The Fashion Bomb is #86 on Signature 9′s list of 99 Most Influential Style Blogs!

    by Claire

    We’re moving on up!
Signature 9 recently re-evaluated over 500 blogs in cyberspace and named The Fashion Bomb the #86 most influential style blog in the world!

Last time I’m pretty sure we were hovering around #98 or so, so we’ve made a few gains!
None of this would be possible without the fabulous contributions of Danielle, Jihan, Vuitton, Ashley, and Whit & Whit! And it really wouldn’t be possible without the unending support of our amazing readers (muah, muah, we love you! No, really!!)
Here’s to many more years of urban fabulousness and bringing you the best of diversity in fashion.
And if you have any suggestions on how we can climb to that #1 spot, leave a comment.
    Smootches!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Sharlene from LA

    by Claire

We offer you a bit of celebrity respite with today’s Bombshell, Sharlene from LA:

The jewelry designer for Zoe Love Designs says, “My look is constantly changing but I can honestly say my style is strongly influenced by sub and ethnic cultures.”

“… It’s not a coincidence if you find some sort of tribal pattern or ankara designs in my outfit.”

” Whether I am in the mood for a 60′s look, 80′s or 1940′s styled outfit there is always an ethnic accessory or two thrown in the mix to give my outfit a tribal edge.”

“This tribal edge is what I thrive to incorporate into my jewelry line.”

Ok! Will definitely have to check out your line at www.zoelove.bigcartel.com.

Hot! or Hmm. . .: Beyonce on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight

    by The Fashion Bomb Staff

Beyonce appeared on CNN’s Piers Morgan Tonight last night in London, looking positively radiant in a bright tangerine peplum shift with light cream platform pumps.

King B. kept it simple and chic in her form-fitting orange dress, which accentuated her curves. Although the usually glam superstar opted for a more conservative look, she still managed to look fresh faced and fabulous with minimal makeup, along with her signature halo of curls, and no jewelry.

Fabulous! What say you bombers and bombshells?

Just in case you missed it, check  Bey out discussing race, babies with Jay, and her fourth solo effort ‘4′, on Itunes today!

Top fashion designers have made powerful statements about swimwear trends in 2011. Fashion’s top innovators have included a wide variety of elements to create swimwear that is fresh, sexy and fun. These elements include ruffles, bold prints and statement straps. Combined with swimwear styles that include bikinis, monokinis and one-piece bathing suits, these fashion accents define the top fashion trends of 2011.

Agua Bendita swimwear, established in 2003, feature eclectic patchwork designs including everything from religious images to symbols for good fortune. Agua Bendita swimwear combines its distinctive prints with all of this year’s vogue elements from ruffles to statement straps. This collection from one of Columbia’s top swimwear brands, features a fresh perspective on all of this season’s swimwear trends.

Maaji swimwear expresses this season’s fashion trends and so much more. From two-piece swimsuits with whimsical and mismatched patterns to one-shoulder swimsuits with bold designs, Maaji’s creative style expresses the woman wearing it.

Agatha Ruiz de la Prada swimwear is from a Spanish designer whose collection features hearts pared with bikinis. Agatha Ruiz de la Prada’s collection boasts a distinctive style with its playful patterns.

OndadeMar swimwear, also based in Columbia, showcases geometric prints on a variety of swimsuit styles and pays tribute to the brand’s Latin roots. The woman who wears OndadeMar swimwear looks both sexy and sophisticated.

Swimwear is the most powerful fashion statement a woman can make. Whether poolside or on the beach, the only way a fashionable woman can stand out is with a carefully selected swimsuit or bikini. Who Wore it Better? Lala Vazquez Anthony vs. Tracee Ellis Ross in Prada’s Lip Print Dress

    by Claire

Same pose, same dress, who wore it better?
Tracee Ellis Ross attended the 5th Annual Pre BET Awards Celebration dinner in the same Prada Lip Print Dress Lala Vazquez Anthony rocked to the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA) All-Star Gala back in February:

It seems Ms. Anthony likes to shorten hems, so she wore an abbreviated version of the Resort 2011 dress with skin toned pumps, a leopard print clutch, and diamond jewels. Tracee kept the dress knee length and brought out the red print with red pumps, a black bag, and red lips.
I like both looks but am a sucker for Tracee’s short bob and understated accessories. What do you think?

    by Claire

More pictures are rolling in from the 2011 BET Awards, along with loads of Mail Bomb requests!

Tia says, “Loved Tracee Ellis Ross’s look at the BET Awards.”

“Does anyone know who designed her lace dress? Thank you and have a blessed one!”
According to reader Artivist, Tracee revealed on Twitter that she was wearing a vintage Azzedine Alaia dress and Yves Saint Laurent Tribtoo red pumps. Stunning!
Her dress is no longer available, but you can get the look with any of these lace and red options:

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Rebecca from London

    by Claire

We’re starting off this week of Bombshells with a bang with Rebecca from London:

The Global Street Ambassador candidate for Elle Magazine & Guess Jeans says, “My style is everyday wear for everyday gurls :)”

“All my outfits are styled from pieces I bought at my local mall.”

“…I love fashion and since moving to London, I sometimes feel like I’ve died and gone to fashion heaven :)”

” London fashion is such a mix mash of cultures and styles, you’re bound to find inspiration just walking down the street.”

” My best fashion tip: Fashion is what YOU make it, be creative, be expressive, let your personality shine.”

“…I hope you like these looks as much as I enjoyed putting them together xx”

We did! See more of Rebecca at www.everydaygurl.com and vote for her to be Global Street Ambassador for Elle Magazine & Guess Jeans here.

Hot! or Hmm…: The 2011 BET Awards

    by Claire

The 2011 BET Awards went down last night at the Shrine Auditorium in LA. Nicki Minaj, Kelly Rowland, Amber Rose, oh my!

Everyone came out in their own interpretation of chic. Let’s see how they shined, shall we?
Kerry Washington looked positively radiant in an acid green silk column Michael Kors gown with a silver neck ring detail and delectably high slit. A simple slicked back pony, silver clutch, and decollete Christian Louboutins finished off the gorgeous look. Hot!

Meagan Good also went the gown route, but opted for a dramatic frock in somber black. While Kerry’s option sizzles thanks to its glorious summery color and saucy details, Meagan’s dress falls a little flat for me. It’s certainly pretty, but seems a bit too ‘prom’ like for the sizzling hot festivities. Hmm….

Ashanti also went floor length, opting for a teal satin creation with lovely beaded details. Again, I’m not wowed by the color or the silhouette. The fabric reveals all and the color is a yawn. Hmm…

Michelle Williams skewed simple in a draped jersey BCBG Max Azria dress in pretty purple, accented by green sandals. I think I would have liked the dress more sans the slight design on the hem, but she looks cute nonetheless. Hot!

Kelly Rowland worked the carpet in a pink Marchesa shift with fantastic floral ruffled details. A strappy metallic sandal would have taken this look to the next level, but the overall vibe is Hot! This color works for Kelly!

The new face of Lustersilk Letoya Luckett completed the Destiny’s Child green carpet cameos in a lacy mini dress and Christian Louboutin platform Mary Janes. The look is simple, and Letoya Luckett is way too pretty to get anything but a resounding hot!

Gorgeous actress Tika Sumpter wore a form fitting Herve Leger dress with an alluring keyhole opening at the bust.Sure, Herve seems a little safe for the carpet, but her particular option looks fresh and fiery. Hot platform Giuseppe Zanotti pumps and a red clutch completed her look.

Speaking of Herve Leger, Mary J Blige appeared in the press room in an S&M inspired nude number from the brand’s Fall 2011 collection. Hmm, not a huge fan of all the harnesses, but Mary is putting all these young’ns to shame with that body! Work it, Mary!

BET host Rocsi Diaz channeled an ice skater in a white and flesh toned thigh skimming dress more suited for the Winter Olympics. The idea of this dress is great, but the execution is making me go hmm….The ‘nude’ color of the dress doesn’t blend well with her tanned skin, thus the allure is lost. She gets an A for effort.

Couple Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose took to the carpet with Wiz in a camouflage vest, jeans, and orange sneaks and Amber Rose in a ripped contraption (is that another jumpsuit?). The outfits aren’t particularly my cups of tea, but Amber’s Versace shoes are hot!

Lala Vazquez Anthony shimmered in a sequined custom made Tom Ford gown and Jimmy Choo heels. Beyonce first debuted this look on the Tom Ford runway in a super exclusive show. I love the dress and think Lala had the right inclination to shorten it for the awards ceremony. Hot!

The fabulous Eve showed her edgy side in a Thomas Wylde leather vest, leather zip pants and funky booties. Love the hair, love the vest. The pants are giving me a little ‘pants as leggings’ vibe and I’m not 100% sure how I feel about the shoes. I’ll give her a lukewarm hot….it’s good to see her back!

Former video vixen turned singer Lola Monroe chose a Falguni & Shane Peacock abstract print long sleeve dress, strappy sandals, and a hot hairstyle! I actually really like this look. Way to show up and show out, Lola…hot!

Alicia Keys exuded confidence and sophistication in black and white Dolce & Gabbana accented by Christian Louboutin pony Daf pumps. The outfit is cute enough, but those shoes are the business. The black and white stripes may be the only iteration of Louboutin’s popular Dafs I can stomach.

Willow and Jaden Smith were absolutely adorable with the ever eccentric Willow rocking a heart shaped hairstyle and her brother stunting in tiger print pants and a Varsity jacket with MCM sleeves. Love Willow’s shout out to her Dad with the Fresh Prince tee. Snaps all around for the stylish siblings. Hot!

Nicki Minaj made a splash in a knit mauve dress with neon pink details with shaggy extensions on the hem and shoulders. Nicki is doing…Nicki as per usual, but isn’t she toasty? Why the tights and boots? I’m sweating just looking at her, hmm…

Keri Hilson proved pretty girls rock in a two toned purple and black Tibi jumpsuit. I think a black pump could have worked just a bit better with this look, but I do love the contrast of turquoise jewelry and silver cuffs. The look is effortless and event appropriate. Bonus points for the Judith Leiber mianudière.

And then we had a host of people in all white…

Fashion Bomb friend and fellow blogger Necole Bitchie looked cute as a button in a signature tutu inspired strapless and black platform pumps. I love the mirrored embellishments on the corset of the dress, and the tulle is picture perfect. Hot!

America’s got talent host Nick Cannon gleamed in a white suit, punched up by a pastel pink shirt and baby blue tie. Nick looks sharp and fresh dressed. Hot!

And veteran rapper MC Lyte also opted for a white Elie Tahari suit, accessorized by open toe sandals. Hmm, a different shoe would have truly made this look pop (perhaps a white or nude pump), but the fit is hot! Work it Ms. Lyte.

Who do you think was best dressed?
