• Henry Holland and Mary Kantrantzou are the winners of the British Fashion Council‘s 2012 Fashion Awards! Both designers will receive financial backing from the BFC and a mentorship with an established designer. You know I’m a total stan for Mary Katrantzou, so I’m happy to hear this! • He conceptualized flying machines and sketched the Vitruvian Man, and it turns out Leonardo Da Vinci was also something of a fashion designer. Luxury handbag maker Gherardini has brought a sketch of a purse from the artist/inventor to life. Drawn by Da Vinci around 1497, the Pretiosa (Italian for precious) is a tooled calfskin bag, hand-embroidered and outfitted with brass hardware. There are only 90 in existence, so if you want a 500-year old design conceived by one of the greatest artists ever, I hope you have a bank account to match! (Styleite)
• Brian Atwood is extending the reach of his famed brand, delving into the handbag market. The designer has created a four-piece limited edition collection of clutches that will be available on GILT, with prices ranging from $1,050 to $1,850. Beyond this project, he also plans to create a set of larger hobo bags and totes for the fall 2012 season. Could one of Brian Atwood’s creations be the next it-bag? We’ll have to wait and see! (WWD)

• Avid couture collector Daphne Guinness(left) is being tapped once again by a luxury department store as a display subject. After famously getting dressed for the Met Gala in the Barneys store window, Parisian store Printemps is using the beer heiress’s likeness to decorate their store. Window displays featuring digital statues (sort of like holograms) of the socialite in Maison Martin Margiela, Paco Rabanne, and more will be created under the direction of photographer Nick Knight for this “Visions Couture” display, which will be unveiled February 5th. Who wants to book me a flight to Paris to see it in person? (WWD)

@Miss Smith I’ll try , but I’ve met her a few times and she barely talks to anyone. Also, last I heard she was an editorial assistant, which is an attainable feat and pretty standard for a 23/ 24 year old.
But who knows, maybe her new fame will make her more open to chatting, so we’ll see.

I guess I’m alone in this one but i dont like Julia’s style AT ALL. It just doesn’t do it for me. But i loooove her hair, though!
