While yellow eyeshadow is tricky to pull off for many when worn as a solid wash of color, it’s actually very cute and more workable when just a pop of it is used in your eye makeup. Scared of yellow? Try a yellow-gold instead.

Yellows to try:
MAC Eyeshadow in Chrome Yellow
MAC Pro Eyeshadow in Bright Sunshine*
MAC Pro Eyeshadow in Goldenrod*
MAC Pro Chromagraphic Pencil in Primary Yellow*
NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Yellow
NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Yellow Funk
NYX Cosmetics Eyeshadow in Mellow Yellow
How to Rock it:
You can add a pop of yellow to virtually any eye makeup look be it already bright or neutral (see The Color Wheel: How to Combine Colors in Your Wardrobe and Makeup for color combining ideas). Using a liner brush like MAC #263 (provides thinner, more precision lines) or #219 (provides thicker, more “smoky” lines) you can add color either to your lower lash line, under your lower lash line (right under your lashes), or use it as liner at the top water line.

Note: MAC brushes and makeup are mentioned because it’s easy to use Google images to find real-life pictures of them so you can scope out the shape and help you to find similar shapes wherever you shop for your makeup. You don’t have to buy MAC nor is it the end all be all but is very popular so you’re most likely to find swatches of their products online.
Do you wear yellow shadow? Would you try it if you currently don’t?

yesss for yellow eyeshadow, it’s a color i rarely wear but when i do it gives a very soft look especially when you put a nice brown in the crease a la Beyonce in the Telephone video with Lady Gaga. =)

I’m a Darkskin Sistah and for awhile thought I was the only woman of African descent who was willing to wear yellow as an everyday color. Thanks for this article and the wide range of models. I am definitely going to try some new looks

I love the color yellow, it is one of those shades that when it is done right you look hot but if it is don’t wrong… but I would wear yellow eyeshadow as an accent

Glad you gave the disclaimer about MAC not being the only options because WET & WILD, MILANI and NYX eyeshadows from the everyday drug store are kicking MAC behind in quality, price and color pigments.
GET UP ON IT!!
