they copied off Death Row back in the 90′s. they won’t be able to touch that good music back then. and new religion, please, this has a demonic feel to it to me. and speaking of fashion, it isn’t giving me anything, but eerie, is that Mos Def, i can’t believe he is on there?
July 23, 2012 2:24 pm
They’re pushing it. lol I’ll leave it at that.
July 23, 2012 2:25 pm
Where do you see Mos Def? That definitely would be a shocking addition to this clown college.
July 23, 2012 2:33 pm
I have to agree with Mikele. I’ve always been a big fan of Kanye and all of Good Music, but he continually makes it harder for me. But this is between them and their maker.
July 23, 2012 2:38 pm
Wait, Q-Tip is on Good??
July 23, 2012 2:44 pm
What in the wack hell is this? I can’t anymore..smh. Anything to sell. This is tasteless. Why are Q-Tip and Common even associating themselves with these other dudes? I thought they were on another level… Slowly but surely, their true colors have been showing. They are robots too. I hope Lupe stands firm..
July 23, 2012 2:45 pm
They have all been branded… Now they are puppets.
July 23, 2012 2:53 pm
I’m confused….G.O.O.D. is composed of some of the most critically acclaimed MCs out right now. The work they contribute is making hip hop exciting again. Don’t let these blogs confuse yall about Kanye, dude is a musically genius & Cruel Summer will be CRAZY.
July 23, 2012 2:53 pm
They didn’t actually pose in cross formation (although that would be hilarious to witness). This cover was put together by art directors, and graphic artists. Granted ‘ye probably had to sign off on the concept, but let’s be careful about where credit (or blame) is placed.
That being said, I was a huge ‘ye fan, but there’s something about his newest endeavors that rub me the wrong way.
July 23, 2012 3:01 pm
Funny, these photos reminded me Queen’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” video more than the Death Row Vibe cover. And I like the direction these labels are going with the whole “crew” thing. It reminds me how hip hop was back in the day. Being an MC in a crew was more so common than being a solo artist. YMCMB, MMG, G.O.O.D., even Bad Boy are all doing it. I like the unity.
July 23, 2012 3:05 pm
Wow… it looks like y’all had a tall glass of haterade this morning…Sheesh
July 23, 2012 3:10 pm
I’m so confused right now… I am a fan of lots of different styles of rap don’t get me wrong, I listen to commercialized rap, but in moderation considering my setting and mood. This is because “commercialized rap” is all about being drunk/high, loose women, and material things.
So Im trying to figure out, regardless of Kanye’s beats, what will 2Chaniz and Q-tip talk about on a song together? Or Big Sean and Common… the caliber and content of the rap isn’t the same…
Lastly, was it just me, or did it seem like they were tying to convince us along with themselves that this would be a great project?
July 23, 2012 3:26 pm
I totally agree w/ LawyerChic… I like the collabo with all the artist b/c they all have different rap styles…Peeps are hating and haven’t even heard anything yet…Like 4real!!!
July 23, 2012 3:29 pm
In G.O.O.D we trust? lol no. I personally find it tasteless as well.
Now to why it may have a “dark” feeling, It may be because of the photos are inspired by Gothic art. Gothic art was used scare the people in Europe to believe in Jesus. Maybe that what they want from us. Now as to the blurry/streaky photos, I have no idea (maybe to make them look like spirits?) I personally just find them distracting.
July 23, 2012 3:33 pm
@Brooke.. Exactly! I don’t see what Common has in common with any of them, but Q-tip. I thought he was a “conscious” rapper. It seems thrown together in the studio. I’m just tired of the money schemes that’s all.. Nothing is genuine now days.
July 23, 2012 3:43 pm
If you knew more than “commercialized” rap you’d be able to point out more than the MCs who’ve had commercial success. Cy-Hi the Prince, Pusha T, D’banj, Mr. Hudson (all photographed) have been around for years and had huge critical success on their owns. Oh but all yall see is 2 Chainz & Q-Tip because they’re recognizable. Mind you, before you bad mouth 2 Chainz he’s also been a staple in the underground for years. Just because you heard a few songs on the radio don’t get it confuse. LAST, since when does being on the same label mean you have to be on a song together? 2 Chainz & Common might not ever be on a song. smh everybody wants to be a critic, but don’t even have the knowledge to judge accurately.
July 23, 2012 3:46 pm
@ Mimi, they may not be on a song together.. but they are on this cover together. I just thought more of Common.
July 23, 2012 3:50 pm
I was about to go in but I remember this is a fashion blog. They don’t know better. *goes the global grind for legit hip hop opinions*
July 23, 2012 3:53 pm
Yeah, I should have kept my opinion to myself too.. Today’s Hip Hop isn’t even played in my home.
July 23, 2012 3:58 pm
50 Cent and Soulja Boy were on a cover together & have nothing to do with each other. XXL puts out a Freshmen edition every year featuring rappers who’s musical content has nothing in common soooooooo?
Thank you for admitting that you have no idea what you’re talking about.
July 23, 2012 4:14 pm
Wowww! The signs of the end of Days are so obvious right now. Those who believe it’s only art are truly sleeping big time. “New religion” for a “New World Order” maybe? They don’t even hide anything anymore. Teyana and that left eye. Kanye (pic 2) showing is channelled by “entities”. The 3rd pic is a blatant ode to masonery with the pilars and the guy in the middle doing the masonic chest hand symbol…oh well, they are some types of prophets for “him” so more power, money and fame! (and you wonder why Kim K. looks so”off” and “dark” these days…)
July 23, 2012 4:25 pm
Aaliyah covered her left eye, OMG she was a part of the Illuminati too!!! *sarcasm* If you believe all of that you’re possible the one who needs prayer nut! This is how mass hysteria starts. Dumb people with a little bit of info.
July 23, 2012 4:30 pm
I’m just here for 2chainz
July 23, 2012 4:39 pm
@Ohreally? If you believe differently from others that’s fine. but why call them “nut” or “dumb”? No need for the name calling.
July 23, 2012 4:45 pm
@Yes Indeed… that’s exactly what Arya sounds like. A nutty dumby.
July 23, 2012 4:47 pm
Wow!! With the garbage that’s out, I would think people on here would appreciate this spread. I guess not!!! #Haters
July 23, 2012 4:48 pm
Lol at Teyana Taylor… maybe that half of her face in the background will legitimize her as an artist, lol.
IMO, everyone’s right. Yes these are religious, masonic and gothic images. Could it be that Kanye West knows that these are the controversies that surround him and is using these controversies to stir up publicity? It ain’t that deep, y’all…
July 23, 2012 4:51 pm
@Ohreally? To you maybe. I’m sure that you’re able to express that you disagree with her sentiments without calling her name. I’m not defending her (don’t even know her) but I don’t understand why people feel the need to attack people they don’t agree with.
And can we please, for the love of Fashion, retire the word Hate/Haters. Everyone is entitled to their opinion – that doesn’t make anyone a hater.
July 23, 2012 5:14 pm
I don’t really think anybody bad mouthed any of these rappers; but more so, we are just giving an opinion. When artists are on the same label, they do tend to do A LOT of features together. I think that was most ppl’s initial thought. Especially since both “conscious and commercial rappers” are shown in the video together, it looks as if they will be supporting one another’s content… right… or else why would you want to be on a label such as this? That’s why I said clearly “That I was confused”.
Also @MiMi, simply calm yourself. I have heard of the other artist pictured, but was referring to some of the artists featured in the video interview. Not the portrait. Thanks for clearing this up for some who may not have known though.
AND lastly let me just say this, I don’t really care to familiarize myself with every single rapper. What is it that they have they done for me?? uuhh oh thats right, nothing. Nobody should be upset about comments on here. lol. If you like G.O.O.D. music then great! Say that you like it, and stop piggy backing off of our thoughts. Say why you think the collaboration will be awesome and keep it moving. STFU with the subliminals.
July 23, 2012 5:15 pm
@Yes Indeed….why are your feelings hurt because of a comment directed at someone else? Possibly minding your business will allow you to feel less offended. Just like they’re entitled to their opinion so am I. And to me that opinion sounds nutty and dumb. Anything else?
July 23, 2012 5:18 pm
@Brooke you should just concede at being wrong like Indigo.
July 23, 2012 5:19 pm
Ohreally? lol. You are absolutely correct. smdh. Make sure not to cry when people insult you as they’re entitled to their opinion. lol
Have a great life.
July 23, 2012 5:24 pm
Mimi,go take a nap…smh
July 23, 2012 5:39 pm
lol.
I will concede MiMi, with pleasure! I cease with the obtuse back and fourth about a collaboration of rappers. Who cares really? I dont give a crap. Not many f*cks at all.
#YouWon and I hope G.O.O.D. Music label goes on to change lives, fix the monetary system, cure diseases, end child hunger, and create world peace all mankind.
July 23, 2012 5:46 pm
My work is done here.
July 23, 2012 6:23 pm
the work done vs. the work being done is most important to me.
July 23, 2012 6:33 pm
How many f*cks you supposedly don’t give is evident by how many times you’ve responded. Responding to me is what’s important to you *Hands over extra f*ck for you not to give* >;-)
July 23, 2012 6:56 pm
Since when did religious beliefs have anything to do with secular rap music? If you don’t like the connotations, I’m sure there are plenty Christian rap artists to choose from.
July 23, 2012 6:59 pm
Meant to add this: They are clearly just playing off of the “Illuminati” scare (which what does that even mean) and the fact that people are becoming more aware of some of the truths behind different religions…
July 23, 2012 7:11 pm
I see the reachers are reaching
July 23, 2012 10:50 pm
In G.O.O.D. we trust? New religion?…. WOW….
July 23, 2012 11:14 pm
Cool, can’t wait to here the album.
July 24, 2012 12:08 am
Kanye’s music is making me yawn now a days with that i’m tha sh!t with
My Lamborghini regurgitated BS and I have always been a fan what
Gives with this uninspired crappy music. I’m so glad the newer creative guys on the scene are making way better music.
July 24, 2012 2:36 am
G.O.O.D Music
can’t wait for the album!
July 24, 2012 10:48 am
Why the haters, I love it.. this is a great selection of artist…y’all will be dick riding soon…do ur thang goooood music…#peace haters
July 24, 2012 2:53 pm
Wow at people getting butt hurt of G.O.O.D music. This is why I hate celebrity worship. Y’all better be on their payroll.
July 24, 2012 2:55 pm
*Hi fives Jihan*…I’m here for him too, girl, lol.
But am interested to see what the music is going to be like, especially from Q-tip and Common, since they have a “different sound” from the rappers of today.
July 24, 2012 10:12 pm
@Mimi Do even remember why 50 Cent and Soulja Boy was on the cover in the first place? They interviewed them together (if u like, I’ll remind you why) so they had alot to do with one another… As for the freshman rappers cover, thats just showcase new rappers trying to make a name for themselves so they have something in common, all trying to make a name for themselves…THIS cover above is actually about a label coming out with compilation CD…. Like when Murder Inc did it, as well as Roc-a-Fella, as well as Bad Boy ANNNDDD YMCMB !! And guess what? Alllll those artist were on songs with each other… So yes Common may do a song with Big Sean or CyHi Da Prynce (not prince) may do a song with 2 Chainz …. CyHi da Prynce has not had critical success of his own (although I wish he did, he’s really good) people don’t even know he’s been had 3 mixtapes out sadly before his new one… SO him, D’banj, and Mr. Hudson he’s the white guy for all you guys who may not be familiar he’s the singer on Hov’s Forever Young song… These guys do not have commercial success yet. So please Mimi don’t bash people on here because you got a couple things wrong yourself. I know about hip-hop just as much as you do, maybe a little more… But what I will agree with you on is Cruel Summer is gonna be crazy
July 25, 2012 4:31 pm
Everybody give @Danni a round of applause for being able to google!!!! How long did it take you to analyze all my comments and try to find counterpoints? You sure do know more than me…..more about googling that is.
July 25, 2012 4:33 pm
Excuse me….I mean give Brook around of applause for coming back after doing her homework. *Fucks she gives now…10*
July 26, 2012 12:07 pm
This has nothing to do with the illuminati, for all we know it doesn’t exist. However, what is very relevant is their blatant disrespect for the Christian religion. Blasphemy, continual comparisons to Christ, denouncing his power. We can’t speak on what we don’t know, but we can be oberservant to what is shown to us. You nod your head to the beat, and quote every song word-for-word, but what are you really saying?
Rick Ross: God Forgives I Don’t
JayZ: “Jesus can’t save you life starts when the church ends.”
Kane West: “Jesus died or us, but I couldn’t tell you who the side was.”
Meek Millz: “I don’t even believe in God.”
It’s not just between them and God. You listen, you repeat it, you’re involved.
July 29, 2012 11:35 am
Why the illumniati references…I’m so over it and can’t even listen to that music and I if they are just using the illuminati as a gimmick they should be ashamed…i like the JESUS Walk Kanye way better #GODSTeam
