• Show Review: Nanette Lepore Spring 2012

Who better than ultra-feminine designer Nanette Lepore to capture the visceral cheerfulness of spring? This year, she envisions classic ladylike silhouettes where edginess abounds. Retro cuts, clean a-line and pencil hems are prim yet full of sex appeal. Looks are updated with electric neons, pastels, and deep royal blue. Cheeky crop tops on high waistlines and cutout swimsuits compromise any potential wholesomeness. Lace and crochets anchored by pops of bare skin have modest silhouettes: the perfect foil.

The color palette cooperates interdependently, with muted pastels moderating intense neons, and hi-lighter hues buttressing pale tones.

Purple lips make another runway appearance this season alongside wet slickbacks and sunkissed skin. Shoes range from strappy platforms to flirty flat sandals. Bright baubles constructed from strips of material on see through bags obscure their contents, beautifully tying looks together.

I adore this collection, it’s just my taste! I am all about playful colors and prints with feminine cuts for spring. What do you think?
