Abandoning all frills and frou-frou, Max Mara brings us a spring collection of clean lines, smart silhouettes, and muted tones. Perfectly practical for the no-nonsense fashionista, the design house offers sporty looks in body clinging jersey, luxe leather, and shiny silks adding much needed dimension to minimalist looks.
The sparse color palette of sandy beiges, pearlescent whites, and blue-black is enlivened by a soft aqua hue. Sheer paneling adds a tasteful dash of sex appeal.
The real star of this collection is the knife-sharp tailoring. Blazers, pants, and skirts are cut to a T, and with so few colors and patterns in the garments, the expert workmanship is quite easy to see.
Models donned clean makeup, cheeks bronzed to emulate the initial spring tan one gets in welcoming back the sunshine, and hair slicked back in wet dreadlocks, a foil to the clinical sharpness of the collection. Models moseyed down the runway in ankle-tie platforms, with a satin shimmer for good measure.
While this collection is not usually what I would go for (you know what a slave I am to color and mixed prints,) I can definitely appreciate the cleanness of the looks, those super sharp silhouettes. What say you, Bombers?
