Though it seem most celebs have been keeping it nice and cozy this past weekend, a few did step out for Vh1 Divas Celebrate Soul event at Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC…
Let’s see what they wore, shall we?
Lala Vazquez Anthony covered the carpet in an asymmetrical look from Laquan Smith’s LQS Eclipse Collection. She’s working the snuff out of the houndstooth top, and the hi lo skirt is the bomb. As always, hair and makeup are on point. Looking good Lala…
Mary J Blige pulled out her winter fur and proceeded to sparkle in a one shoulder Michael Kors Fall 2011 winter white gown with crystal embroidery. I’m loving how her light color palette complements her blond banged bob. She worked it for the occasion. Hot!
Jennifer Hudson also sizzled, opting for a champagne mini gown and bedazzled thigh high boots by Francesco Scognamiglio. The figure is looking great, Jenny, but this outfit, hmm….not really feeling the appliqués on the dress or those space age gold glittery stompers. Snaps, however, for stepping outside the sartorial box.
Estelle dazzled in a gold sequined Diane von Furstenberg gown, punctuated by forest green peep toes and an assortment of cocktail rings. Estelle, darling, the decolletage is stunning, but haven’t we seen you in something similar before? Hmm, perhaps it’s time to switch it up…
True diva Chaka Khan came to the event hand in hand with 50 Cent. From what I can see, both looked fly, with Chaka in a red fur and a classic black dress, and 50 in a holiday appropriate velvet blazer. Hot!
Speaking of colored fur, Jill Scott went for a dark blue topper over a cobalt gown with jeweled details for the divalicious festivities. Hmm, Jill is a gorgeous woman, but this is a bit of a color overload. And something about this ensemble reminds me of a certain cookie loving Muppet (is it just me?)…Hmm, better luck next time, Jilly.
And Emily B. showed ‘em how it’s done with an off the shoulder gunmetal gown, cinched at the waist. Understated rings completed the hot look.
Over in LA…
Jessica Alba was spotted with her hubby and kids shopping. I’m loving her laid back yet stylish ensemble. Perfect mommy duty gear for a Saturday afternoon. HOT!
Laura Govan was out spreading the holiday cheer. Her makeup looks FABULOUS and it also looks like she lost some weight (and maybe I found it *looks at little layer of flab on my tummy*). The outfit isn’t the best, but I bet she wore the green to be festive while giving back.
And finally Raven Symone was spotted with rapper Tyga giving toys to the kiddies. I’m still super salty that her show on ABC Family got canceled, but glad to see her looking cute (minus the Wonder Woman belt and the turkey feathers on her wrist). Tyga looks handsome in his all-black casual ‘fit. But then doing good always looks good ;)

Jennifer Hudson is going to be a stick in two seconds. This womoan has become obsessed with losing weight. I say this with love in my heart “Baby it’s just not for you”. Some people look good skinny and some people look good with some weight. And J Hud was one of the celebrity women who looked good with weight, along with Ms Jilly from Philly, Queen Latifah and that chic from Glee. Don’t get me wrong, i understand loosing weight for health purposes, but come on. I have yet to see more than one decent picutre of her since she has lost the weight. She should have just toned up rather than loosing all the weight completely. She’s a beutiful woman, but being skinny is just not for her. She needs to gain the weight back.

Jennifer Hudson!! I just can’t! She is a fabulous singer but just don’t do the fashion thing very well. Then what is much more annoying is I think she gets positive feedback for he fashion sense like a pity vote. You know poor little black girl. Regarding her weight we all know she’s a bit thin, it’s not becoming because the weight didn’t come off healthy. Give her sometime to become familiar with eating healthy and finding a balance. LaLa, Mary (absolutely love her), Estelle (has worn something very similar, but looks great, nonetheless), and Emily all look great! I’m kind of proud of Emily, really showing the people what she’s got, lol.
And I think enough has been said about JHud, so I won’t say much. Don’t really care about how much weight she loses, because if she were to gain it all back people would still have something to say. But! That outfit, however, was just a complex tragedy.

Okay, I see the point with regard to JHud’s boots – they are a tad much; I actually really like the dress. The boots would have been better without the layered look.
Not mad at Estelle for recycling a look – hey with all the events she has to go to, I can give a Sista a break.
Jilly from Philly’s fur should have been black – agreed, color overload!
Emily B chose well, given her shape that dress was flattering.

I’m not a fan of LaLa’s dress on her. The dress is cute, but somehow it makes her look older and matronly.
I actually think JHud’s figure looks great. Maybe im the only one (lol), but i think she looks healthy and pretty. Not a fan of the dress, only cuz we know she can do so much better.
Emily adorbs as always. To the reader who asked for a Look for Less, it’s only $500-something so not that pricey (L’Agence).
Estelle’s cleavage looks great. Not a huge fan of the dress, but i dont hate it. :-)

Jennifer Hudson and Raven Symone need to be slap—, I mean, they need an intervention, lol. There is no excuse to be going out the house looking like you can’t afford clothing that looks good and flatters your body. I LOVE Estelle, but she needs to do something different with her hair. That’s all I have the energy for, lol. I think the other comments covered the rest.

someone up top mentioned this earlier and i agree. lala’s dress is cute but it does point out her thin legs and large top. (the angle of the pic doesn’t help, either) she needs something that balances everything out. that said, she still is one of the better dressed people out of this selection.
like emily and mary’s look, as well. estelle’s hair lately, thumbs down and jennifer hudson…no words that haven’t already been said here.

JHud doesn’t need to gain weight, she needs to take care of herself… Eating the right foods make you glow.. She doesn’t glow. When trying to lose weight, and get healthy, it’s more about eating beneficial foods,than taking away foods… Black does crack, when you don’t take care of it. Slim doesn’t automatically mean you look good or young..

I love Mary, but her choice to continually wear fur disturbs me. She’s a strong, incredible woman who overcame an ugly addiction causing her pain–why can’t she give up this addiction that causes pain to others? Love the way she always changes up her hair and isn’t afraid to take risks (and sometimes winds up with some flops), can’t stand the way she covers herself in dead things that are killed for no good reason than vanity! And Chaka, too! You’re the classic, you’re an example to so many women coming up. Teach strength, and beauty from the inside out thru compassion. Drop the fur, y’all!
