Weekend Beauty Hot! or Hmm…: The 2011 MTV VMAs and More!

Welp. Between Beyoncé being pregnant, me not knowing who a good 85% of the people on the stage were, and Chris Brown flying through the air like Aladdin, the MTV VMAs has a girl all jittery. Like two cups too many of coffee jittery. And don’t even get me started on Hurricane Irene. My one wish for this week is to calm D-O-W-N.

Anyway, let’s get into these looks…

I could not be happier for someone I don’t know personally and have never met (aside from the time when I was this close to her at a concert) and who knows nothing of me, but I’m all about the Bey/Jay baby. ALL ABOUT IT. The soon-to-be 30 year old singer looked stunning on the VMA red carpet. Makeup on point, hair on point, I just—iLIVE! HOT!

OK, Kelly Rowland. I love you and all so I am HOPING this foundation mismatch is some weird lighting thing that only happened to you. Everything else looks so good it would be a shame for the base to be off. I’m also going to pretend that double-sided tape isn’t showing.

Oh, Nicki. I mean, you can’t really critique a Minaj look though, right? That green shadow is pretty. OK, I really have nothing to say here…lol.

I’m not feeling Zoe Saldana‘s makeup here, but it did look gorgeous on TV. Her new movie though is excellent.

Then over at the VH1 Save the Music benefit…

I’m in LOVE with Vanessa Simmons‘ hair. Like, I’ve saved it on my hard drive and the second some cool air hits NYC, I’m getting a blow out and maybe a few tracks to duplicate this. Love how boho yet edgy it looks.

Tolula Adeyemi opted for a straight-hair ‘do. I think maybe if it were slicked back she would have rocked it more. Her skin looks great. Beautiful smile.

Tamar Braxton has some awesome brows and cheekbones. Can’t say I’m in love with her hair hat though since it takes away from the pretty.

And finally Christina Milian looked cute as a button (as usual) with her colorful yet subtle makeup look. I’m also digging her hair color–the touches of auburn and honey blonde on a dark brown base is perfect for a summer-to-fall transitional look. Hot!

Color is still key for fall, witnessed by fringed turquoise dress with black inserts, ravishing red long sleeved cocktails with sheer panels, and colorblocked crop tops offset by bright purple pants:

The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Manolo Blahnik Collaborates With Ghanaian Designer Mimi Plange, Freida Pinto Covers FLARE Magazine October 2011, and Lanvin’s Fall 2011 Campaign Video is Amazing!

• Manolo Blahnik has teamed up with Ghanaian-born designer Mimi Plange to design two pairs of shoes for her Spring 2012 collection. The shoes, said to be inspired by the leather and bead work found in parts of Africa, will be unveiled September 7 at her presentation during New York Fashion Week.

We’ll let you know when the shoes are available! I don’t know about you guys, but I I’m already in love and can’t wait to see the second pair! What do you think, are you feelin’ the shoes? (WWD)

• I still haven’t received my September issue of W, yet here is Canadian glossy FLARE‘s October 2011 cover featuring Frieda Pinto. It seems like homegirl’s been everywhere recently! (Beauty is Diverse)

• Fendi is collaborating with Maserati to build a car fit for any be-grilled rapper in the tradition of Baby. The project is for a new documentary titled The Whispered Italian Grand Tour, featuring the work of various Italian craftspeople. The car will have the obligatory leather interior, and accessories director Silvia Venturini Fendi has designed a new logo for the vehicle, incorporating the emblems of both brands. I’m interested to see what it looks like! Bombers, if you had the money, would you splurge? (Vogue UK)

• It seems everyone is following in coveted cosmetic brand M.A.C.‘s footsteps, releasing foundation lines acknowledging the many different shades in which human beings come. Chanel is the latest arrival to this party, with their Perfection Lumière foundation, a 23-shade collection which will offer its widest range of colors ever. Only 20 of the shades will be sold in the United States (weird). No word yet on when the collection is slated to release, but as details arise, we will certainly keep you posted! (Beauty High)

• In my favorite campaign video of the season, Lanvin recruits models Karen Elson (who’s actually got some rhythm), Raquel Zimmermann, Lowell Tautchin and Milo Spijkers to shake their tail feathers to Pitbull‘s Calle Ocho. Even creative director Alber Elbaz makes an appearance! (Racked)

Swagger Mondays: Vivian Spotted in Alphabet City

In case you’re wondering how exactly to take your brightly colored jeans into autumn, look no further than Swagger subject Vivian, spied in Alphabet City:

The fashionable diva followed all the ‘transition-to-fall’ rules to a tee, slipping on a pair of low cut suede booties, a black tank, and rugged black leather vest. She brought everything together with a chic studded bag. As the weather gets cooler, a full sleeved jacket would be appropriate. And sunglasses are cool year round.

Wardrobe Query: Lala’s Topshop Star Print Blouse

It seems as if Lala‘s wearing a lot of star-printed pieces these days. Reader Felicia was particularly feeling the star print blouse the TV personality was wearing out and about with her hubby. She said, “I love this blouse, please can you tell me who made it?”

When I saw the blouse, I immediately said “Topshop” turns out my initial guess was correct! Lala is wearing the retailer’s now sold out Fluorescent Star Print blouse.
