The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Muhammad Ali for Louis Vuitton, Victoria Hearst Pushes Ban Sale of Cosmopolitan To Minors, and Kanye West’s House Gets Robbed

    by Jihan

    • Muhammad Ali is the new face of Louis Vuitton. The legendary boxer will appear alongside his young grandson in the brand’s “Core Values” ad. Okay, let’s get this out of the way: SQUEEL! That little boy is too adorable! (Vogue UK)

    • Narciso Rodriguez is launching a diffusion line with Kohl’s, due out this fall. (WWD)

    • Rich kids are sometimes inclined to rebel against their parents, and Victoria Hearst, daughter of Hearst Corporation founder William Randolph Hearst is no exception. The born-again Christian wants the publisher’s raciest title, Cosmopolitan, to be sold in a non-transparent wrapper– and only to adults. Ms. Hearst cites the glossy’s risqué headlines like “Sex He Craves” and “Um, Vagina, Are You Okay Down There?,” as a reason why minors should be protected. She set up a Change.org petition (in which she accuses the glossy of peddling “porn tips” to our youth) to help further her campaign. What do you think? Are Cosmo’s headlines too racy? Are they inapropriate for minors? Should they be censored? (Observer)

    • Liya Kebede will show her pre-fall offerings (ready-to-wear and home wares) for Lemlem on Saturday at the Surf Bazaar at the Surf Lodge in Montauk. (WWD)

     • Kanye West was forced to beef up security at his Los Angeles home after a break-in early Wednesday morning. At around 6:30am, thieves made off with some of Yeezy’s posessions, although there is no information on exactly what was stolen. I’m guessing perhaps a few pairs of extra Yeezy 2‘s he had lying around? (Celebrity Gossip)

“Turrble” photoshop job on Ali. Yeesh. I do feel Cosmo is too racy for our young girls. They are definitely over sexualized, which causes unfortunate ramifications in several life areas but are they going to start asking for ID to buy the magazine? I doubt it.

Bad photo shop or not, Muhammad Ali for Louis Vuitton is major! Cosmo’s headlines are racy, but so is everything else these teenagers buy and listen to. It’s up to the parents to monitor their intake.

Totally agree w Hearst. I remember a friend of mine buying that mag in junior high and passing it around. It was pretty much a classed up porn mag! Lol

I think those Mohammed Ali/Vuitton ads are quite tacky.

Victoria Hearst’s face is the only thing that shouldn’t be allowed on the cover of Cosmo magazine. She is too much for me and that magazine is lame and most women don’t read that magazine after 21 anyway. Trust me, Cosmo is NOT the reason why young girls have sex. And poor Ali…that photoshop is disturbing but I am glad he can still make money.

Oh good Lord I never read a Cosmo mag and thought oh golly I need a boy to try it out. Contrary to what bible-bashing Christians want to tell people it isn’t books, magazines, TV, movies or videos or music that influence minors it actually is peer pressure from friends or schoolmates. Should we ban friendships and schools?

The pic may not be all that, but the fact that M. Ali is facing LV is everything! Lets not loose sight of that. Loving the Cosmo cover… Nicki looks normal, but still has her edge! Would love to see her like this more often.

That pic of Ye’… #DEAD loflll

Can we acknowledge that Ali is getting on in years and has earned the right to a little visual nip-tuck? Besides it’s not like they photoshopped him into the photo with his grandson, and having him as the face of LV is a big deal and one to be proud of. Cosmo is way too racy and I think it should be banned simply because I think it’s a tacky mag ( I also think US Weekly, National Enquirer and World New Report ought to be banned too). I wonder if they did steal some Yeezy’s from Yeezy though…
