Charisse writes, “Hi I’m Charisse I would like to know what to wear to my son’s eighth grade graduation on Friday I live in New York.”
Hi, Charisse! Are you melting into a puddle like the rest of us in this New York inferno?
At any rate, graduations typically call for more demure attire. Be sure not to show up in anything too flashy; you wouldn’t want to steal the spotlight from the graduate. Opt for outfits that are comfortable and practical; giving your sky-high stilettos a hard earned breather.
My first choice is a floral maxi. With the weather peeking in the mid-nineties this week this option is easy to pull off while simultaneously keeping cool.
The Chamak by Priya Kakkar purple earrings bring out the floral detailing in the dress, and are cute without being too fussy. Then we have the nude sandals and bag. Both items allow the garment to be the center of attention. Finish the look with a coral mani, and Givenchy cat eye shades.
Next up, I decided to go with a shorter, solid colored dress from J.Crew. This look is for the fashion conservative, the one not looking to delve too far from her comfort zone.
I added the Kate Spade yellow necklace to help compliment the dress. The white bag keeps the look clean, which then allows the printed wedges to become the selling point. A mint manicure helps to pronounce the colors found in your shoes. Adorn your face with these Tom Ford round framed sunglasses, and you’re good to go!
Lastly, I took inspiration from yesterday’s 50’s vibe, and FLOTUS, Michelle Obama. This white and green dress is a stunner, and exudes effortless class.
I wanted to include two earring choices, because I was torn between the beauty of them both. The Giuseppe Zanotti heels paired with this Rebecca Minkoff clutch is a sure win. Top the look off with a pale coral lip, and you’re set!
Congratulations on your son’s graduation, Charisse! I hope you liked my selections!
