For Fall 2012, Frida Giannini of Gucci bet on black, working the somber tone into oversized cropped leather jackets, sharp tailored dresses, and velvet maxi skirts equipped with high slits. Gone were the eye catching jewel tones or gilded fringes of season’s past. Fall 2012 has a dark and serious tone, yet still skews decadent in the details: lush printed silks and jacquards played on pencil skirts while draped wool capes cast striking silhouettes.

For those who cling to color, Giannini offered silken skirts, halter gowns, and sheer harem pants printed with pops of yellow and green flowers:

Dark olive green and burgundy also made appearances on ruffled blouses and skirts, which were accented by dark berry lipstick and peep toe suede heels.

Cuts were loose and looks were voluminous and layered–a true departure for a brand known for its high level of sensuality. For those who wanted that old thing back, Giannini provided a series of show stopping gowns, which boasted deep v-necks, sheer black tulle, and welcome flashes of leg:

Hated it. the prints looks dated like an old 70′s sofa not the usually sleek sexy Gucci as well it kinda look like E. Armani.

I’ll be honest, I’m not wowed. I truly feel like I seen it before rather recently. Maybe its the lighting, but I’m sure I’ll be head over heels with some pieces soon enough!

I really really like this. I love dark colors with a pop of color for Fall so I am really feeling this line. Very sensual and classic. “Gucci this, guccie that, guccie errrthang!”

I like some of the short dresses, and the cape. However, overall I want to classify this as a collection with Morticia Addams as the designer’s muse.

This color colletion is too dark plus the models look haggard.
