• Legendary Cosmopolitan editor Helen Gurley Brown died yesterday at the age of 90. She served on the Cosmo staff from 1965 until 1997. Brown is credited with bringing sex to the forefront in women’s magazines in a time where the idea of a woman enjoying sex was taboo. She penned Sex and the Single Girl in 1962, a tome which set the mood for open, honest discussion about women’s sex lives.(NYT)
• Two time gold medal gymnast Gabby Douglas hit the Tonight Show With Jay Leno to chat about her Olympic win, and what she’s been up to since she made a splash at the London Games. Douglas chatted with Leno alongside First Lady Michelle Obama, admitting that she’d “splurged on an Egg McMuffin at McDonald’s” after her historic win. Without missing a beat, the First Lady teased, “Egg McMuffin?” Yeah, Gabby, don’t encourage him. I’m sure it was on a whole wheat McMuffin.” Hah! I’m sure it wasn’t! (Celebrity-gossip)
• Lady Gaga is PETA’s newest celebrity target, after the singer was spotted shopping in an admittedly fabulous (though woefully out of season) pink mink coat. Gaga previously told Ellen DeGeneres that she doesn’t wear fur, yet these recent photographs prove the opposite. PETA senior vice president Dan Matthews wrote a letter to the pop star, slamming her for her hypocrisy: “What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it’s fake, or are you a turncoat?,” Matthews writes. “Many gays are animal advocates because we recognize that the same arrogance and indifference that some have toward animal suffering has at times been directed toward us personally because of our orientation. PETA has long participated in Pride events around the country, and just last week, we helped lead protests against Chick-fil-A. But by wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you’re making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian. As we plan our fall campaigns, please tell us whether what you gracefully told Ellen was heartfelt or just a pose.” Do you think Gaga owes PETA an explanation? (Fashion etc.)

1. Why in the flying fawk does Gaga owe ANYONE an explanation. I love Animals but these people put more value on them then a human being … Unnecessary . She can wear whatever she wants, PETA doesn’t earn her money …. And I can find 1001 facts on how much of PETA are hypocrites! They SLAUGHTER a huge amount of animals EACH YEAR. Look up the facts people! They all need to eff off and let Fashion prevail.
