Happy Friday! Wow, the temperature dropped quite a bit, right? Burrrr.
Anyway, this weekend look hot even if it’s cold with luminous skin and matte lips. The contrast in finish is fresh–especially when worn with a bright lip color.

Get the look:
There’s a number of ways to get a radiant skin makeup look. You can start with a foundation primer with a luminious finish like Laura Mercier Foundation–Primer Radiance, you can add a touch of a liquid luminizer like Benefit High Beam, use a foundation with a radiant finish like NARS Sheer Glow, or add a touch of a powder of cream luminizer to the tops of the cheekbones, bow of the lip, and brow bone area with a product like Black Radiance Artisan Baked Bronzer in Gingersnap or Benefit Watt’s Up.

As for matte lips, fashion favorites include (but are not limited to) MAC Ruby Woo, Stila Long Wear Liquid Lip Color in Fiery, MAC Film Noir, Illamasqua Lipstick in Drench, MAC Lady Danger, Revlon Matte Lipstick in Stormy Pink, and Sleek True Colour Lipstick in Mystic. Get your lips ready for matte lipstick by gently exfoliating (you can easily do this with a wet toothbrush) and apply a lip balm or primer to help the color glide over the lips.

Already have a ton of cream lipsticks and don’t want to buy more mattes? Make your own! You can take a paper towel (I find tissue can tend to stick too much) to blot out the shine and dust some translucent powder over it OR pick up a product like MAC Matte, a colorless cream that acts like a powder and can make just about any makeup product matte. Apply your lipstick and then use a lip brush to apply matte on top OR make a little mix on the back of your hand with a touch of lipstick and a touch of MAC Matte and apply to the lips.
Don’t forget the blush! Try bold colors (they look absolutely gorgeous on brown skin) like Black Radiance Artisan Color Baked Blush in Warm Berry, NARS Blush in Exhibit A, MAC Blush in Dollymix, and Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Tweak are just a few to try.
