Hey Guys!
In between running to shows and interviewing models and celebs, I snapped some more Real Style.
Take a look at some of the chic I spied in and around Lincoln Center:

How could I not snap a shot of Lonell, Marquise, and Tiffany? The fierce friends were decked out in a mixture of vintage Chanel and Ferragamo, with touches of current season Givenchy, Hermès, YSL, Urban Outfitters, and Forever 21. Two out of the three have blogs or tumblrs: Lonell (far left) writes for www.rwwh.blogspot.com and Marquise (center) is the editor of www.4theloveofchanel.tumblr.com.

I next had to stop designer Brittany DeShields, whose fabulous canary coat made me get up and run after her! She designed and made the pleated skirt creation, and I already told her I wanted one. She can make them in any color, any size. Check her out at www.brittanydeshields.com.

Stylist and writer Tristan Burno looked simple and chic in an all black outfit, punctuated by a leopard YSL bag and Anne Klein shoes. Tristan blogs as well. Check her out at www.urbanromanceonline.com.

And my last subject was Fabu who looked downright fab in a vintage houndstooth cape and a bag by Emmkuo (www.emmkuo.com).
What do you think of this installment of Fashion Week Real Style?

February 13, 2011 12:56 pm
These are really unique fashion styles. You also posted a photo of my friend, editor of dapperlou.com in your Real Style: New York 1. We were very excited about it.
Thank you for taking the time to take a picture with me after the Nicole Miller fashion show. You look so beautiful in person Claire.
Merci et a bientot!

I am so loving that no one here is trendy. Everyone has their own individual style and it comes across real, fun and creative. I would love to see Brittany in a hat like Tristan’s. Maybe it’s just the picture. Everyone looks great.
I go to grad school by Lincoln Center and was going to sit by Lincoln Center and people watch but I had to go to BK. Next time.
February 13, 2011 1:46 pm
I love Brittany’s coat it is so chic.. The color pops!
February 13, 2011 1:58 pm
The guys would look great, if they were women. Mens fashion is a good thing. Embrace it!
February 13, 2011 2:35 pm
everyone here looks very soigne and interesting. i really like brittanny’s coat.
@kate i think androgyny is always a part of men’s high fashion.
February 13, 2011 3:17 pm
I am so in love with everyones style! YES!!!!
February 13, 2011 3:58 pm
I hate to be a Debbie downer, but I agree with Kate. Loves Brittany’s coat!
February 13, 2011 4:22 pm
i do not believe that there is such a thing as men’s style and women’s style…there is style period…either you have it or you don’t….a guy could rock a mini skirt if he popped it right…FAB!
February 13, 2011 5:03 pm
Loving the looks of the two ladies in pics 3&4. Especially the yellow coat. Love it!
February 13, 2011 5:03 pm
If any of these men would have sent in their pictures for Fashionbomber of the Day all hell would’ve broke loose! lol
I agree w/ lola and Kate. These men look like they’re playing dress up in their mother’s clothes and makeup…they don’t look very well put together but to each is own!
They look like they’re confident and having a good time and that’s really all that matters!
February 13, 2011 7:28 pm
Brittney’s coat gave me life, loves it!!!!!!!!
February 13, 2011 8:16 pm
what’s with the men? really has it come to this. don’t care about the sexual preference ,. but this is just a MESS. lady in yellow love your coat, look me up on ebay when you get tired of wearing it , will pay good price for it in good condition.
February 13, 2011 10:42 pm
All of these styles would have been fab if they were in women. I don’t care what your sexuality is, but you have to knw how to mix female with male pieces so it doesn’t look so womanly. It looks on point until you see the faces attached to the coats. The yellow jacket is killing me softly! I love it!
February 13, 2011 10:44 pm
$30,000.00 Hermes bag….am I just supposed to believe that lol they gotta chillll !
Love that yellow coat. She’s got talent and I def want one, hate the hat tho.
February 14, 2011 12:09 am
Claire some of your readers are so tolerant. Some gay men are fems. That’s how they like to dress. My advice to you all (edith, sunkissed, kate and lola) is to never ever go to New York. You would have a stroke walking the streets if you think the people in these pictures are shocking.
February 14, 2011 12:12 am
Fearless and I love it, not my style but I can definitely respect their swagg. Fashion is about expressing oneself, being creative and about not pleasing other people or staying abreast of the newest trends. Get it!
February 14, 2011 3:46 am
Well said Cmoni! New York is one of my favorite cities, a true melting pot.
“New York is the most fashion tolerant, fashion forgiving, fashion enabling, and fashion supportive city in the world! It’s so liberating to be here! You can be whoever you want to be and New York will embrace you. The clothes we wear send a message about how we want to be perceived. New Yorkers understand that axiom better than any population and we practice each and every day.” Tim Gunn

0_O hermes birkin’s used to be hard get and are fT still insanely expensive. Im seeing them everywhere or am I hmmm. That yellow coat is everything!
February 14, 2011 5:34 am
How I would love to be there. That yellow coat is TDF!
February 14, 2011 8:53 am
NRAW-YES! that’s why i love being a born and bred new yorker and i also think that’s why i love the androgyny in men’s fashion, it breaks all the rules and its fascinating. hell most of the fashion industry is comprised of gay men and women, and a good deal of the gay men are feminine and androgynous. if you want to see more “stereotypically” masculine men, high fashion isn’t exactly the place to look.
February 14, 2011 10:23 am
That yellow jacket is str8 BOSS!! pic 1 i would wear what they have on. IDK if men dress lik women. do u BOO!!
February 14, 2011 10:49 am
All of them are giving it up—-Just Fab!
February 14, 2011 11:12 am
I love everyone. The fact that the men are subtle with their women’s fashion makes it more forgiving. I mean its not like they are walking around in a Gaga catsuit. They are mixing masculine with feminine accessories…just simply fab. We might need to take notes LOL
February 14, 2011 2:25 pm
I don’t suggest a male dress like a female, but if its nit you don’t comment, to the people saying negative comments, comment on the style not them being male or female, worry about yourself
February 14, 2011 3:17 pm
How much is the yellow coat? I did not see it within the Collection on the website. I NEED this coat in my life?!!
February 14, 2011 5:09 pm
That coat just wont quit. love.
February 14, 2011 5:12 pm
lady in yellow coat , let me know when you ready to sell on EBAY .
February 14, 2011 5:57 pm
Women get paid 75 cents on the dollar compared to men, have to give birth and get cramps, rip or body hair from the root….can we at least have a clothes and shoes, damn! The ladies look nice.
February 14, 2011 6:34 pm
They make women’s clothing to accentuate there body type. Everyone has style I give them that, and coats are amazing. But I wish they were all women or at least drag queens lol. Think about beauty people….come on!!!
February 14, 2011 6:53 pm
Y’all really need to cut it out, none of these men look fabulous. As a fashion designer I’m all about personal style and everything it stands for, but that damn houndstooth cape, gotta go those suede shoes..death…And I really don’t know where to begin with the queens in the 1st picture…wtf is vinatage that they have on…The one guy has on a Teddy Rupskin skin coat, then the other one has on a leopard print collar shirt?? I just can’t not today they=foolywang!!
February 14, 2011 7:03 pm
Love the yellow coat.
And as for the first “look”- FAKES WILL NEVER BE IN FASHION.
Don’t think rockin a knock off is fashionable- ever. good day.
February 14, 2011 9:55 pm
The trio in the first picture looks so pretentious! It’s as if they all ordered their bags* from Beg, Borrow, or Steal and are showing off, or they took a trip to Canal Street, and once again, they’re showing off. Admittedly, I’m not an expert on fake designer bags, but they look so extra. I won’t even get into the guys’ old Hollywood glam outfits. I’m all for one being unique, but these guys really look as if they are doing the most.
*Disclaimer: I have a few designer bags of my own, so my opinion isn’t coming from a jealous place. But they’re seriously making those bags look trashy if they’re authentic bags.
Brittany’s coat is gorgeous! The color, the cut, I love it!
Tristan looks very simple and chic, and that leopard bag is nice pop to her look.
Fabu’s mumu coat is killing me softly and I’m not a fan of his bag.
February 15, 2011 2:23 am
@ chi-girl- you can have whatever opinion you want but please don’t use pejorative and homophobic language in reference to gay people.
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/queen
queen /kwin/ Show Spelled
[kween] Show IPA
–noun
4. Slang: Disparaging and Offensive .
a. a male homosexual, especially one who is flamboyantly campy.
b. drag queen.
February 15, 2011 1:18 pm
Why does everyone have to be so damn sensitive. Yes queen is slang, but the word fits the men pictured in this post so perfectly. For me and my experiences, using the word queen isn’t homophobic or necessarily offensive. Its just a way to describe a certain type of gay man.
February 15, 2011 3:45 pm
i have to agree. the guys in the top pic look like they played in their grandma’s clothes. I am all about style, but it’s gotta LOOK GOOD and make sense, even in artistic chaos… this is just… foolishness. The bags are gorgeous (albeit likely fake). They steal the show and make the rest of the group look like silly children…
The yellow jacket is a statement make OF COURSE, and I would have chased her down for a pic, as well and to find out if she could make me one in RED… (holla!) love love love love!!!
February 15, 2011 10:22 pm
@ brittany l.-queen is more then just slang, it’s most often used as a pejorative and offensive term to describe feminine gay men, or just gay men in general. the word isn’t completely devoid of it’s original intent and meaning just because YOU don’t use that way or mean it that way. i think everyone is entitled to their own opinions, particularly about fashion and style, but i think it’s totally unnecessary to use terminology that has historically been used to demean a marginalized group to relay those opinions.
February 16, 2011 12:07 am
@esme. Your reply to me is completely redundant. I stated in my comment how I felt about the word so there’s no reason for you to rehash it. And you stated in your comment that you feel like people shouldn’t use words like that so there’s no reason for you to offer a lesson again.
Sometimes I feel like you try to be a know-it-all on these boards. You don’t have to come through with the last word unless its presenting something more to the conversation.
Furthermore, I never implied that people don’t use “queen” in a derogatory or offensive manner. If anything, I implied that I didn’t think its use in these comments was wrong.
February 16, 2011 9:03 pm
brittany l.- i’m sorry if you feel what i had to say was redundant but i was EXPOUNDING upon my previous commentary as well as responding to yours. You stated that because you or others may not have intended to use queen as a perjorative term, it was not homophobic or offensive and i was stating that no matter what your intent may have been, based on how the word has historically been used in a prejudicial fashion against a marganialized group of people, it could be offensive to people anyway. oh, and i’ll say what i need to say, particularly if i think someone is using language to describe people that originated from homophobia. thanks.
February 16, 2011 9:22 pm
*pejorative
February 17, 2011 11:24 pm
I’m not going to apologize for my opinion… I’m not feeling the men’s outfits. period. It has nothing to do with their sexuality or whether or not they look androgynous… it’s more that they look like they’re trying WAY too damn hard to be “fabulous”. it looks so forced and it’s too much. it’s like the guys we see in Atlanta… too damn much. take it down a notch and it will be believable.
as for Brittany and that coat… I DIE…nuff said.
February 18, 2011 11:56 am
Derek J the hairstylist from Atlanta has started a trend. Men wearing women clothing and shoes. I know this may offend some, but it is not cute. And it doesn’t make me want to buy what they are wearing because it is not flattering.
March 9, 2011 7:13 pm
what ever who gives a flying fuck if you find “queens” offensive or not, clearly it’s you in the pic esme…I have plenty of gay friends and that’s how they acknowledge the men that are in that pic…and so I use the word how I please…This site is open for comments rather good or bad…my opinion is what it is and I’m not aplogizing or taking back what I said…so you can take your words you looked up in the dictionary and stick up your pejorative ass!!
