True Blood star Rutina Wesley stepped out to celebrate the show’s 5th season in Hollywood yesterday. For the occasion, she chose a half black, half white long sleeved frock, finishing her look with a black belt, platform pumps, and a red clutch for a pop of color.
The look is very Cruella DeVil, no? Colorblocking seems to always be trending, but I’m not too sure about Ms. Wesley’s Jekyll and Hyde take. First of all, isn’t it hot in Hollywood? Where is she going in those long sleeves?
I also wish Miss Rutina opted for a more blue-based red lip. That orangey-coral base does little for her rich skin tone. But what do you think? Are you feeling her look?

did she gain weight? she looks COMPLETELY different? it’s not the hair…anyway..no. so many stylists do not know how to dress women, esp. dark complected women [in terms of color choices] and their makeup artists make it worst.

Rutina is a beautiful woman but this look is off and something about her face is off as well, that doesn’t even look like her (maybe ’cause she’s not smiling).
OT: I’m just about over my interest in this show & if her character is really gone and they don’t show enough of my Lafayette, I’m DONE.

I am so distracted by the disaster that is her make – up….no. She is so lovely. This is a shame. The hair and makeup is terrible.

I didn’t know who she was at first… She looks like a younger version of Samual Jackson’s wife,Latanya. I know bright colors can pop against darks skin,but if it’s the wrong texture and color,one could wind up looking like a cheese burger and if they have bright orange on the eyes,a cheese burger deluxe. lol
She is puffy in the face and her hands and legs look strange. She looks like she has lupus. I hope I am wrong.

Jihan, I agree with you. Since Rutina wanted to give a red lip, m.a.c.’s ruby woo probably would have looked a lot better since it’s matte and doesn’t have those orangey tones in it. I also wish she would have worn a different shoe… the one she is wearing is way too basic in my opinion.

i like it, the only thing i disagree with is her lip color, you’re a more blue based red would’ve looked better. perhaps chanel dragon would’ve done the trick!

I love the face (and lipstick), hair, and top of the dresses, but what is going on with those legs??…and the shoes don’t help. The frozen firewood comment…omg
