Dries Van Nonten celebrates nature’s perennial resurrection for Spring 2012 with images of sprawling mountainscapes, hazy, saturated rainforests, and bursts of exploded floral print.
Trading last spring’s pervasive color blocking with pattern blocking, charcoal line drawings are interrupted by vibrant panels of bubbling brooks and blooming buds. Textured solids in black, white, and navy blue are brought to life with curling tendrils in damask patterns, mimicking leaves unfolding from the ends of bony branches.
Cuts further illustrate the inherent duality in this collection, from neat, streamlined silhouettes to those decidedly affected and unnatural. Looks are prim and practical on top with razor-sharp collars buttoned to the hilt, and exude flirtatious effervescence on the bottom with gratuitous ruffle and peplums.
Van Noten steps out of nature for a bit with a screen print of neon lights reading “circus circus,” bringing us out of glorious nature, back to the unnatural habitats we’ve build for ourselves.

Models walked in clean makeup and slicked back ponytails, with ribbon tie sandals, and occasionally, oval framed shades.
I love the landscapes on all the garments. What I particularly enjoy about this collection: the clothes are cut in a way I think a lot of women, even those who might have a few more curves to spare, might be able to wear. What do you think?

Alicia Keys spent a night out in NYC at Skylight Soho for the Lifetime movie premiere of Five. She rocked a black pencil skirt, geometric pumps, and Dsquared2’s Leather Sleeve Blazer.
The biker style blazer features quilted leather sleeves. Price tag – $1995.
It’s a hot piece, and Alicia certainly looked pulled together. What do you think?

The real key to having moisturized hair is to prevent added water from evaporating. To successfully manage hair moisture, you need to…
1. Repair damage to your hair cuticle
Why : The hair cuticle is the key surface which protects the inner cortex of hair. Without it, water can flow freely into and out of hair. Cuticle damage is inevitable especially if your hair is relaxed, bleached or color treated. You can reduce damage by being gentle with your hair at all times and especially when combing and drying (even when towel drying). However, all manipulation, washing and even exposure to the sun eventually affect the cuticle.
How: You can temporarily repair the cuticle and essentially patch it up by using hair conditioner. The effect lasts for one wash only, the next shampoo is designed to clean off hair and the conditoner effect goes with it.
The Science: Hair conditioner contains particles known as surfactants (which is geek speak for surface active agent). These surfactants (the agents) make their way to the hair cuticle (surface) and then stick on to the hair (the action!) and the best part of it is that the surfactants are naturally drawn to gaps in hair. Often conditioners will contain more than one surfactant. Common surfactants include behentrimonium chloride/methosulfate and stearalkonium chloride.
Use a good protein conditioner. A good protein conditioner will have hydrolyzed/hydrolized protein. This type of protein has been chopped up and can therefore fit nicely into small gaps in the hair. Some of it can even enter into hair and carry with it some water.

There was a time, perhaps around 2009 or 2010, when Rihanna’s style was flawless. Whatever she wore was an immediate must, a certified HOT on any Hot or Hmm scale.
But lately, however, it seems our three years and running Fashionista of the Year might be slipping. Let’s take a look at a few of her most recent ensembles:
Rihanna is a beauty, and can make anything look smashing…but perhaps she’s been dealing with more misses than hits as of late. Word on the street is she might be working with a new stylist. Could that explain the shift?
Check out a few of her greatest outfits from the days of yore:

Have you sensed a change? Or do would you still kill for a crack at her wardrobe?
Jennifer Hudson cut the ribbon at the Grand Opening of the Jennifer Hudson Weight Watchers Center in Chicago in a $965 Stella McCartney Black Peplum Dress:

The dark charcoal crepe dress has a boat neckline, short sleeves, a pencil skirt, and a peplum hem defining the waist. Pair it with pumps like the model, or with boots at la Jenny.
If $965 is out of your budget, you can of course get a similar look with these gems:
