Where ever your weekend plans take you, consider doing them with a purple lip.
Purple is a color that looks good on just about everybody and can be paired with almost any look from a simple eye to a smoky one.
It’s a cool way to initiate yourself into wearing color as it makes a bold statement, but is “safer” than other brighter lip colors.

My new fave purple lippie is “Flaunting It” from the MAC Peacocky collection. It’s more of a pinky purple but I think it toned down enough to wear during the week too.

I’ve been doing the purple lip for awhile now. I’m still searching for a nice, lilacey color though. I do like the one photo’ed on the main image… I know MAC is coming out with a pretty shade soon in April, so I’ll probably check that out.
I have the Make Up Forever and I love it! I use it as a liner and then fill in with fuschia.

Or you can just use a bit of your foundation, concealer, or fill in your lips with a flesh colored lip pencil to even them out and get lip color to show more “true”.

I love illamasqua underworld lipstick— the coverage is a little spotty and you have to layer to get the desired vibrance, but overall, this is my go to “purple kisses” lip color…. It took me too many unsuccessful trips to the MAC pro store in NYC for me to give up on violetta…:-(

@Dinka Don, I’m sorry you feel that way, there are numerous examples of dark women and gorgeous bright pinks, reds, soft pinks, corals, fuchsias, electrics and the list goes on. To each their own but I hope you re-explore your feelings about the varied hues and undertones of dark skin and hues and undertones of various sexy, fun, playful, vibrant lipcolors.

I actually just purchased a purple from NYX’s Black Label lipstick in Seductive & I absolutely love it. I wear it alone or I mix it with a pale pink and get an awesome pinkish/purplish shade. Great post…i am loving the purple lip these days!

I don’t normally wear bright lipstick, but you know how there are certain things that you just can’t get off of your mind? Purple lipstick is one of them. Gonna have to find the right shade, though. Hmmm….maybe.
