Two words best describe Catherine Malandrino’s Fall 2012 collection: femme fatale. The woman who wears her looks has always been confident and powerful– now she’s also irresistible. Fantasy meets functionality meets fearlessness: the collection was the perfect blend of these three elements, creating a collection of awe-inspiring looks that were sometimes proper and sometimes very naughty which was exactly what Malandrino had in mind. She took inspiration from the 1982 remake of the film, Cat People, an erotic horror film in which the female protagonist transforms into a leopard after a sexual awakening.

Clearly the trend is to go bold for Fall and like other designers, Malandrino called on eye-catching hues and colorblocking for the season.
Fur added a touch of luxury in the form of neck warmers, jacket collars and sleeves and on a multicolor cropped vest.
The sensuality oozed from the clever ways Malandrino chose to show skin. Sheer gowns, mesh blouses, clever cutouts: the woman who wears these looks must not only love her figure, but must also love flaunting it.
Last but not least were two dresses that will be sure to grace the red carpet this season: a kelly green number with a plunging neckline and ruffle hem and a one shoulder cobalt gown that shows its share of leg.
I had previously given all of my New York Fashion Week love to Diane von Furstenberg, but now I feel the praise must be shared. This collection was one of the best I have ever seen from Catherine Malandrino. If this doesn’t make you want to get dressed up for every possible occasion, then I am afraid that nothing will. The looks were bold, confident and most of all fierce. I expect to see a few stylish celebrities and “It” girls in her sheer cutout dresses in the months to come.
What do you think of Catherine Malandrino’s new collection?

It’s hard for me to concentrate on the clothes when that first model was so disgustingly thin. As a naturally skinny girl, I have to say that is an outrage! She needs to eat

@Dannielle.. I agree with you.

We are cooking with gas with some of these looks….hot. But there are a handful that miss the mark completely. All in all, it’s something I’d love to wear for fall. And I agree…thin is understandable, but gaunt and almost ghoulish looking isn’t the biz.

I was struck by the distracting unattractivness of the models!! Not a pretty – or striking – face in the bunch!

More misses than hits for me. I love the fur coats and collars, especially the green and black one.

And why do designers want their models to have no expression on their faces. They look like they want to die

Love the clothes, HATE the anorexia. I CAN’T! It really caught me off guard that you guys could post these pictures and NOT recognize the emaciated models. Sad thing is, this collection is so colorful and well put together, but I can’t get over those thin ladies.
