Real Style: Milan Fall 2011 Fashion Week Day 3

    by Claire

    Hey Guys!
So my first show today was Moschino at Via Senato. As I mentioned yesterday there aren’t a ton of women of color, but there are a select few who are here working and reviewing shows for their blogs and websites.
I first snapped Tamu McPherson, editor of street style blog All the Pretty Birds and the recently appointed online director of Grazia.it:

Even when she’s photographing stylish passerby, Tamu comes dressed to the nines.

She was working a wonderful wide legged pin striped suit, a quilted Chanel bag, and a large brimmed hat. And check out her leopard peep toes in the first pic!!

I also snapped my buddy Catherine, the mastermind behind the blog Red Carpet Fashion Awards:

She was working a Zara blazer and top, Urban Outfitters pants, and a Céline bag. Chic!

The Moschino show was fun. Lots of nautical inspired captain’s hats and double breasted peacoats, along with 90′s opulence and funk.

    Stay tuned for my review!

I’ll be hitting up the Etro and Costume National shows later today.

Until then, check out my homies’ blogs here and here for updates.

What do you think of Real Style on Day 3 in Milano?

    Ciao!

Show Review: Prada Fall / Winter 2011-2012

    by Claire

Dropped waist coats and shift dresses worn with low slung belts and below the knee boots were the call for Prada’s Fall / Winter 2011-2012 collection.

A-line and straight silhouettes pumped down the runway in tomato red, plum, teal, and forest green, accented by top handle totes and bags clutched fiercely to the chest.

3/4 length sleeves perfectly highlighted kidskin leather gloves, and large buttons and lapels danced on coats, skirts, and tops.

Miuccia showcased her signature quirk with plaid dresses and pleated skirts that gave off a Mondrian feel.

While most pieces exuded classic elegance, a few furry items gave me pause:

But the collection was ultimately redeemed with a series of vibrant hued large sequined minis, accented by knit caps and fur stoles:

Fashion Bombshell of the Day: Mia from Philly

    by Claire

    Hey Hey!

Today’s Bombshell is stylist Mia from Philly:

She says, “I would describe my personal style as the last days of summer/first few days of fall: Anything pretty much goes!”

“…It is impossible to classify my style as one specific genre so I will just refer to it as eclectic. It is my own form of self therapy. I use it to express my many facets and emotions.”

“…As a personal shopper I appreciate every style of dress. I love luxury pieces. Some favorite designers that I innately run to are Chanel, YSL, Christopher Kane, Alexander Wang and the almighty McQueen.”

“I am an average everyday working woman, so I love to mix and match my high end pieces with the affordable such as Top Shop, Zara, BCBG, H&M, Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and a few other hidden gems!!”

“My must have accessory that I believe every woman should possess is confidence. It is definitely what will make or break your look. My mantra when it comes to dressing is “fashions fade, style is eternal”-Yves Saint Laurent.”

Mia, gworl, I love that last picture! The pussy bow top and dark jeans, finished off with the Hermès belt? Work!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day is a feature showcasing the singular style and flair of Fashion Bomb Readers. Send your name, location, a description of your style, and your Fashion Bombshell of the Day Picture(s) to thefashionbomb@gmail.com.

Claire’s Obsession: After All Slippers, Ballet Flats, and Flip Flops

    by Claire

    Hey Guys!
So with all this running around fashion week, I’ve had one major savior: After all Slippers, ballet flats, and flip flops.
Similar to Dr. Scholl’s fast flats, the ballet slippers fold and fit easily into a clutch or tote bag to save your feet after a long day of pounding the pavement.

But After All Slippers are made of TWO separate soles, a flexible rubber outer sole and a cushioning inner sole for added comfort…while Dr. Scholl’s sole is made from a stretchy foam material.

I also love the flip flops for traveling. They easily slip into the front pocket of a suitcase, and are perfect to walk around hotel hallways or even poolside. They come in funky patterns like zebra, leopard, and more.

With ballet slippers retailing at $13 and flip flops at $7 for a pack of three, you really can’t go wrong!
See more and purchase at www.AfterAllSlippers.com.
*Sorry for the randomness of the Nicki Minaj pictures…what can I say, I’m random sometimes.

This Week in Chic: Chanel Iman, Amber Rose, Ciara & more!

    by Claire

Happy Thursday everyone!  Vuitton here with another perfectly styled edition of “Week in Chic”.  With Fashion Month in full swing, celebs are scattered across the globe attending shows, parties and events, dressed to the nines, nonetheless.  We even managed to catch a few of our favorites candidly as they were casually walking underneath the LA sun.  Let’s take a look!

Ciara and LaLa look effortlessly chic in their gray sweaters, boots, and leggings.  A cute, transitional look from winter to spring.  Chanel Iman looks absolutely smoldering in Gucci at the 500 by Gucci party in Milan.  Jameela Jamil and Leah Weeler gave us a bit of their inner rocker chic with fierce boots, printed dresses and leather accents.  And Kim looks sophisticated in a black A line dress with nude, studded Louboutin heels.

Who were your favorites this week?

Claire’s Life: Milan Fashion Week Day 2

    by Claire

    Hey Guys!
So today kicked off with a bang with the Fendi Fall 2011 show at Via Sciesa:

Sticking to earthtones like rust, terracotta, and cranberry, Fendi offered lots of outerwear options, from fur to crocodile to sheepskin!

The collection was cool, but I almost jumped for joy when I saw Karl Lagerfeld (or as the French call him Tonton Karl), close the show along with Silvia Venturini Fendi, head of accessories.

    Hot!

My next stop was the Krizia show at Via Manin:

The collection was a mix of fun and futuristic…think lots of silver fabrics, three peaked shouldered coats, asymmetrical dresses and jumpsuits, and blunt banged blond wigs:

    Reviews to come!

No sightings of Joan, Chanel, or Jourdan today, but the week has only just begun. And a Karl spotting? There’s no better way to start off a day.

Stay tuned for more instances from my life!

*I was rocking my Sessilee Necklace by ken + dana design.

Real Style: Milan Fall 2011 Fashion Week Day 2

    by Claire

Ok, so can I keep it real?
There are very few people of color kicking it in Milan. Aside from my blogging buddies and maybe 3 or 4 editors, there is nada. Capice?
So in the spirit of being the change I want to see in the world, I decided to diversify. I present you with Real Style Milan, Day 2:

These Italian fashionistas Greek editors for Vogue Hellas looked spot on in Balenciaga bags and straight-from-the-runway Burberry Spring/Summer 2011 jackets. Lovely on the right is actually rocking the same trench Kim Kardashian was spied in a few weeks ago. Their jackets were fierce on their own, so skinny jeans and black pumps were perfect complements to their look.
What do you think of this installment of Real Style?
