Tribune Standard is a new brand on the block, but it is already making its presence felt throughout the fashion world with its adherence to expert craftsmanship and elegance. Tawfik Mounayer is the brain behind the line and has a wealth of experience including coveted titles at Liz Claiborne, Gap, and Ann Taylor, thus he knows a thing or two about design and how to get clothes into women’s closets. His latest collection for Resort 2013 is incredibly sweet and refined and gives life to the phrase “when life gives you lemon, make lemonade” with a large-scale lemon print, recapturing the fruit trend that was so big for Spring 2012.
For a bit, the designs transported me to the 1950’s with a lace cardigan and a-line striped dress combination, as well as an off-the-shoulder red form-fitting frock that brought to mind old-school movie stars like Lena Horne and Dorothy Dandridge.
Modernity was captured in the collection’s high-low shirtdresses which could be pulled off the models and placed in stores right now.
The most classic looks were Mounayer’s blouse and cropped trouser ensembles. Not only were they perfect for mixing and matching, but he showed them on models of real-life proportions, showing us that his designs do indeed look fabulous on women of all shapes and sizes.
Though simple, this is one of my favorite Resort 2013 collections thus far. Can’t you just see yourself being able to wear each and every one of these looks? Clearly, Mounayer knows how to make a woman want to shop and you can definitely feel the influence of Ann Taylor and Liz Claiborne in these very functional and feminine designs. I can see these on a ton of celebrities with bold footwear and accessories so here’s to hoping someone tries them on for size this year.
