The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: New York Fashion Week Even More Diverse Than Last Season, Lulu Johnson to Launch Her Own Clothing Line, and Which Middleton Lady Does Karl Lagerfeld Find ‘Sexy?’
By The Fashion Bomb Staff

• New York Fashion Week was the most diverse it’s been since 2008. While (duh) 79.4% of runway slots went to white models, Asian models took 10.1% of the spots, black models represented at 8.1%,  Non-white Latina models came in at a sparse 1.9%, and models of other races were cast in 0.5% of open slots. Oscar de la Renta has a supporter in his public read of New York Times fashion critic Cathy Horyn. Lady Gaga took to Twitter to let the world know where her loyalties lie: “@OscarPRGirl Bravo Oscar. Only you would be so chic as to purchase an entire page in WWD, making statements like a good fashion citizen.”  This isn’t the first time Gaga has come for Cathy. In the September 2011 issue of V magazine, the pop star harped on the notoriously harsh criticism the writer often doles out: “To be fair, Ms. Horyn, the more critical question to ask is: when did the pretense of fashion become more important than its influence on a generation? Why have we decided that one person’s opinion matters more than anyone else’s?” Tell ‘em why you mad, Ms. Germonatta! (WWD)

Betsey Johnson‘s daughter, Lulu Johnson, has announced plans to launch her own label, “Lulu and Allison” with best friend Allison McCellen. Johnson says the line will have the spirit of her mother’s unique aesthetic, “but we did tone things down and kind of make them more modern.” Check out the pair (Bets and Lu) in this adrable video interview. Anna Wintour‘s restocked the Runway to Win shop with new items by celebrity “designers.” Show your president some love by copping a paisley printed scarf by Kerry Washington, or one of Beyonce‘s baby onesies. (Fashionista)

Karl Lagerfeld might not be a fan of the Middleton sisters Pippa and Kate, but he’s made it known which Middleton he’s here for: Carole, their mom. Lagerfeld told Grazia what he thinks about the 57-year-old matriarch: “I think Carole is very sexy. I think the mother is sexier than the daughters. There is somethign full of life about her. For a woman who must be 50 or so I think she’s great. Full of energy.” Welp! Now we have that information. (Grazia)
