired with a leather jacket to keep warm in the fall.
We couldn’t leave the men out of the mix! Jordan, says, “I’ve seen some guys rocking the colored denim/pant look, and I am looking for a pair for myself. As a Big & Tall guy, I’ve been reticent to try this because I wasn’t sure if it would look right on me. However, I believe the right color in the right cut will serve me well. Would you be able to help a devoted male Fashion Bomber out with this request?”
Though I was unable to find colored denim, I did come across a few options for colored pants. The most important thing to keep in mind is the fit. A tailor is everyone’s best friend! As far as styling goes, you can start by pairing these $74 Orvis Salmon Surfwashed Pure Cotton Twill Chinos, with a black button shirt. As you grow more confident, give stripes some shine.
There you have it! I hope this helped. What are some other shops that I may have left out?
