• So it’s confirmed: Hedi Slimane will return to Yves Saint Laurent to serve as its creative director. The fashion house is set to officially announce this news today. Slimane’s first designs will be shown in June for the brand’s resort collection. Can’t wait to see what gorgeous pieces his return might bring! (WWD)
• Ananda Marchildon, the Holland’s Next Top Model winner who was dismissed from ELITE models for being too “hippy,” has won her lawsuit against the agency! The Amsterdam District Court ruled that Marchildon is due the remaining $85,500 promised to her upon winning first prize on the reality show. Apparently, Ananda’s hip measurements were 92cm at the time she was signed to the agency, and, as the ruling says; “Elite could therefore not demand she reach a hip size of 90 centimeters.” (HuffPost)
• Alexander Wang is being sued for $450 million dollars by 56-year-old Wenyu Lu, who claims he was forced to work 84-hour weeks producing clothes in a midtown sweatshop. Lu is trying to get other laborers to come forward against the designer in a class-action lawsuit. The former worker says he and more than 15 other employees were forced to work 16-hour days in a poorly ventilated, windowless 200 square foot room. Alexander Wang’s people have since denied these allegations in a statement: “The company takes its obligations to comply with the law very seriously, including the relevant wage and hour regulations, the payment of overtime to eligible employees and having a safe working environment for all of our employees. We will vehemently defend any allegations to the contrary.” Lu’s lawyer, Ming Hai, calls these alleged sweatshop conditions “a new form of slavery.” (NY Post, WWD)
• For the Louis Vuitton Fall 2012 show, models entered riding atop a giant choo-choo train. I guess Marc Jacobs used all the money he could have spent on paying his models on this! Watch as the train eases down the runway to uproarious applause. (Styleite)

that Louis Vuitton show was over!
I met Alexander Wang at a Mac party and he seemed really nice. I adore his collections and I would hate it if it were true….people have a way of manipulating the truth for attention…so be careful of what you believe in general

Where did these employees for Alexander Wang work? in Asian sweatshops? And they’re just attention-seekers? I guess if it were true, there has finally been a brave man to stand up for his rights and had found a way to find justice. I love Alexander Wang, but i hate what is sometimes behind fashion and our luxury.

@ Marthe
The fashion industry has a very ugly side to it. Wang is not the only designer being face with these allegations. Remember the Kardashians were faced with the same sweatshop scandal.
Many brands are guilty of slave labour. Nike, Addidas, Chanel the list goes on.

The quality of Alexander Wang’s products are telling – they just don’t look good. So not surprised to hear this.
