Real Style: The Rocawear Style Suite

    by Claire

    Morning Bombshells!

Yesterday the lovely folks over at Rocawear invited me to their Style Suite, a gathering to look at the brand’s relaunched fall line.

In between glimpsing Rocawear’s re-imagined jeans, tees, and button downs, I captured a few stylish peeps with photographer Rog Walker. You ready?

I first said hey to Gabriel of Stuff Fly People Like and Mecca from Pynk Mag. Mecca was representing fiercely with a gorgeous afro, acid washed jeans, and cute leopard print wedges. Gabe kicked back in a t-shirt and jeans.

Melissa was serving up sass in an Esprit dress and shoes from Mandee. She asked why I wanted to take her picture, and I had to admit I loved her hair, glasses, and bold accessories. Fierce!

I said hey to my new friend Bobby Roaché. If he looks familiar, it’s because he played the guy Beyonce “got another one” of in her video for “Irreplaceable.” Isn’t he cute? See him in action here and check out his modeling portfolio here.

Model and actor Kalon and Adam were also on hand to sample the new gear.

And no post would be complete without the Rocawear ladies themselves! Carmegie and Aleesha looked super chic in their readers. Aleesha was working vintage Rocawear and bangles; Carmegie flaunted a Max Azria white dress and *sick* neon sandals.

    It was fun!

If you’re wondering about what I wore, I took a few pix for a Style Diary. Stay tuned for the breakdown!

Guys, keep your eyes peeled for hotness from Rocawear at www.rocawear.com. Or just stay tuned to the Bomb:)

Try This $5 Foundation for a Flawless Look

    by Danielle

Drugstore and beauty supply store makeup have come a long way. In many instances you can find budget-friendly products that perform almost as good as if not just as well as some of the more expensive brands. Case in point: Ruby Kisses 3D Face Creator.

3D Face Creator comes in a plastic compact and each compact has two shades. This is perfect if you’re someone who’s in between shades and likes to custom blend your perfect color or if you’re into contouring. They do an awesome job of covering blemishes and as a creme foundation, you can determine your coverage amount easily. The finish is a bit luminous but you can matte it down a bit with powder. They also come in a great range of shades from light to very deep.

The texture is like a mix of liquid and creme. It’s not as thick as creme foundations usually are which makes them easier to work with and blend. It looks like it would be oily on the skin, but it dries to a semi-matte finish and feels like you have nothing on when you set it with Ruby Kisses HD Set N’ Forget Setting Powder. It wears pretty well, too. No major oil issues when set with the HD powder after eight hours of wear (I have oily skin).

Overall they have decent quality and get this—they’re only about $4-5 or so each depending on the retailer. I had no clue they were so inexpensive! Even if you come across these and have no clue what your color is, you can buy the two closest ones and still spend less than $15. And because each compact has two shades, you have your year-round color at all times. Just blend them until you get the right color particularly if you tend to tan in the summer.

You can typically find Ruby Kisses at your local beauty supply store. Be sure to also check out their website. They have some cool tutorial videos and looks you can try at home.

Have you tried Ruby Kisses before?

Show Review: Louis Vuitton Spring 2012 Menswear Collection

    by Jihan

While many fashion houses aim to take the funky road less traveled when it comes to their menswear collections, Louis Vuitton revisits classic silhouettes but updates them with bold colors and minimal but effective styling. Style director Kim Jones stays true to his commitment to incorporating an African aesthetic in his work, with bright hues of red and royal blue inspired by a Masai blanket in his personal collection at home.

Still the collection manages to take a turn for the WASP-y. We are bombarded by ascots, quilted jackets, cuffed tailored pants, and origami sandals you might only see on a warm day at the country club.

The collection offers more relaxed looks in the realm of high-end athletic wear (so to speak), taking our prepster “Conrad” from the country club lounge to its freshly painted tennis court.

The African inspiration Kim Jones said would permeate his collections for Louis Vuitton is translated as predictably as I thought. It is the blue blood on safari, the wealthy London business man stepping into South Africa to see what profit he might make on such rich soil. As clean as the looks are, it would be nice to see a collection whose African aesthetic goes beyond the superficial and predictable.

Try a Trend: American Apparel Neon Nail Polish

    by Claire

American Apparel is all about the bright neon colors this season, carrying products that let you shine all the way down to your fingertips.
Kimora Lee Honsou seems to be a fan, as she was spied rocking a delightfully cute yellow manicure reminiscent of the vibrant colors offered by AA:

She actually wears the colors quite frequently. Check out her nails as she lunched earlier this week with hubby Djimon:

I’m a fan of the color as well!

Would you try it? If so, it’s super affordable at $6. Get yours here.

Or….get a full six pack for $32 here:

*Warning, the color chips easily, so I’d recommend taking it to your local nail shop and getting a coat of gel on top!

This Week in Chic: Adrienne Bailon, Selita Ebanks, Jourdan Dunn and more!

    by Claire

    Hey everyone!

Vuitton here with a rundown of a few stars who hit all the right notes this week.  June is practically done, but before she bids us adieu, she obviously had to go out with a bang with these celeb looks.

Let’s take a look at who rocked it this week!

Gabrielle Union went for an all black ensemble with a lace dress and black booties at the New York Premiere of Transformers: Dark of the Moon.  Though the look was simple, it still ended up being chic, and that skin of hers can match no one else.  Eva Mendes looked stunning in her nude and white wrap dress and oversized sunglasses.  She tied everything together with cute bangles.  Tyrese held it down for the guys, looking dapper in a gray suit tailored to perfection.

What say you, readers? Who was your fave?

Look for Less: Kelly Rowland’s X Factor Victoria Beckham Dress and Christian Louboutin Pumps

    by The Fashion Bomb Staff

Kelly Rowland attended the X-Factor: UK auditions in Cardiff this week, donning a sizzling hot tangerine shift dress from Victoria Beckham’s Spring 2011 collection. The stunning starlet accented her eye-popping orange dress with a pair of contrasting bright blue suede Christian Louboutin Daffodil Platform Pumps.

Kelly’s delightfully rosy cheeks and nude lips, along with her black and gold cuff bracelet added a touch of edge to her vibrant look.

The Fashion Bomb News Breakdown: Dwyane Wade Is A Watch Designer, Betsey Johnson Doesn’t Know How To Use Her Cell Phone, And A Different Approach To Brooklyn Street Style

    by Jihan

    • In “Any ‘Ol Celeb Can Be A Designer” news, born-again fashionisto Dwyane Wade has designed a $20,000 watch in collaboration with luxury watch brand Hublot. Wade says “I wanted the watch to have basketball characteristics. It’s a combination of a lifestyle and a sports watch. You can dress it up or dress it down.” But at the price he’s asking, dressing down might be the only option, as you might not be able to afford food, rent, etc. for a few months after copping it. That thing better come with free diamonds! (NYDN)

    • Nigel Barker admits he is the only one of the Top Model judges who drinks at the judging table, saying “you need to drink to get through it!” We feel you, Nigel. As it sometimes seems like it takes an hour for Tyra to say “Who is still in the running to become America’s…Next…Top…Model,” I’d want to be sipping some gin and juice too! (The Cut)

    • According to Betsey Johnson‘s personal assistant, Stephanie Wagenman, the designer “...has no idea how to use a computer; she’ll say so herself… She doesn’t know how to use the address book on her phone to dial people’s numbers — I tried to show her once, and it was hilarious. She loses her phone all the time, so I have two or three backup phones for her. She’s been pretty good about keeping track of her phone lately, but she does have this one credit card that she lost a total of 56 times.” Nice to know that Betsey Johnson and my 86-year-old grandmother have so much in common. (FWD)

    • To all those ladies who say they don’t have female friends, The King B does not approve: “When women don’t have friends, I’m afraid of them… I grew up around women, I believe that we can teach each other so much. I’m always thinking about how unselfish we are and the things we need to hear and how much pressure there is being a woman.” Talk d tings dem, Yaki! (Stylecaster)

    • The New York Daily News does it again! Today they feature Brooklyn Fashionistas shopping at Atlantic Terminal, and there is not a bespectacled hipster in sight! It’s refreshing to see street style that doesn’t mimic something you’d see on Refinery29. Ten bucks says that guy on the left is Jamaican.(NYDN)
