Tis’ the season for garnished locs, braids, and twists Bombshells! Whether yours are short, long, or in between, here are some hair pics to help you get inspiration for your holiday ‘dos.

Curled styles are quite popular this time of year and you can get yours by setting damp hair on flexi rods. Jazz things up with decorative hair clips and scarves.

Gorgeous! My mom had the most beautiful locks until one day she got tired of them and chopped em off! :( I kinda miss seeing her hair like this.

Chescaleigh!! Love her videos. I think she’s a bonafide locs-celebrity.

This was craaazzzzy helpful. I’ve gone from my red fro which I’ve had for years and years to boho box braids and I’ve been kind of clueless on what to do! lol So exicted to wear hair ornaments and fun makeup.

Claire,
I must say your locs are amazing and they always look so freshly done! How do you do it?
Thanks for the ideas for the holidays, where do you get your locs done?

I love black girl’s locks, I’m white myself and mine absolutely don’t look so perfect as in these pictures. Mine are much thicker and sometimes very fuzzy, but i’ll try to pull off some styles i’ve seen here, this is the post I was always waiting for!

@Audrey I go two places. For regular maintenance, wash, twist, and dye, I go to Wayne Agassi Salon in BK (bonus they have spa services…facial, massage, etc):

For updos, I go to Noel New York (they did my hair for my Essence shoot):

In between I am helpless. Haha. No, but I love using Mango & Lime products, especially their loc twist gel.

i love this. in the caribbean there are so many people (male and female) with locks but it doesn’t seem to be as popular in North America. def gonna try the first look. makeup included!

Chesca! her locs rock! and vids & tutorials are sooo cute!!
Danielle, you’ve left out the infamous locs with beads/shells look! I recently put some in a few locs and they instantly give it that accessorized feel (obviously I’ve used some subtle gold, brown and amber beads that fit in with my hair colour) or you could do loc jewellery too!

LOVE the natural styles! Makes me want to go natural again.

Claire, great post! Having locs myself, I find that all too often, many sites geared toward sisters don’t really highlight locs. Nice to see you guys are. I have a TON of loc style pics from locticians I know as well as my girlfriends who have locs (somehow, many of the women in my circle do by some strange coincidence, lol); I’d love to submit them to you guys. I noticed you use JML for your maintenance. Not sure if you’ve ever tried Jane Carter Solution but if you haven’t, give her loc creme a try. it works fabulously and it doesn’t leave any residue or stiffness that can be associated with JML products. I used them for years before I switched to the natural oils used by my loctician (Nu Ade oil), now I can’t use anything else.
