Keeping in the trend of his collection for Resort 2013, Riccardo Tisci drew inspiration from the lives of free-wheeling Gypsies for Fall Couture 2012. For the sake of the craft, of course, Tisci imagined bohemians who have a taste for the luxe and ornate, but still a lingering nostalgia for traditional fare.
This collection conjures images of Gypsy royalty. A blanket wrap velvet cape is made luxurious with its ornate print, a romantic floor-lengthed leather fringe gown is toughened by detailed weaving, fur-trimmed dusters are embellished with smooth stones, cropped fur jackets bring a rustic simplicity all the while.
The standout piece is this black halter neck gown attached to a beautifully-draped fur-lined cape. It’s a look fit for a shaman at a woodland winter solstice celebration.
I can’t help but imagine these looks on the characters in Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings. The old world sensibility, the regal yet woodsy feel of these pieces scream ‘period piece’ to me, of course, in the chicest of ways. I imagine we’ll be seeing serial Givenchy wearer Rihanna in that draped black gown.
What do you think?

Not my cup of tea fashion wise but the pieces do look really luxurious. But I love that they used models of color to showcase the work!

Been a Givenchy fan since MJ studded jacket in 09 -love the embellishment, the plush fabrics, very regal* the embroidery& lengths read ancient but the drapery provides femininity/modem touches~

I actually like this look. It looks very African Queen. If you look at old pictures of African royalty I guarantee you will find some similarities.
