Dolce and Gabbana looked to the gilded pomp of the old Cathoic church to inspire their fall 2012 collection. From structured capes to velveteen dresses gloriously ornamented with gold trim, all emanated an aesthetic of old world excess.

As they are oft to do, the designers used a healthy dose of lace and sheer fabric, exposing bras and knickers, giving this collection a touch of sex appeal and modernity. Frilled collars and modest hemlines maintained a degree of sophistication.
The collection takes a colorful, somewhat spring-y turn, with a series of ornately printed floral frocks and separates. Dolce & Gabbana pay homage to Italy’s rich artistic tradition, with fresco-printed dresses depicting chubby cherubs playing amongst vases of blooming flowers. A few pieces recalled images of renaissance tapestries, following the floral motif of the collection. One jacket featuring embroidered parrots added a dose of whimsy to the collection.
This is a pretty strong collection. It has the glamor we expect from an Italian design house, as well as a range of pieces that individually possess their own visual interest. I’m sure we will be seeing those gold emoridered frocks on more than one red carpet, and on the cover of many a magazine.
Do you love it?

i LOVED this runway. The Dolce & Gabbana runways have really been doing it for me lately. I think Gold, and gold details and accents are going to be trending…if that hasn’t already been established.

I’m so in love. Dolce & Gabbana at their most artistically finest. The sheer showing the models flesh but in such a respectful way, the gold is striking and stunning alongside the soft ancient frills… Definietly in love.

I am wondering how such a great designers can get into a suspicious business… Dolce and Gabbana opened a storein Kiev in Mandarin Plaza owned by Semion Mogilevich, a top most wanted Russian gangster. Bad move, my favourite designers…
September 25, 2012 8:17 am
I have already read something in internet about this. D&G works together with the criminals. I am not surprised. Dolce & Gabbana want to make money and this is the fastest possibility. Mandarin Plaza and Semion Mogilevich why not?
September 25, 2012 9:18 am
Thats nothing new- dirty money stinks. Dirty business stinks as well. I hope that Dolce and Gabbana after opening their store in Kievs Mandarin Plaza owned by a russian Mafioso Mogilevich will feel how much stinky business it is. I am so soirry for them, truly! It is goinna be a scandal.

I love the italian designers duo and I am so sad by reading all this comments. I already checked through the internet and it is full of commenbts regarding this terrible case, and also tax evasion. Why dolce and gabbana decided to make a deal with russian mafia??? And Semion Mogilevich and his Mandarin Plaza in Kiev, why?
September 25, 2012 9:53 am
I love so much Dolce and Gabbana. I am really sad about it. I hope Dolce and Gabbana didn’t know that Mandarin Plaza be owned by a criminal Mogilevich.
September 26, 2012 7:15 am
Selia, all people in Ukraine know that Mandarin Plazas owner in Kiev is a dangerous gangster. So I am sure that Dolce and Gabbana knew it by opening a store there. Thats really disappointing, even not shocking. Remember what they did in Hong Kong at the store opening, all this racist action aghainst locaL PEOPLE? I used to love their fashion as I am a fashion journalist ,but i am beginning to look carefully who is the designer that makes all these outfits. Is he still a designer or maybe a criminal, like Mogilevich or whatever…

I am so sad. Dolce and Gabbana working together with the Russian mafia. I know only one thing about the russian gangsters – they are brutal. It can destroy a good reputation of D&G, maybe not in West Europe or USA, but sure in all East Eorope countries

It’s a pity that D&G will be helped by the organized crime. But I’ll still buy there. :)
September 26, 2012 9:20 am
Yes, of course, some people will buy by D&G even then they know that D&G are working together with such person like Mogilevich !
September 26, 2012 9:30 am
it makes me sad that high fashion will be used for something criminal. I like the fashion from D&G and I will buy there… But that leaves a bad impression. But that leaves a bad impression. It will be better that I did not know that D & G is working with Mafia :(

It seems like one person wrote about 19 of the 24 comments. Like, I read comments of commenter(s) on this blog top to bottom and the dialog did not follow. Its obvious one person is trying to inform us of some wrong doing.
