Though we’ve been caught up in the whirlwind of international fashion weeks, we still can’t forget about our indie designers!
I took a break from the show schedule to dip into LA for an Essence Women in Hollywood Luncheon, and caught up with Angel of Concrete Loop who put me on to handbags by Nneka Saran:

The cute clutches, created by Hampton University graduate Nneka Mosley, come in a host of fun colors and on trend designs. Check out a few of my faves:
Most bags are oversized, so you can fit all your essentials inside. I can see wearing any of these with a neutral outfit, and making the clutch the centerpiece.

@ kitty b. Is the size of the bag relative to the price? So a small chanel shouldn’t cost $3000? I’m just asking…..what justifies the price for you?

Are these leather? If so, definitely a good price! Thanks for the info!

Wow! These handbags are super cute! I can’t believe the designer makes each bag by hand! These are one of a kind statement peices! I have a two bags already! (I forgot to say that earlier).

these are actually cute and priced pretty well since they are originals.

@Stace as bougiehippie these are originals so the price fits them well. I was able to speak with Nneka in ’09 through Myspace (when everyone was on Myspace) and everything she makes are hande made and no item is the same, also each item is limited which means you may NEVER see someone with YOUR bag and the compliments I receive are ENDLESS!
The bags are spacious, well made and different. Take a chance and get one, you love it :)

I really like these but as a student can’t justify the price! Seems like a simple enough DIY project though, thanks for the inspiration Claire.

Gorgeous clutches!!!

As a proud owner of 7+ Nneka Saran bags, I receive compliments each time I wear them.
I would CHALLENGE Jo to 1) Design then 2) create a handbag/clutch that REMOTELY resembles any Nneka Saran handbag/clutch before dismissing the hard work and attention to detail that goes into each piece. Lastly, if the price is an issue, you’re not the target demographic!
