Solange Knowles opted for a futuristic gown by Stéphane Rolland for the 6th Annual DKMS Linked Against Blood Cancer Gala:
She pulled her hair into a slick bun, and accessorized with a gold cuff.
The Spring 2012 gown features sculptural hips and a gold detail at the waist.
Hmm…normally white pops, but this look seems dull. Perhaps Solange could have played with a bit of color with her makeup? This isn’t my favorite look.

HOT! Solange is a real beauty! I’m digging the fresh face, pulled back hair but the dress did miss the mark a tad. I’m use to color from her.
Ashanti’s makeup is lovely too buttttt she always comes off wrong with her outfit…maybe a new stylish needed? but her hair is flawless.

If the makeup was played up a little more, Solange’s whole look would be flawless. She looks great in the dress, and her hair works well with the outfit…it was just the makeup, in my opinion.

The dress looks gorgeous on Solange. She’s long and lean so it falls beautifully on her. My only critique is her makeup artist could have used a touch more concealer, other than that her look is simple elegance at it’s best. A pound of makeup is not always needed to make an outfit pop. Sometimes the garment alone IS the statement. Great look Solange!

Solange looks great in this ensemble. There’s a reason why entertainers wear a lot of make-up…so they look flawless in high wattage pictures. I think she could have done the “make-up natural” look.

Solange- For a dramatic evening gown of that nature, her stylist should have let her hair be in her usual fro or have her makeup be more dramatic with a hair in that bun.
Elle Varner – Definitely disappointed in everything. That dress and that hair bow was a NO NO. The dress seems too young for her and as if she did not know where was she attending. Whomever her stylist was, didn’t know who Elle was as a persona and needs not to be styling anymore because there should have been a much better dress that would have complimented her signature glasses.
Ashanti and Nelly – Love their get up. She looked chic and elegant. Nelly looked exquisite in his suit. It wasn’t too much

Solange fan signing on here… the look is amazing– I do wish she’d played with some eye color. She beautiful without lots of makeup but it feels like she should’ve had eye color at the very least.

She looks like she just rolled out of bed and put that dress on. She looks so washed out and tired, and did no justice to that beautiful gown. She didn’t have to “beat” her face, but she could have used a some face concealer, some under eye concealer (to lighten up her eyes), a highlight or bronzer, to add a little glow to the skin, and maybe a little liner to make the eyes pop. And her lips could have used a nude/pale pink cream lipstick. —-just my suggestions, lol.

The dress isnt the problem,it is beautiful on her.The problem is from the neck up.Her makeup is too neutral,maybe if she went with a berry colored lip or maybe tried a cat eye.Maybe even a simple pair of earrings.Her hair looks fine,but she looks tired and that is what ultimately is pulling down the entire look in my opinion

Solange’s dress is nice. These photos made me realise how much kinky hair suits her. Straight hair is blah on hair! A little more nude makeup would have been better though. Can Ashanti retire please? Not like she’d be particularly retiring from anything, but just to step out of the industry entirely.

Solange was working that dress. However, she was looking really tired with no makeup. I understand the whole idea of a fresh face, but even her face looks kind of ashy and almost paler than the dress. She could have had on some moisturizer, bronzer and a little concealer for her eyes or maybe a set of eyelashes. Otherwise she would have been drop dead gorgeous. Wish she also had a contemporary pair of earrings. Oh well, still love ya Solo.
