• Our days of free booze, hors d’oeuvres and overcrowded streets on Fashion’s Night Out may be over. The people at Vogue claim the event creates too much work for them during one of the busiest weeks of the year for the fashion world. Some large retailers say they are losing money from the event, as many people come out for the complimentary drinks and celeb sightings, instead of doing any actual shopping. I’ll admit, I had every intention of shopping this FNO, but once I got to SoHo, I was completely discouraged and overwhelmed by the crowds. Smaller shops say the event increases their revenue, but this is America, so who cares about servicing small businesses and encouraging their growth when corporate fat cats are losing money? What say you, bombers, should they do away with the event, or would you like to see it stick around? (NYPost)

• Good luck getting those Missoni for Target items you ordered off the Target website! Racked is reporting that orders will be delayed for weeks, and a few may be canceled altogether. What an example of exceptional planning and preparation from the people at Target.com! (Racked)

• A Gossip Girl clothing line by Romeo & Juliet couture is on its way to Saks, Kitson, and Neiman Marcus. With prices ranging from $80- $200, it won’t cost the average woman too much to dress like an overprivileged Upper East Sider. (The Cut)

It would be sad to see FNO go but I can understand why they would consider doing away with it. It is impossible to shop. There is hardly any room to browse or try on clothes. I wanted to shop this year as well but the crowds were just too much for me.

I think it would be a shame to stop the event. Maybe if they held the event at a different time, it would make things a little easier, I hate fighting a crowd.

i will never like kelly’s tired wig. i wish she’d go back to her short real hair! empress did not smell good to me and i really wanted to like it! i knew there would be issues when i logged on to the target site and it was down. i was like whoa…these people crashed the whole website over missoni.

ATL’s FNO was less than steller. I went to Phipps at like 830? and it was lackluster. few retailers participated and only Jeffrey was worth attending. I went to Sheranes Vintage Closet a boutique at like 730pm and it was the place to be, there was a 50% the entire boutique alond with appetizers and drink. I think FNO should last till midnight and it should be about deep discounts and fun. Whats the point if there arent any discounts?

pdidy and kelly they look good

@ Fly Won if ur going to have a FNO it should be late and with real discounts! I can get 30% any day! And I am to done with Target and Missoni (mostly bc I didn’t take my behind there til like 2 days later my fault I kno) I went there and it was like 3 boxes of children’s shoes, a couple of floppy hats and some tumbleweeds…I even saw a gaw (grown ass woman) attempting to try on some children’s flats..I guess if its all gone then that means everyone, they mama, and child will have it.

When i finally got online to glimpse the Taget/Missioni collection wasn’t really that impressed. Very beautiful patterns but i questioned the quality of the clothing. I saw a tan cardigan sweater that caught my eye but upon closer inspection it looked cheaply made and see thru.

I really enjoyed myself at this year’s FNO. Although it may not bring a lot of money to people, it does bring a lot of much-needed excitement to the industry. I agree with some of the other commenters who said that they should offer more discounts. If they re-strategize, then FNO could be a great success.

yes be gone with FNO..sorry..Kelly too as a matter of fact *shrugs*

I can see it coming to an end. FNO has somehow morphed into what the Labor Day parade is now, well minus the murders. It has become a bit circus-y in my humble opinion. I agree with @MissSmith though they may not want to put that much effort into it.

I totally agree with Fly Won… make it about deep discounts, exclusive new merchandise and fun. Then you get the excitement (which the industry currently gets and needs) AND the sales. It’d be really sad to see it go, it’s a unique event and the type of thing our sluggish economy needs – a morale boost.

All I wanted was that bike, but then I went to a bike store and saw one for half that price, and it had me daydreaming of Paris…and I wish Kelly’s wig would just go far far away, that is too much weave on one head!

I just checked my shipment and it all shipped with no delay..
September 19, 2011 3:49 pm
booo to target…they never have the right supplie of these designer lines…except for the dolce vita…which are still available. Nobody is going to go and wait in line early…the items are still supposed to be there when I go in to grab some diapers and babywipes…imjustsaying…

FNO NEEDS TO GO. IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN A ONE TIME ONLY EVENT FROM THE BEGINNING.

I had a blast at Fashion Night Out and I hope to God that they don’t do away with it.
Soho was crazy that evening and getting into the big retailers were impossible of you didn’t RSVP for that event.
It will be great if retailers do discounts as well as special offers so it can generate revenue for their store
To do away without this event because of complaints that can be changed will not be a smart business move

I remember The BoF calling it FNO a “big party” now, a few weeks before. I’d found that so interesting…because it’s true. I feel for retailers. Most people are coming out for the free drinks, eats,&sightings. I wouldn’t blame any for opting out of participation. I think FNO is still a Great idea. Theres never been anything like it. So as opposed to canning it all together, stores who don’t benefit should just not participate. And hopefully, if Vogue can’t handle it some other entity with large production ability can pick it up.

I will rejoice if they do away with FNO its really pointless a bunch of ‘fashionistas’ getting free Swag bags, drinks and what have you from stores they wouldnt dare step foot in on a regular day. Its preposterous.
