• This Week in Chic: The 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Jay-Z, Rita Ora, and More!

The 2012 Cannes Film Festival is the place to be this week! Aside from the films, the festival really is about high glamour and showstopping gowns, meaning we’re keeping track of each and every look. There were also some other big events happening worldwide from Philly to London and stars really did get dressed this week, though you’ll have to be the judge on whether they worked it or not.

Check out some of this week’s hottest looks:

At the 2012 Cannes Film Festival, Eva Longoria stole the show in an embroidered gown with a tulle train from Marchesa. She pulled her hair up into a tousled updo and accessorized with simple stud earrings. This is a far cry from her everyday simple and chic looks and I love it!

Freida Pinto chose an original design from Michael Angel, featuring a colorful crystal bodice, a pink draped skirt, and a thigh-high slit. This gown surely has a lot going on, but Freida definitely pulls it off! I’m even liking her $1,120 Louis Vuitton Odeon Sandals.

Nicole Scherzinger opted for all-black in a breathtaking gown from designer Cengiz Abazoğlu’s Haute Couture collection. For beauty, she chose a bouffant updo and a deep red lip. Work Nicole!

Eva and Freida made another appearance at the Film Festival’s Opening Night Dinner. For her second look of the day, Eva wore a gown from Alberta Ferretti’s Fall 2012 collection which was quite covered. I definitely liked her first look better, though the gown is exquisite.

Freida chose a Versace gown featuring long sheer sleeves, sequin embroidery, and a thigh-high slit, which is clearly her new detail of choice. Another beautiful gown, but this dress seems to be wearing her.

Jay-Z announced big news of his very own “Made in America” Music Festival in Philadelphia. He looked fresh in a white v-neck tee, tailored blazer, and Air Yeezy 2 Sneakers. I’m feeling his looks of late!

At the 2012 Radio Academy Awards in London, Rita Ora rocked a red and white checkered get-up. Not sure if this is creative or clown-like, but it makes my eyes hurt.

At her Good Morning America visit, Gabrielle Union looked pretty in lace. She accessorized with a pair of $995 Christian Louboutin Summerissima Sandals. Cute!

Angela Simmons showed off her figure in a lace dress at the TTR World Snowboard Tour and Swatch Art Rules Competition Winning Design Event in Los Angeles. She lightened her hair a bit and accessorized with strappy peep-toe pumps. Looking good Ang!

John Legend stuck to the classic black and white color palette at the Entertainment Weekly and ABC TV Upfront VIP Party at the Dream Downtown in New York City. Hot!

Beyoncé visited the cast of the musical Ghost on Broadway and looked cute in a striped blouse and shorts. Simplicity always looks good on her!

Lucy Liu was the lady in red at the CBS Upfront 2012 at Lincoln Center in New York City. She paired a plunging neckline, pearl-accented dress from Marios Schwab’s Fall 2011 collection with $905 Charlotte Olympia Dolly Metallic Leather Slingbacks. As much as I adore Charlotte Olympia anything, the shoes wash out her bottom half! A strappy burgundy or black platform sandal would have worked wonders here.

Radio personality Egypt Sherrod and her husband were spotted at ATL Live on the Park in Atlanta, alongside Keri Hilson. Her hair and makeup are flawless and I’m feeling her metallic and sequin look, though the clutch is a bit confusing here.

Along with Rita at the 2012 Radio Academy Awards in London, Alexandra Burke left little to the imagination in a long shimmering black gown with sheer insets. Totally perplexed by this look and her hair, but I’ll give her an A+ for makeup!

Joyful Drake kept it neutral at the Wendy Williams show in a $742 Herve Leger Smoke Bandage Dress and nude pumps. This look needed a little uplifting with more of a statement shoe, but Joyful definitely looks fab in the dress!

Kim Kardashian traveled overseas to London and went for a touch of the exotic in a Lanvin snakeskin sheath dress (almost identical to this piece) and ankle wrap pumps. Work Kimmy! Flawless.

Maya Rudolph went bold in a leopard print dress and embellished pumps while at the NBC Upfront Presentation in New York City. She looks beautiful and her red lip and shiny hair are the perfect complements. I’ve never seen her look this good.

Alongside Maya, NeNe Leakes also made an appearance at the NBC Upfront Presentation. She kept it simple in a blouse and trousers, offset with her fave accessory: her Birkin bag. NeNe’s skin is glowing! I’m used to form-fitting silhouettes and sky-high Loubs from her, but I like her pared-down look here.

Khloe Kardashian went casual in a stripe maxi dress and flat sandals while out and about in LA. Relaxed, yet put-together: how could anyone go wrong in this look?

Sofia Vergara looked ladylike at the Univision Upfronts in New York City. She wore a black flare trench, Christian Louboutin heels, and a pink snakeskin clutch. She looks cute and her clutch was a great way to add a pop of color to her all-black ensemble.

At the 2012 American Ballet Theatre Gala in NYC, Tamron Hall chose a strapless curved hem gown which she gave an edge with a Christian Louboutin Artemis Shoulder Bag. This look would have been perfect without the mary jane pumps: they’re a bit too office-appropriate for this glamorous event.

Wendy Williams also made an appearance at the 2012 American Ballet Theatre Gala in all-red. Wendy is giving me Jessica Rabbit here, but not in a good way. Perhaps it’s her bustier top and matching skirt: it breaks up her body when there should be fluidity here.

While at the Radio 1 Studios in London, Will Smith looked rather dapper in a casual navy look. Yummy. That’s all.

Last, but not least was Victor Cruz who got suited up at the People en Español 50 Most Beautiful Gala. Loving his suit, but he needed a charcoal shoe here to make his look complete.

Who had your favorite looks this week?
