Hey Hey!
It’s time for Bombshell of the Day! Take a look at Bintu from Philly:

She writes, “I would describe my style as Afro 70′s soul Vixen meets pin-up girl. ”

“As crazy as it sounds!”

“My family is of West African descent and often times I incorporate that into my style.”

” I’ve been infatuated with the women of the 70′s and pin-up era for as long as I can remember.”

” Women in the 70′s were classy but sexy and edgy…”

“… and pin-up girls just want to have fun!!!”

” I enjoy the polka dots and high waisted anything from that era.”

“[I have a] talk show [that] airs on Comcast in Philly right now and online. I hope that you are able to tune in
(www.youtube.com/buzzklub)!!!!!”

I’ll check you on out! I definitely see the 70′s influences. And that picture of you in the African print dress is all kinds of fierce, honey.
What do you think of Bintu?

I don’t really get ‘pin-up’ (1920) from the looks. I can certainly see the 70s pimp…I personally love the pinup style…(for example vintage victory rolls, knee-length pencil skirts…)
I do like the striped vintage dress.
August 23, 2012 1:12 pm
*BARF* Her color palette looks like throw up…..but really.
August 23, 2012 1:23 pm
messy mess. she just needs a little direction.
everything is just…too much
August 23, 2012 1:33 pm
*sigh*
August 23, 2012 1:34 pm
I am all the way confused. What is going on here?
August 23, 2012 1:38 pm
Yes maam, yes maam….i can dig it. The hair is fab and you are giving me life in that african dress/color block shoe pix. I see some pieces that I like also.
I love philly and a baldie so I am not mad at all…
August 23, 2012 1:40 pm
The only look I liked hands down was the magenta, black and cream striped dress and the cream shoes. I like when fashionistas are influenced by an era- just don’t look as though you just stepped out of it. I also do not see pin-up.
August 23, 2012 1:47 pm
Love her shoes that all i can say
August 23, 2012 1:56 pm
That african pic is the bomb hands down
August 23, 2012 1:59 pm
I am living….hear me? LIVING for that photo of her in the African-printed fabric outfit. It is so amazing and I love her hair cut. FIERCE, girl!.
August 23, 2012 2:00 pm
Well, Hmm..umm…..What you cant do is label her a Zara..F21, ASOS type girl….very ECLECTIC styles….very!
August 23, 2012 2:10 pm
I’m speechless… not in a good way though.
August 23, 2012 2:15 pm
Whhooo Chile!
August 23, 2012 2:24 pm
Cray Cray…
August 23, 2012 2:47 pm
Although I do not see “pin-up” (maybe she has more in her closet that isn’t pictured here) I think she looks great! Deffinately different, which is always good. Tribal print is awesome.
August 23, 2012 2:47 pm
I like some of her pieces, very cute.
August 23, 2012 2:48 pm
I love it! I love the 70s African mash up! Lots of originality and those green color block heels are to die!
August 23, 2012 2:59 pm
Its really nice outside
August 23, 2012 3:00 pm
I can definitely see the 70s in some of her clothing! I <3 the 70s
;0) I love the african dress with the leopard print detail in the shoes…too cute!
August 23, 2012 3:05 pm
sigh :-(
August 23, 2012 3:05 pm
She is doing thee most. There were a few cute things about 2
August 23, 2012 3:08 pm
NOT feeling her look at all, BUT…she looks fly w/the baldie.
August 23, 2012 3:09 pm
1920-1940 = pin up…
August 23, 2012 3:18 pm
i know nothing about the pinup era but I like the scarf outfit… (7th picture). More south african than west tho. =O
August 23, 2012 3:27 pm
Voted better luck next time, not really my style and a bit to un cordinated to me.
August 23, 2012 3:29 pm
She reminds me of Neyo.
August 23, 2012 4:05 pm
Dynomite!
August 23, 2012 4:10 pm
She perfectly described her style, and I voted her a bombshell because she owns it! I don’t really see many others dressing like her, and its refreshing to see something different. I wouldn’t particularly dress like this, but her style is definitely inspiring me to dip into some 70′s myself. Bombshell!
Blessings
August 23, 2012 4:29 pm
When the looks are well executed, they are impeccable. I get where she’s going, and for the most part, the execution of her style ideas is on point.
August 23, 2012 4:42 pm
mmm……. I get where she was trying to go with it, but it wasn’t a successful effort. back to the drawing board.
She gets pointers for originality.
August 23, 2012 4:46 pm
Bintuuu!! I love her and my HU fam! :)
August 23, 2012 4:49 pm
Her style is FIERCE! That African print dress with the color block shoes is dope! Go girl ;)
August 23, 2012 5:17 pm
Mess! I’m sorry the second pic with the hat and the dead dog fur let me know this was NOT going to be a pretty sight. She tried.
August 23, 2012 5:58 pm
i just threw up my lunch……..the colors look like barf……
August 23, 2012 6:12 pm
she just needs to be more polished
August 23, 2012 6:12 pm
The pic with the African attire is hot, can’t really get into the rest.
August 23, 2012 6:43 pm
Is this a “say something nice challenge?” If it is then, I loved her shoes in atleast 2 of the pics. #Thatsalligot!
August 23, 2012 7:01 pm
Kudos for originality! Her styling could be a bit more refined though.
August 23, 2012 7:06 pm
He’s clearly an original and I LIVE for individuality! Go girl!!!!!!
August 23, 2012 7:07 pm
SHES*******
August 23, 2012 7:24 pm
This is clearly a joke! You’d think Claire was skinny the way she act like a mean-girl posting these poor souls up here for all to ridicule.
August 23, 2012 8:26 pm
I love her originality , I think she looks good, she’s not afraid to wear what she desires , and not dress like everyone else
August 23, 2012 8:36 pm
I like her style!
August 23, 2012 8:51 pm
Oh the horror!
August 23, 2012 10:01 pm
I hope I’m not presumptuous is speaking on behalf of us all, but I think our dislike of a few bombshells is not so much their looks, but lack of…realness. Most pictures seemed contrived (not what some of them really wear daily.) Ive been following Fashionbomb since its beginning, I think to capture honest / real style, Fashion bomb should resurrect its Street style segment…whadyathink?
August 23, 2012 10:23 pm
Werk it girl! Many people seem to oppose her style I guess because it is not the usual Rihanna, Kim K, but kuddos to her for owning her style and going against the grain. A+ for being an individual and not a carbon copy.
August 24, 2012 1:13 am
hmmm… different!!!!
August 24, 2012 2:59 am
I don’t know what’s going on here. But I liked their styles, they’re all look beautiful even though their fashion was not good in view but for me they are still beautiful. :)
August 24, 2012 9:36 am
@Abbie
I totally agree with you.
August 24, 2012 10:05 am
@Abbie:
Well this is a pretty tough crowd, so I can understand why some bombs come with what they consider their best selections or not everyday wear. I have to say, I did’nt realize she had a buzz cut until someone mentioned a baldie….my bad. I like where she’s going with her look and would rock a few of the pieces. Go on head girl!
August 24, 2012 10:16 am
Bintu has always been creative since the first day I met her on Howard’s campus. She uses fashion to express who she is and what she likes. She is confident, which is a character trait that a lot of people lack, hence the comments below.
August 24, 2012 10:18 am
*Excuse me, comments above.
August 24, 2012 11:38 am
I love all the pictures, ur way of style is so unique and ur individuality says alot about your personality… Keep reaching the top is not far away…

August 24, 2012 11:43 am
Ur West African style is hottttt…..
August 24, 2012 12:37 pm
her style sense ages her up tremendously.
she looks like an old woman.
I understand the vintage thing but perhaps it would be age appropriate if she got a tailor to fit her clothes to her petite frame
August 24, 2012 3:39 pm
Nope…unh unh.
August 24, 2012 5:43 pm
Bintu these haters mad because you have the confidence to wear what they can’t…. I liked a lot of your outfits and the African outfit… OMG it was beautiful! Unique works for you… I say “GO GIRL!!!”
August 24, 2012 6:44 pm
YES!!!! I’m loving everything about this bombshell. I know Bintu personally, and she is the definition of a daring, confident and fashion rebel! She’s not afraid to push the envelope. I congratulate her style and confidence…not many have the balls to do what she so effortlessly does. WORK! ~Miranda
August 25, 2012 2:28 am
Very Creative! Love Your Color Matching Chooses!
August 27, 2012 10:46 am
She looks gorge! Love the African print dress…
August 27, 2012 10:49 am
her clothes are too big for her. She should go down a size or get her stuff tailored. start obeying the rule less is more, too.
