This year all our favorite fashionistas have found themselves with one common denominator: ankle strap heels. From sandals, to peep toes, to wedges, they have been snapped strutting in it all. My tender heart quivers at the sight of a pair of sickening heels, and of course I had to pass on my lust to you. Peep the styles below:

The Sandal: These strappy stunners are so simple in design, yet they manage to make a statement. Whether you choose to keep it as the minimal piece among a busy print like Rihanna, or go all black everything like Kim Kardashian, the shoe maintains its sleek appeal.
The Wedge: Perhaps best suited for the fashion lover not too keen on stumbling in mile high stilettos, the wedge exudes its own air of cool. Who better to rock this than Angela Simmons and Queen Bey?
The Peep Toe- This style is a bit more refined. It has a feminine delicacy that can be easily uplifted when paired with intricate garments as seen below on Solange Knowles and Zoe Saldana.
The Platform- For those of you who love the luxury of elevation that heels tend to provide, platforms will be your heaven. Those straps should be good for some extra balance. You can take the more subtle approach like Eva Longoria, or go daring in a pair similar pair found on Tika Sumpter (P.S. Tika, girl, how did you keep from falling?)
Which style is your favorite? I am willing to admit I am in love and thoroughly committed to those sandals.

I love a ankle strap sandal. IDC if everyone and their mammy are wearing them, I still love Zara’s I Basic Sandal. I need them in black, but they’re sold out. Anyone know an affordable, very similar looking alternative??

I love the sandal but I’m a platform girl, and hubby is 6’1 so I like to be up there with him; but I’m going to have to test new waters and buy a pair because they look lovely.

I have many pairs of ankle strap sandals and wedges. I’m not a fan of platforms since I’m tall. I like Solange’s shoes the best.

I also wish you’d features the lovely Ashley Madekwe and her TopShop ‘barely there’ ankle strap sandals, I’ve had my eyes on them for a while and can’t wait to hit up TopShop Oxford Circus to try them out

To me, the ankle strap shoe can complement you and your outfit really nicely or really poorly so this type of shoe is a hit and miss with me in general. But I am feeling some of the styles, except for the platform.

@LawyerChic you and I are on the same page. I’m so mad at myself for not getting the i Basic sandal from Zara in black. I have the red/fuschia colorway and love them! Zara has great ankle strap sandals at an affordable price. Love this post!!!

Do you have the info on Eva Longoria’s dress?

LawyerChic & Kisja – try Tibi ‘Amber Heel’ which have a thinner strap across the toes and of course a different range of colours and the same with the Steve Madden ‘realove’ or Micheal Kors ‘Ysable’ which both come in a beautiful patent black (one of the things that put me off about the Basic heel was the width of the toe strap…and that they didn’t come in leather). I have a pair of the Zara sandal with laminated straps and I’ve seen a blogger who removed the middle strap and it looks great too though I’m almost considering flying halfway across the world to Australia for the Tony Bianco ‘Karissa’ and ‘Nala’ sandals

ankle straps are wonderful…so nice to see a post dedicated to them.

Nine West also has some ankle strap heels that look pretty good

I love ankle straps on other women but I have odd calves and the strap makes my legs look very short and kind of stumpy (even though they are not). Ankle straps are not for everyone, I usually avoid them as heels without the strap elongate my legs and don’t highlight my “interestingly” shaped calves.

I think H&M just put up some new ones on there site …colorblock strap platforms for like 35 bucks

I’ve always loved the simple yet chic style of the ankle strap stiletto sandal. So glad I didn’t let the platform craze talk me into getting rid of the ones I had. Now I just need a great pair of black ones like Rihanna and Kim.

Does anyone know where I can purchase the same celine black strap ankle sandals worn by Kim Kardashian & Rihanna???
February 12, 2013 11:35 pm
Why is Rihanna always inspired by the “cheap prostitute” look?
