• The kids are coming for YSL Saint Laurent Paris over their new logo. After posting a shot of a box bearing the brand’s new logo to their Facebook page, hundreds of YSL enthusiasts commented to express strong disapproval.
One commenter said, “The new logo is ratchet…. Horrible” while another quipped, “Everybody with Microsoft Word could have ‘designed’ that logo.” Ouch. Will this tepid reception motivate Hedi Slimane to dream up a different logo, or return to the original one? What do you think of the new branding? (Vogue UK, YSL Facebook)

• Um, so in addition to shooting videos with LBC native Snoop Dogg, Karl Lagerfeld apparently dabbles in street performance art. Vogue.com contributor Alison Mosshart says she spotted the designer while dining at a Parisian café: “…he was sitting outside on a bench on the pavement almost like a statue – it was the most amazing thing,” she mused. “People kept walking by, sitting down next to him and having their photos taken and then they’d get up and walk away. He didn’t say a word.”

I kind of understand why Hedi wanted to mix up the brand but why not create an offshoot or a sub brand for him to remix the logo?
Taking something so iconic like YSL (that is still so relevant and on trend today) and completely changing it is such an odd move. I just dont get WHY. Does he honestly think it will benefit the business or does he actually want to ‘shrink’ the brand and make it less mainstream?
Its like Coca Cola or Nike coming up with a new logo…

Yall only hate it cuz its not the obnoxious YSL logo yall are used to & want to have plastered across your tshirts. It wont be as obvious for people to recognize your “Baller status”, right?

As a Huge fan of YSL shoes that do not display any logo with the exception of the footbed, I think that changing the logo is silly and there are many way to re-brand without getting rid of the brand logo.
