Weekend Makeup Ideas: Steal Three Looks from the 5th Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon
By The Fashion Bomb Staff

Wherever your weekend plans take you, here are three makeup ideas straight from the Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon:

1. Nicole Ari Parker’s Smudgy Eye Liner and Coral Lips: Grab a super black pencil like Cover Girl Queen Collection Vivid Impact Liner in Midnight and smudge it either with the edge of a makeup wedge or your fingers then slide on a creamy peach lipstick like MAC Lipstick in Ravishing.

2. Kerry Washington’s Bold Cheeks and Bold Red Lip: Sweep on a bold hued blush like NARS Blush in Taos on the apples of the cheeks and then a highlighter like NARS Blush in Albatross to the tops of the cheekbones. Finish with a shimmery red gloss like Milani Haute Flash Full Coverage Lipgloss in Hot Flash.

3. Sharon Leal’s Mauve Lip and Eye Moment: Blend a metallic cranberry-hued eyeshadow like MAC’s aptly titled Cranberry eyeshadow on the lid and under the lower lash line then dot the inner corners of the eyes with a highlighting shade like MAC Rice Paper eyeshadow. Use the same shade to highlight the brow bone area. Finish the eyes with black liner and 2-3 coats of mascara. For the lips, a rosy pink like Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Pur Couture in #9 Rose Stiletto topped with a shimmery gloss like NYX Mega Shine Lip Gloss in Gold Pink.

Will you try any of these looks this weekend?

Nicole looks old and tired in this pic. Kerry looks cute.

  2. Dom says:

I think Nicole would be one of those women who actually look younger with just a little bit more weight on.

  3. Marthe says:

i may try the last look for tomorrow, my boyfriend loves pink!

  4. Kay says:

Kerry is gorg! I can’t stop looking lol.

  5. Leaving a comment says:

Kerry’s eyebrows need a good threading..

  6. Lea says:

I do not agree with the recs for Kerry’s look regarding the lips. I would have suggested MAC lip liners Wine or Burgundy, then Revlon Certainly Red lipstick or Mac “Mac Red” lipstick. A clear gloss on top applied lightly. That Milani suggested looks nothing like what Kerry has. hth

  7. binks says:

    Love Sharon look

  8. Danielle says:

@Lea yes, it does. I have the Hot Flash shade, a red with metallic shimmer in front of me. The program I used for the pictures doesn’t always have a pic of the exact shade, but the shade I mentioned will definitely get you close to Kerry’s lip look and without breaking the bank.

  9. MissRich.com says:

love the looks!! Red lip is perfect for any day

  10. LuvinTrey says:

Im so scared to try a red lip but Kerry’s looks really pretty and Sharons lip color is cute as well. Any suggestions for a similar shade for darker skinned girls? Thanks:)

  11. ShiShi says:

Kerry always looks good with red lips.

  12. Danielle says:

@LuvinTrey it has more to do with undertone than skin tone. I did a post on how to choose a red lip here: http://fashionbombdaily.com/2010/06/25/weekend-makeup-idea-bright-red-lip/

  13. Joanne_ says:

@Dom, i agree, btw, her hair is dreadful here! *deep sigh*
Kerry looks awesome, loving that red lip
