The Fashion Bomb Reader Satisfaction Survey

    by Claire

No blog is an island–especially not the Fashion Bomb!
We take a lot of cues from you guys when it comes to content, and love to check in every year to see what works, what doesn’t, what’s the bomb, and what could be better!

Please take a moment to fill out the survey questions below and leave a comment if you have anything else you’d like to add.

Bonus points if you can also divulge what other sites you love to visit, what feature you enjoy most (and least!), and what you would like to see more of.
    Thanks!!

I wish we could have selected more than one option for what drives us to visit the site! It was hard to choose just one.

Anyhoo, other sites I regularly subscribe to and visit daily:
      Necole Bitchie
      Music Fashionland
      Talking With Tami
      The Jasmine Brand
      The YBF
      Straight From the A
      House of Chapple Blog
      The Fashion Fiend

Most of the other sites I visit are real style blogs — where people show their OOTD. Most of which are former Fashion Bombshells :-)

I enjoy the What to Wear features the most, and the articles where you show the fashion spreads the least.

I love love love the what to wear style inspiration piece and would love to see more of it! I love the fashion bomb daily as well.

I visit Refinery29, whowhatwear, Fashionista, and Elle with the most frequency. I enjoy the Fashion Ispiration pieces and would like to see more industry interviews not only with established industry veterans but with up and coming people in various facets of the fashion industry. Also some street style that isn’t so contrived would be nice.

I agree with mamareese as well, you guys do a WONDERFUL job. The only thing I would love to see more of is street style and style inspirations. Not that I don’t love celebrity style but, lets be honest here, there aren’t that many of us that can actually afford our favorite celebs clothing (or willing to spend it all just to get the look), but speaking for myself, I would like to see options for more affordable looks that are similar to those celeb looks I know we all adore. IMO.

Truthfully, I think you guys do an amazing job when it comes to posting several times a day, and keeping the material up-to-date and fresh. I agree with mamareese; there is only so much you can do in one day.

I have noticed that there have been a few posts here and there that seem like they weren’t really necessary (i.e. Rihanna in the most casual wear ever, lol), but other than that I would say most of the content is great.

Other sites I visit are personal style and beauty blogs, WhoWhatWear, Refinery29. FBD is the first site I check everyday, and several times a day. I enjoy the “Real Style” features (including “Bombshell of the Day”), as well as the “Celebrity Style”. Overall, I commend you and your team, Claire, for doing such an awesome job. I love the growth of this site!

I love the site…. I just don’t really like the personal opinions. Like when you say things like “who is black chyna again” I think that’s being sarcastic. And if you aren’t being sarcastic and really don’t know you should have a celebrity fashion blog….

I visit FBD everyday… My favorite part is when Claire does “Cool Online Finds”. I enjoy taking inspiration from other blogs where people showcase their every day style. I also would love to see some more features on affordable fashion choices. I will drop some bread on shoes or a bag, but that is not on the regular! The other sites I frequent are stylepantry.com, brooklynblonde.com, and gabifresh.com.

I absolutely adore this site. It is by far one of my favourite websites. I also think you guys do an awesome job with having multiple posts per day. My one gripe is that you tend to see the same people on here everyday. I dont think there has been a day (let alone a week) without Rihanna. It can be slightly disappointing to see endless posts on her sometimes very lackluster style. I LOVE that you guys have been giving us more posts on Asian fashion (like Fan BingBing etc) if we could have more in that arena or maybe African fashion (like Nollywood fashionistas) or even South/Central American fashion I personally would greatly appreciate it. I also really miss Danielle’s beauty posts. Sorry for the long post and I think you guys are doing an incredible job.

I feel as if you all do a really good job of providing a little bit for everyone. One thing I would like to see more of is affordable options. I am a struggling student! I think Claire and her team are doing a fabulous job.

My only complaint is the array of stars featured on this site. I understand that you have to feature the big stars regularly to satisfy the masses and to attract traffic. However, I wish you would feature an eclectic mix of black celebrities of personalities. I mean people like Oroma Elewa and Shingai Shoniwa are doing very interesting things with fashion but they never get any attention. Instead, we get an onslaught of the regular Rihanna posts every single minute. Diversify a bit is all I’m saying.

      Strengths:
      • content
      • speed of coverage
      • Style Inspirations
      • look for less

      Weaknesses
      • grammatical errors
      • site design
      • some of the “celebs” featured
      • lackluster bombshells

      Opportunities
      • trend watches: I emailed earlier this year about nude shoes and was redirected to a post from…2009. All the suggestions were gone. It’d be nice to just update them.
      • Inspired Style: instead of doing a million posts on Emily B’s godawful bodycon affliction, why not just do ONE post on her style & some suggested pieces.
      • Blog Watch: some amazing bloggers don’t know that FBD exists. Why not seek them out & profile them?

As for style blogs, I only keep up with The Glamourai, Atlantic-Pacific & Nu Sophisticate.

I love that FBD is reliable and DAILY has new articles/posts/fashion to inspire! The feature I enjoy most is “What to Wear/Style Inspiration” (LOVE your selections, Claire!) and the feature that I like the least is the Fashion Celeb Tweets (they are sometimes informative but the photography (cell pics) often doesn’t match up with the quality of this site and if I want to check someone’s tweets, I head to twitter *shrug*). Still overall LOVE Fashionbombdaily though – visit this site the MOST. :)

The other fashion sites I love to visit daily are:
      * http://www.wheredidugetthat.com (the British edgy style is inspiring)
      * http://www.wendyslookbook.com/ (Wendy has impeccable style and great photography on her site)

I like what you’re doing so keep it up. Also, please set up comp links bc I often buy items that I see on your site

I love the FBD, I have been reading for a couple of years now. I do wish the styling options could be more a bit more affordable since alot of readers are either college aged or young professionals.

Also sometimes the celeb style posts can be a bit redundant. For example, there will be Kim K posts back to back to BACK, Emily B posts back to BACK, or Lala posts back to back. I also think featuring more up and coming designers, stylists, or even models would be a good addition. I really like interesting in hearing success stories. More street style would be great too.

Other than that, this is my go to site for all the fashion news. You guys are doing a great job.

For the most part, I love the site. The only thing I will say is that there are so many urban celebrities, you don’t have to go to the same ones every day. Sometimes it’s not even blog worthy but I feel like you guys put them on here just to fill content. I prefer quality over quantity. Some overdone/overused celebs are Lala Anthony and Rihanna. Not everything they wear is incredible. I trust your staff’s opinions and would love to see more celebs who may not be mentioned as much. I bet their style is different from the expected.

Can I also say I LOVE the Claire’s life articles? And also Fashion news. I go no where else for fashion news. You told me YSL was changing their logo! lol Not that I buy them, but I need to know that. I love that aspect of all fashion, including the news.

Love the site…wasn’t an option but I’d like to see the site and it’s fashion features back to a more sophiscated or fashionable look. It seems like a lot of the wardrobe queries/mail bombs are clothes chickenheads would wear.

Like seriously, over time this site predominantly features the likes of Emily B, nicki minaj, and draya…i guess that’s fashion, but it’s skewing the audience to be a bit cheaper (not affordable, but actually cheap looking), like now it seems maybe the majority of the viewers might shop at wet seal, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

My favorite feature is the interviews. I’m still toying with the idea of doing something fashion-related when it comes to my grad school aspirations, and having real-life interviews with people who do what I want to do. I think maybe banning comments on certain celebs and just letting people vote would make it less confrontational on the site. I mean, each time Emily B is featured, somebody clowns about her weight, face, lifestyle etc and it takes away from what she’s wearing ( which I do believe is the main point of featuring her anyway?) BTW, saw your retweet of her comment about us not liking her…DIED laughing. The girl has great self-esteem ^_^

I also love the fashion news segments! Keep those coming.

Overall, think you guys do a great job. I too would love to see more street style. Think Essence’s street style with your own FDB “twang” to it. I also think less of the overexposed such as Rihanna, Rita Ora, Lala, Kim K. I tend to see posts when they’re walking in a plain tee, jeans and sneakers and think to myself “really fashionbomb”. Also think the commentary of some of your team can come across as being a bit sarcastic and rude at times. I try to limit my internet time but other sites I frequent are Style, Essence and karla’s closet.

      Keep up the GREAT work!

      I like to visit:
      Essence
      The YBF
      Clutchmagonline
      Meek~n~Mild
      Gabbi Fresh
      Ebony
      Curly Nikki

Visiting the Fashion Bomb Daily is a highlight of my day. I get great ideas from the What to Wear/ Style Inspiration feature. I love most of the images in the Snapshot feature, but I always want more when there is only one photo. I would like to see more of What to Wear/Style inspiration. I am a bit fashion challenged and your website is helping me improve my style. Also, I like the graphic design of your website, specifically the pictures that form the moniker.

I don’t know if you guys have already done these sorts of things, but I’d love if you’d do style inspirations/celebrity style of classic fashion icons (Josephine Baker, Diana Ross, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, Lena Horne and the like). Or just maybe staples of various decades and how to modernize them. I’d love more beauty posts too, and more photos of your(the staffs’) outfits. My favorite feature is probably the fashion bomb daily. I’d also maybe try to reduce the number of Splurge posts if the item(s) isn’t really that special.

I love FBD! You could update the layout, if possible bring back the beauty post, and the cool online finds are great. However, my style game is increased so much since I started visiting your website over two or three years ago.

Hey Claire! I think you all are doing an awesome job as everyone has said. I visit a couple of other style blogs but they are personal style blogs. I have yet to find another blog comparable to yours that features majority black celebs so you to me you have a niche. Also if there are others similar reply and let me know. But dont get it twisted you number 1 so I will always keep hittin FBD up. My least fav section is Snapshot unless of course solange is featured. That chick is the epitome of a Fashion Bombshell. If u can find similar idividuals witg her style that would be great. Im done.

I visit the site daily. I love the what to wear, Looks for less and FBD posts. I miss the beauty posts and celeb style files. My only gripe would be the long, run-on subject lines of some of the posts. It takes away from the sophistication of the site. Other than that, keep up the good work!

I visit FBD often so much so that I think that they have blocked it on my work computer :) Anywho I love your site I do love the what to wear but wish that you find some less exspensive one more often for ballers on budget (like myself) I also miss the beauty and makeup post those were pretty cool. Also you inspire me to become a blogger…. although I have yet to get it off the ground but when I do you are one of my style inspirations……. Kudos!!!!

I am truly a style newbie. Reading responses encourages me to take risk in my wardrobe. I think the site is awesome also in that the style on the site is not limited to size (-2) models or specific stereotypes of models.

The only thing I would like to see improved is history search ability. Sometimes I’ve seen things on the sight and I have to search back 100 or so pages to get to it. This may at times take hours to find. Though the taps help, they are not always as helpful as one might think.

      Keep up the great work.

      Sincerely,
      Style Newbie

I enjoy the mail bombs and would like more beauty posts as well. Adding more street style and developing other features would be great too because even we always know what to expect each day on the site.
Also, less style posts of the editors. That feature is not appealing.

      J’adore FBD c’est ma préférence mode! ;-)

I just love the fashion news, bombshell of the day, snapshots, claire’s life (it’s just amazing and inspiring to see Claire rocking her style with such fierceness!!), fashion bomb tv (mooore please!!!: but with better sound editing or a mic would work wonders).

I co-sign the: less Lala & Rihanna… Christina Milian: she’s gorge but most of the time irrevelent. In terms of celebrities I was really happy to see asians. Let’s keep on the ball rolling and more Latinas, African, Caribbean and add more fashion extase from all over the world!!!

Maybe feature more of the quirky styles. I know FBD is more of a urban flavor, but it’s always nice to see alternatives (i.e. sexy styles not involving bodycon dresses or heels possible or hmm? lolll)

Keep up the good work! I’ve been a fan for a little over 3 years i think. Bisous de Montréal!!! :-)

I woulf love to see more beauty/makeup related post as well it doesn’t have to be a daily feature but I do miss reading about the latest skin and makeup trends. And more fashion discussions PLEASE I live for those because I love reading people’s perspective even if we differ but other than that I love this site.

It would be nice if you didn’t run the entire headline/sentence together. It is annoying to have to read everything and have to decipher if part of the title is the event and which part starts is the beginning of the clothing.

For example you could show it as:
Hot! or Hmm…Serena Williams’s “13th Annual BNP Paribas Taste of Tennis ” Theory Contrast Waistband Skinny Pants and Christian Louboutin Summerissima Sandals

I appreciate that you are asking your readers for their opinion because I have been wanting to rant about this for a while and now I feel better. LOL!

I do think the site is great already but I think some things would be:
      - contests – ex. readers can compete for recognition (or maybe a prize) for doing thrift store looks, or $50 or less looks and others can vote.
      - a wider range of options for different price points
      - more street-style
      - comment moderation
(the anticipation of negative comments sometimes make me avoid certain posts)
      - showcasing a wider variety of people as inspiration.
(it’s exhausting and unoriginal seeing Kim K., Rihanna, and vh1 reality stars on all the blogs)
      - promoting positivity by avoiding snippy comments about people. I understand it’s “your blog” but it’s just not really beneficial and it gets the ball rolling with some of the negative comments

      Other sites I visit:
      nitrolicious.com
      bleachblack.com
      manrepeller.com

I do love the site and thank you for it. I understand it’s alot of work to do this and even if nothing changed I’d still be a regular visitor.

I love the site. A few suggestions:

      * update the layout
*improve search capabilities (temptalia’s google search is awesome)
*feature other celebrities than just Kim K, Emily, Lala, etc
*turn off comments on fbd, and maybe make stricter criteria
      * look for less( under 100 please, because not all of us can afford some of the things you post)
      *more of your personal styles
      * get rid of this week in tweets (sorry Jihan)

I read this and temptalia daily.

      I enjoy the site a lot…

I just think the commentary on the posts that are done by Jihan are unnecessary and lacking in skill. It carries a ‘hater-esque’ vibe. Theres a fine line between humorous and dull-witted.

Writing stuff like “getting her yaki wet for her new video” or that whole Rasheeda bit is just out of control. I know there’s a lot of work put into this site, but honestly its going to go unnoticed and not be held to a higher esteem with menial flaws such as this.

Blogging is a form of journalism, and when your site is as popular as it is, its about neutrality. You can offer amazing and entertaining work while doing so.

I’m late, but I heart this site and visit almost daily. I’ve been reading since 2008 and have noticed a little more personality which is great. The Claire’s Life posts are super, but sometimes the comments from the staff can be a little snippy.

I understand sometimes people ask silly questions or don’t follow directions, but sometimes people also forget, don’t pay attention, or are genuinely clueless. People will be people and spicy remarks from you guys can be offensive or unattractive (e.g. the Kelly Rowland back singer comment or the bombshell shoe game comment).

Any whoo, more beauty trends and “how to” posts would be great. Also luv the cool online finds feature.

      Great Job!

Keep up the great work! x
