Resort season is when Mara Hoffman shines. The designer is known for her bold prints, flowy caftans, and must-have swimwear but for her latest Resort 2013 collection, her focus is on ready-to-wear, giving her fans some styles to wear day in and day out. What Hoffman does best is pair functional, yet flirty silhouettes with affordable prices and she does that here with cutout maxi dresses, cropped blouses, figure-flattering wrap dresses, strapless cocktail party-perfect frocks, and so much more.
A plethora of prints are presented from blue paisley to colorful tribal prints, assuring that the Mara Hoffman woman will stand out for the season.
One of my favorite patterns in the collection is an earthy animal print on a pair of high-waist shorts, a strapless calf-grazing dress, and other more form-fitting styles: all looking absolutely divine against model Ajak Deng’s glowing skin.
Hoffman also excels in simpler designs, whether relaxed embroidered maxi dresses or even a cutout LBD, that might just be seen on Estelle or Christina Milian, who both have worn her dresses in the past.
Next to Tribune Standard, this is one of the most wearable collections for the season and I could literally pull any of these styles from the bunch and wear them right now. I really enjoyed the robust offering and the simple staging of the designs, really letting the styles play centerstage and showing just how retail-friendly they are.
What do you think of Mara Hoffman’s latest collection?
