• Beyoncé is poised to seize the nation’s collective lacefronts as this year’s Superbowl Half Time act. An anonymous source tells the AP that the big news will be officially announced on Wednesday, and the show will probably include appearances by Jay-Z, and Destiny’s Child singers Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams. • Gareth Pugh has designed a portable bar for the Elton John AIDS Foundation. The design is a black cube that unfolds to reveal a hidden bottle of booze, and compartments for other drinking accoutrements. Pugh has also teamed up with Grey Goose to create his own cocktail: “Like the look of the bar, I wanted something very simple and stripped-back- no bells and whistles. So, we’re doing a simple, classic – and perhaps quite hardcore – vodka over ice, but we’re also going to include some optional flavouring additions with it too in case you want to jazz it up a bit – something take the edge off.” (Vogue UK)
• It seems YSL is finally as tired of their more than year-long court battle with Christian Louboutin as we were months ago. The brand has moved to dismiss the counterclaims they filed against Louboutin over the ruling upholding Louboutin’s red-sole trademark. (The Cut)
• Tyra Banks isn’t the only fashion notable planning a scripted series about her life. It turns out Rachel Zoe also has a comedy show in the works, which, according to DEADLINE.com, “centres on a fictional alter-ego of the stylist.” The show, dreamed up by Zoe and her husband Rodger Berman, is written by Aseem Batra and boasts the leadership of Emmy Award-winning director Todd Holland. • Conservative political commentator Glenn Beck is the latest famous face to try his hand at fashion designing, with his new line, 1791 Denim. Beck started the label last year after famously vowing to never wear another pair of Levi’s in protest of the brand’s “Go Forth” ads, which he said “associated… America and working-class values” with ”global revolutions and progressivism to sell their products.” Because, you know, revolting is un-American, and progressivism has really proven to be a detriment to the fabric of our nation. Beck is now adding more denim options to his range which is available online. The shock jock is emphasizing the ‘Made in America’ slant in order to appeal to his loyal right-wingnut fans– the line is produced at a 90-year-old factory in Kentucky. Beck is obviously very proud of his new endeavor. He says in a video for the brand, “These were the first American blue jeans…built at a time when things were timeless, a time when you knew things would last, a time when people worked for their dreams and their dreams worked for them.” Ah, yes, 1791– the good ‘ol days. When all men who counted for more than 3/5 of a person were allowed free range of Native lands, and their pick of slave women to stitch their blue jeans for free.
