Today’s Bombshell is Zainab from Nigeria:

She writes, “I’m a Journalism senior at the American University of Nigeria.”

“… I’m also a freelance fashion writer, a fashion blogger and stylist (you can check out my blog at www.uberchicmichi.blogspot.com.”

“My style fluctuates according to my mood, same goes for my hair, but it’s usually quirky and non conformist.”
” I love maxi dresses, bows, maxi skirts, vintage pieces and anything with an 80′s silhouette.”
” I only wear heels for special occasions, I like been comfortable. I wear short outfits because my school is located in a very hot region and that’s the best way to prevent myself from melting.”
Alright! You have an adorable smile, and hats off for keeping it comfortable. I prefer your darker locks, but maybe that’s just me.

um i’ll pass
February 7, 2012 12:46 pm
I let her make it. She’s from Nigeria so they might not have readily available all the things that we do. I’m just trying to be considerate.
February 7, 2012 12:59 pm
It’s not great but it’s not terrible. I too don’t like that wig…
@LMO that is super ignorant, As an African it’s sad that people still adhere to silly stereotypes… You have NO IDEA what we have or do not have readily available.
February 7, 2012 1:09 pm
@LMO lol, they do have readily available access to a lot of the same fashions that we do. They may not have easy access to higher end fashion (although they do have upscale boutiques that have them), but mid tier to lower end fashions is as easily available there as it is here. They even have easier access to getting things custom made for a lot cheaper than we do here. I know because I’m Nigerian :-).
I think that this is just her style right now, which I believe is pretty appropriate for a student. I think college is a great time to experiment and discover what you like and don’t like. It’s not my style, but if she likes it… more power to her. I’m definitely not a fan of the wig though lol.
February 7, 2012 1:10 pm
Ahhhhh no mam!!!! That is all…
February 7, 2012 1:12 pm
@ LMO …yes, I’m not a fan of her style but it has absolutely nothing to do with where she is from!!…I see many American bombshells sporting much crazier looks!! Stop being ignorant!
February 7, 2012 1:13 pm
Death to the wig! It’s hideous!
February 7, 2012 1:14 pm
Oh-
February 7, 2012 1:26 pm
Her style is kind of cool 4 any college student, but her wig omg is just hideous, her style is cool 4 her so be it
February 7, 2012 1:33 pm
Oh… no. That wig = sadness. Cute girl, though. Good luck with the rest of school.
February 7, 2012 1:42 pm
That wig is killing it for me….I get being quirky and unique but a yellow bob wig does not look good on anyone outside of Halloween. Too bad, because she is a cute girl with a pretty smile.
February 7, 2012 1:45 pm
that wig, that wig, THAT WIG!
February 7, 2012 1:49 pm
I need you to NEVER wear that wig again…a mess chile!!!
February 7, 2012 1:54 pm
This is a joke right??…..No, but seriously. The only outfit worth commenting about is the one with the blue blazer, cute. The wig makes her look like a cartoon character. Like….power puff girls or something. Smh.
February 7, 2012 2:07 pm
@LMO…. Ignorance is not cool. Just be cause she is from Africa doesn’t mean she gets a pass. There are alot of foolywangs right here in America that looks worse, and she is not that bad considering her being a student…minus the wig. I’ve seen worse right here in America considering”readily available all the things we do” SMH
February 7, 2012 2:23 pm
Eeeh, not my cup of tea.
February 7, 2012 2:23 pm
i like the blue dress
February 7, 2012 2:32 pm
She’s different…
February 7, 2012 2:34 pm
She has some cute pieces. I love her use of color, but I would love to see her in some heels.
February 7, 2012 2:37 pm
Yeah NikkiBellaRay..I agree, She’s different….
February 7, 2012 2:39 pm
boring to me…but it works for her im sure
February 7, 2012 2:40 pm
The wig made me smile. Every time I see it, I have a little smirk. It’s whimsy, cute and playful. I think the cut can be modified – Maybe taper and layer the hair around the face to make it look softer.
February 7, 2012 2:52 pm
she has some cute pieces… My fav looks are the last 2… CLAIRE CLAIRE CLAIRE (side eye) the texture and color of the wig are not flattering at all, but if you look at the pics with a blind eye to the wig then she isnt all that bad
February 7, 2012 2:56 pm
Is she in a witness protection program?
February 7, 2012 3:00 pm
@LMO,how ignorant.I just can’t believe you said that.Nigeria is not some weird place where people wear leaves for clothing, shame on you!
February 7, 2012 3:01 pm
@Indigo…I have no idea why you would say something like that I was drinking!!!…rotflmao…#DEAD
February 7, 2012 3:02 pm
DEAD @LMO’s ignorance. I cannot. It is too early for this bullshit. I just can’t.
February 7, 2012 3:04 pm
this gets a big no ma’am.
SN: I love when people challenge what they think is “ignorant” with more ignorance. Pointing out that you’ve seen worse in America…does what exactly? ESPECIALLY if you have no idea where LMO is from..
February 7, 2012 3:09 pm
@LMO What an ignorant statement. Go to the post office, order a passport and buy a flight ticket. Ridiculous!
February 7, 2012 3:11 pm
@Indigo……………I can’t breath LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
February 7, 2012 3:31 pm
@ lmo you’re an idiot… Now to the fashion. not my cup of tea. The hair is very distracting. Can’t say I liked any oufit. The one with the blue blazer was ok.
February 7, 2012 3:47 pm
I checked out her blog and although not my taste, there are some outfits I could actually appreciate. Def. a pretty girl. & yes, please…darling, lol..let the wig go.
February 7, 2012 3:58 pm
April Fools!!! Oh wait it’s February. Get Claire for this post! lol
February 7, 2012 4:12 pm
Pretty girl and her style is really is not bad with the exception of the wig. I went to her blog and she has a lot of cute outfits.
February 7, 2012 4:15 pm
that blue shapeless dress and that wig thou…..
I know you get a lot of emails. What made her the final choice?
February 7, 2012 4:17 pm
Seriously shes considered a bombshell of the day?? Hell no there is nothing appealing or different about her style she looks like she just threw some shit together and put it on and that blond mop on her head is a NO MA’AM it doesn’t work with your skin tone….that’s it I’m submitting my photos for bombshell of the day…and the idiot that said something about her living in africa effects her style and fashion choices please go sit down it’s plenty of Americans that she has on here that can’t dress for shit either
February 7, 2012 4:22 pm
i think shes diffent and i mite be the only one but (oh lawd) i DIG THE WIG! its a very asian inspired cut and very gaga. I coulndt personally do it but i like it on her
February 7, 2012 4:58 pm
I like that she took a chance and mixed prints. Very Daring! My favorite outfit is the tan skirt with the turquoise blazer. Style is individual and she looks unique. Two thumbs up!

February 7, 2012 5:16 pm
I’m Nigerian but this babe has to CHILL!! N.O!
February 7, 2012 5:17 pm
I think enough has been said about her so I will keep it brief:
No.
February 7, 2012 5:29 pm
I don’t get the negativity. Sure, the lighter hair is a little alternative and may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but her outfits are working for her! There is not a single outfit that doesn’t look good on her, and it’s all working together. It’s casual and chic. I love, love, love, the last outfit with the mixed patterns. And Zainab, your accessories and handbags are on point. Love them.
February 7, 2012 5:30 pm
Zainab, your hot and this definitely is your style which makes you different from that part of Nigeria but let them say what they wish coz talk is cheap and free…in africa we got swag, style, fashion which has always been glaring..pin me zainab 21E5B492
February 7, 2012 5:36 pm
Just want to point out something here….her wig is a marshmellow throw from Nikki Minaj…but that doesn’t slow down the number of Fashion Bomb requests Claire gets about Nikki. Also @ Liz, the reason people are rightly blasting LMO is that she made a comment regarding something she knows about. I know many people from Lagos (the NYC of Nigeria) that go to Europe to get their clothing, and as someone pointed out there are plenty of boutiques there in Nigeria as well. So, Liz, the point of the statement is that don’t knock a person’s attire based on where they are from/living. Plenty of NYC girls look like fools just like plenty of girls from the South look like they just walked off a runway. So have several seats down…nah, just sit on the ground indian style.
February 7, 2012 5:53 pm
I wanna know who is responsible for telling these African girls, that wearing goat yarn is fashion?…Girl, #HaveASeat
February 7, 2012 5:57 pm
CUUTEEE !
February 7, 2012 6:00 pm
@LMO that has nothing to do with her being from Nigerian, Im Nigerian and when I vistied there the people out there are wear more high fashion things than Americans wear. This bombshell is about [her own] style not about what she can and cannot afford. Its not anout where your from, its about how you work your creativity.
February 7, 2012 6:06 pm
I like her black purse, shorts, and her bright blue maxi dress…very college appropriate. As for her hair, I’d love if it were darker. I think she’d look awesome with a jet black bob. She already has such an adorable face :)
February 7, 2012 6:11 pm
O__________o …nothing looks polished. I think hair is just as important as the entire outfit…
Maybe if she switched around the pieces she might yield more flattering looks. Like the black and white blouse with the printed skirt, the leopard top with the pleated shorts and taupe sandals, or the native wear top with the light blue maxi dress with a bold waist belt that would provide separation and accentuate the waistline. Id toss the wig and leave that to those who have an actual team of stylists…it distracts from the outfits.
…pretty girl though :)
February 7, 2012 6:12 pm
@Fashionista…goat yarn? really? We’ve come so far, and yet you say some ish like goat yarn? Okay, since I like to get in the gutter every now and then…check the stats boo boo…Foreign blacks (Africans) are receiving degrees at a higher rate than American born blacks…the richest black person in the world…wait for it..wait for it….IS A NIGERIAN. Thanks for playing. Come back next time, k?
February 7, 2012 6:15 pm
uhm i think i get what @lmo is trying to say, dont think he/she is trying to make an ignorant statement. In Nigeria when it comes to casual clothing like the regular T-shirt or top and jeans you can find them readily available but they aren’t necessarily made there or designs of locals there. They are usually items that people who travel abroad bring back in bulk for transactions (i’m not saying this is always the case but most times it is) and they usually buy it on sale maybe in england for example and bring it back to Nigeria selling it for more rendering it more expensive. so yes there is a limit to the things you can find in Nigeria when it comes to casuals. But our fashion industry seems to be expanding; the way im seeing it local designers seem to be more focused on prints or traditional attires than casual clothing. theres really not that much diversity. Her styles ok nothing special..i’m actually kindda felling the wig on her even tho i wouldn’t rock it.. kapowww!!
February 7, 2012 6:18 pm
Fashionista you need to have you a seat. The average Nigerian home and in the states Oscar fashion bombshell which I am sure Claire can attest to that.Grab you a book and get educated you sound as dumb as NeNe Leakes when she said I didn’t know Cape Town was Americanized

LMBO!!!!!!!!!!!! Hilarious!!. Zainab, please burn that wig, pronto. It cheapens your look.
February 7, 2012 6:20 pm
*Oscar= is a*
February 7, 2012 6:22 pm
ps Nigeria is kindda of a super conservative country fashion there tends to be subtle..todaloo
February 7, 2012 6:29 pm
Hi everyone, thanks for your comments. I realize I have a very different and interesting style that a lot of people might not understand but I love it. And the yellow wig was just for a week, I wanted to try something spontaneous and fun. Criticisms noted :)
February 7, 2012 6:55 pm
It’s cute and different bombshell I’d say!! But the wig….yeaaa but hey if she likes it I love it!!!
February 7, 2012 6:58 pm
Some of the comments on here are beyond ignorant. If you’ve NEVER been to Nigerian, or any African country, make sure you research before you comment. I’m a PROUD Nigerian, and just b/c you get a glimpse of Zainab’s style & looks, doesn’t mean everyone in Nigeria dresses like her.
@Zainab No dey listen to nonsense, do your thang!
February 7, 2012 6:59 pm
Nigeria*
February 7, 2012 7:03 pm
@Amused… I like standing on my two very well, thank you. LMO should be blasted. Her comment was tasteless and wrong on so many levels. It could, however, be done without the comparison to American girls…and how they look worse than this girl. It adds absolutely NOTHING to your argument. Not to mention…you have NO idea where LMO is from. None of that stuff adresses why her comment was wrong or fallacious. These are straw man arguments at its best. Examples of better arguments: Anonymous 12:49, SBD4L, Lea, Manny. And your comments about the richest black and foreigners receiving degrees?! You’re the one who needs to have several seats.
For the record, I too am a first-generation American pursuing a graduate degree…lest you think I’m one of these foolish NYC girls you speak of. (I am from New York though…Queens stand ALL the way up).
February 7, 2012 7:17 pm
Where is Ashton we must be getting punked?
February 7, 2012 7:25 pm
As a Nigerian I’ll say this much, when it comes to hair we either get it extremely right or extremely wrong. There is not in between with us and hair.
February 7, 2012 7:35 pm
Love the print ensemble!
February 7, 2012 7:39 pm
This ignorance on this board about what Nigeria has vs what it doesn’t have is unreal…typical Black American’s for you!
February 7, 2012 7:43 pm
@Zainab I like the outfits, don’t like the wig. And in regards to the last pic when mixing patterns keep with the same color scheme. It tones it down a notch. And don’t be afraid to experiment more with adornments. They are what often makes the outfit, just don’t over do it. When your mind is on your studies it can be easy to regress style wise while in school. I did, lol. I see promise in you though. Like you’re trying to be conscious of silhouettes, textures, and color. Best wishes to you in your endeavors.
February 7, 2012 7:55 pm
@Cynthia…please send me whatever juju you have that allows you to see the race/nationality/location of all the posters in this comment section. Combatting ignorance with ignorance sounds like a typical idiot to me.
February 7, 2012 8:40 pm
Wow, do you people think this is Bella Naija or Linda Ikeji’s blog???Please stop combating ignorant comment with ignorance.
February 7, 2012 8:44 pm
@Liz…you mad?
LMO said “She’s from Nigeria so they might not have readily available all the things that we do” KEY WORDS “WE DO” so obviously she is not from Africa, an obviously she is not from Nigeria. Let’s suppose she is from Europe or more likely the USA…still an ignorant thing to say. Readily available implies that she would have to go through great lengths to obtain things that would wow LMO. So sorry not everyone has a F21 or HM next door. Great style has nothing to do with what you buy, but how you wear it.
And speaking of straw men, you pursuing a grad degree, does little for the overrall percentage of American born blacks who don’t get a high school degree or college degree. My point in rebutting your argument with that statement is while LMO may think Africans are not best dressed, she better check the stats and see the degrees.
February 7, 2012 8:53 pm
Hmmm
February 7, 2012 8:59 pm
lol…mad…at you, and your idiotic arguments?
never.
1) “we do” means that wherever she is from…she believes she has access to more things than Zainab, as a Nigerian. HOW does that warrant all these “American” comparisons….when she never said she was American or in America. LMO needs to get blasted…hell I’d do it for you, but you best believe they’d have nothing to do with comparisons to American chicks….because it DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!
2) I’m sure in your mind you were thinking, “Oh…this girl is responding to me because she’s American and took offense to all these Americans look worse comments”. My comment about me being a first-generation American was to prove that a) I am not “from” this country…I identify first and foremost with my parents’ country…still doesn’t make your argument any more plausible and b) you apparently seem to think the only people out there getting degrees and sh*t are Nigerian…they are not. You sound like an idiot. Someone talks about goat yarn…and you come back with the richest person is Nigerian and we getting more degrees than everyone else. Girl, BOO.
the word is, overall, thanks for playing.
February 7, 2012 9:19 pm
@Liz Reading is fundamental #Whatareyoutalkingabout?
February 7, 2012 9:31 pm
I would ask what part you didn’t understand…but I know it’s all of it. If you don’t realize how LMO could have been made to look like the idiot that she is, without the comparisons to American girls, you have problems I can’t solve. Dismissed.
February 7, 2012 9:54 pm
lol wow at the comments. At the end of the day, I don’t see how her being Nigerian means anything… The person who made the comment about ‘goat yarn’ needs a kick in the back of the head.
Anyhow, not my style of dress but, Zainab, you seem happy and comfortable so continue doing your thing.
February 7, 2012 9:59 pm
Like realllly please. If you never been to nigeria sit yo ass ALLLLL THE WAY DOWN!!! All these generalization and assumptions from people who most likely do not have a passport. I am nigerian… And when I go to visit… The “hate” in my blood boils after looking at some of these girls ensembles. But as for ms Zaniab …*sipstea* … Try again sweety
February 7, 2012 10:18 pm
Her style is cute for a college student. The wig isn’t that bad, I like it on her.
February 7, 2012 10:25 pm
So wait, to defend this woman and his fookest fashion choices we are going to bash American blacks? Okayyyy
February 7, 2012 10:44 pm
Please don’t let one ignorant comment stigmatize an entire group. That’s just as ignorant as the original comment and so are all of your generalizations. Now on to the fashions! She seems bubbly and that wig is daring. Keep growing!
February 8, 2012 12:00 am
Give @LMO a break. I def don’t agree with what was said but I don’t think any harm was meant…Anywho, back to the fashion…I have to admit that I don’t love the looks, but I’m 29 and it took me a while to find my style. I agree with @lawyerchic, she def took some risks, which is commendable (especially considering that she sent her pics to the fashion bomb)…Its not easy to put yourself out there like that. Keep probing!
February 8, 2012 12:33 am
She looks like a mess in every picture, and it has nothing to due with her being in Africa… Hot messes walk around in the US like this and worse all the time. Next
February 8, 2012 3:35 am
Whoo, my goodness (comments)! Ill stay out of this one only to say shes precious! Not my style but good for her!
February 8, 2012 7:05 am
She looks great, but that little yellow wig..hmm the style is alright, the colour doesnt work.
Pretty girl :)
February 8, 2012 9:32 am
this chic generated 80 responses well 81 if you add mine.hate her or love her she is obviously a conversation piece
February 8, 2012 9:34 am
hmmm I think we can all agree that the wig is throwing everything all the way off!. I like the blouse she has on with the brown shorts, that has the potential to be a really cute outfit but then again there is that wig throwing everything off smh. I agree with Claire the darker looks better on her….cute girl though.
February 8, 2012 10:51 am
I actually liked the wig. She’s a college student so she can get away with trying looks like that.
February 8, 2012 10:56 am
@Kel
Great point…like wine, we get better with time.
February 8, 2012 10:59 am
That back and forth argument is tackier than the wig! LOL. She is a beautiful girl, and takes risks! I LOVE it…wig n all*
February 8, 2012 11:20 am
@Amused isnt Amusing at all.
You speak about the wealthiest man in the world being Nigerian, okay, thats fine, but what do YOU have? People are always trying to prove a point, out of nothing. And in her case, out of someone elses accomplishments. This right here, is about fashion. Thats it.
MY POINT: Humble Yourself. You’ll go far! ;)
Signed,
Educated African-American Woman
February 8, 2012 11:50 am
Super cute girl!!! Her style is just that her indivdual style and it works for her. I can’t be mad at that…she’s being true to self. Now that bright colored weave/wig is a major distraction. It’s hurtful to my eyes. #JustBeingHonest
February 8, 2012 12:11 pm
oOOOOOOWI!!!! I love the sistas who are holding NAIJA/AFRICA down! Apart from lions, zebra, AIDS, deaths(`10deaths every microsecond), POVERTY, war, tribalism….we got HIGH fashion. watchutalkinbout! @ Anonymous…I cast the demon of talking ish about Afrika…amin!
She is such a cutie pie. Her style is cute. I would have wanted to see more vintage pieces doe!
February 8, 2012 12:20 pm
that blondee hair . . FAIL ! if you’re gonna do a bob ; you MUST buy good hair . lovinn the maxi dresses & skirts thoo .
February 8, 2012 2:11 pm
i cant even focus on the clothes, the hair is too distracting..in a very bad way. LMO’s comment was completely absurd & ignorant
February 8, 2012 2:57 pm
Why is there always a battle between African American women & African Women??? SMH!
Zanib – Style is fun & cute, don’t do the wig though
February 8, 2012 3:55 pm
is this a joke ?
February 8, 2012 6:51 pm
I think she’s cute! But maybe I’m biased because I’m Nigerian… LOL :) Either way, there are some really ignorant comments that I’ve seen but whatever… to each his own. I think Zainab should keep doing her thing in Naija! I like some of the things she has on.. I’m not big on the wig but I see where you’re going with it I guess? Stay beautiful and get that degree!
February 8, 2012 7:42 pm
Im actually starting to believe that Fashion Bombshell section is a joke, she looks terrible in every single shot. SMH!
February 8, 2012 8:10 pm
She’s a pretty girl with a quirky style. I see some things with the fit and shape of individual pieces but she’s working her own vibe. Kudos to her!
February 8, 2012 10:57 pm
I’m beginning to believe that this blog should require membership to post. I would be willing to register if it would help filter out the junk.
I like the outfit with the ankara top and skirt, because it really suits her shape. I’m not crazy about her other outfits, but I’m sure she’ll find inspiration on the site and resubmit later.
February 8, 2012 11:32 pm
I don’t think @LMO was trying to be rude or anything… she was simply saying that she didn’t know about the availability of clothes in that area. That’s not that outlandish… the part of virginia I grew up in is completely void of high-end trendy fashions and I would be a liar to say that I know exactly what fashions are available everywhere, so I can see where she’s coming from to a degree. She should’ve maybe been a little more careful with how she came across.
Now… for her style. It’s very regular… minus the hair. Kudos for being brave, but that hair is tragic and I don’t see it for you.
February 9, 2012 8:40 am
why do these ladies who continuously comment on these fashion bomb photos always start fucking arguing. it is pathetic and quite annoying to see every day ladies arguing back and forth with ignorance and foolishness. Shut the hell up already. stop trying to prove your dumb ass point. This is about the FASHION BOMB OF THE DAY. not about your views and beliefs. A simple ” yes i like the outfits or no i don’t like the outfits” is all thats needed. all this arguing and bickering is dumb and a waste of time.
Thanks.
February 10, 2012 1:26 pm
Oooon another note, I like it. She did say her hair was “conconformist”. I couldn’t say that I would wear her style but I think its cutsy on her.
February 10, 2012 4:57 pm
Amused you are such an idiot. You came to address someone else’s ignorance and ended up looking even more stupid yourself. Talking about rich Nigerian men and all this bs that has nothing to do with the bombshell. Log off fool.
