5 Spring / Summer 2011 Trends: Crochet, Color Blocking, High Slits, and more!
By Claire

Nandi says, “I was wondering if you could do a post on the Spring and Summer trends for 2011? If you can that would be great!”
Sure thing! Though we’ve done some extensive Spring shopping posts, we have indeed neglected to break down what you’ll need to be on trend for the summer months.

Let’s take a look at five you should definitely try:

1. Colorblocking

As seen at: Gucci, Jil Sander, Proenza Schouler, Prabal Gurung, Rachel Roy, Z Spoke, Prada, and Diane von Furstenberg.

How You Wear it

Whip out that color wheel and get to coordinating! You can cop the trend by mixing solid colors or patterned prints. Have fun! Pair fuchsia with turquoise, blue with yellow, and plum with tangerine.

Take out some of the guesswork by purchasing pieces that already incorporate the trend:

2. Crop Tops

As seen at: Ohne Titel, Salvatore Ferragamo, and Damir Doma.

How to Wear it:

Though flat abs would be nice, you don’t have to have a washboard stomach to work this look! Cover your belly with a high waisted skirt or shorts and show off your rib cage. Easy and breezy.

3. Crochet

As seen at: Gucci, Christian Dior, Emilio Pucci, and ADAM.

How to Wear it:

Pop a crochet piece over a bikini or wear it over a similar colored camisole. You’ll be sizzling!

4. White Suits

As seen at: Etro, Dries van Noten, and Christophe Lemaire.

How to Wear it:

Slip on a tailored tux like Eva Marcille and June Ambrose, or go the Rihanna route in optic white-on-white.

5. High Slits

As seen at: Haider Ackermann, Martin Grant, and Rodarte.

How to Wear it:

High slits are oh so sexy! Slip on a maxi skirt with a crop top (hey why not?) or an alluring maxi dress for a beach date.

Which trends will you try?
