Its cool that they used Aaliyah as a muse & i do see the influence on the shoot, however I dont think it was completely executed.

i think they did a pretty good job.if Aaliyah was alive today.i can definitely see her rocking these outfits,if she still had the same style she came out with.

Some of the clothes look like something Aaliyah would wear. However Sessilee, herself, is not giving no type of Aaliyah. IMO only Aaliyah can do Aaliyah.

OMG you guys took the word our of my mouth. What a disaster. Somethings are indeed better left alone. I cannot believe Sesilee went for it. She cannot chaneled Aaliyah one bit. Major fail on their part.

How can you do Aaliyah without her infamous swoop?
I can see the Aaliyah influence in the styling (kudos), but they completely missed with the hair.

i agree with the ppl who said it could’ve been executed better.if Aaliyah was still alive i could see her probably rocking these outfits.it’s just not the same though.nobody could do it like babygirl.rip!

I am going to disagree with the majority of everyone else that responded.
I like it.
I don’t think the intentions were to EXACTLY mimic Aaliyah’s style. It’s more of a reminiscent approach, to take on “snippets” or her style. I also liked how they did not use a model that exactly looks like her, and instead using a darker skinned model. I think it would have been too cheesy, and a bit “costume-y” if they would have used a model that looked Aaliyah.

I agree with you @Rella its not suppose to look exactly like Aaliyah, but its more of an editorial photography approach. This is common in fashion editorial. For example its like Alicia Keys did a photo shoot dressed just like Michelle Obama, or Liya Kebede dressed up like Pharrell, or alek wek like missy elliott, Karolina Kurkova as Marilyn Manson, etc, etc, etc.

Yeah too much teeth action and Aaliyah did’nt wear her makeup that dark… Idon’t recall. I’m sorry nope on this one…shoulda call Ciara in for this shoot she’s got that dancer swag to pull it off.

I would of much rather seen Jourdan Dunn or Chanel Iman. Sessilee’s look, though beautiful, is too exotic.
