Valita (or V for short) said, “Our approach to style is fun and experimental, we both have distinct styles, however we aren’t afraid to experiment.”
“… We are known for our style as we are both fearless with clothes, hairstyles etc. Alex or the Niece ( my pet name for him ) has done everything from skater style to preppy and dapper to channeling Grace Jones.”
“… Although I love a tutu and enjoy a mini I like to think of my style as Bohemian Luxe with a hood twist and by hood I mean around the way. People know Alex for being ever changing.”
“…I dare to try what people say I shouldn’t especially being plus sized. I would say the Niece and I are style chamelions, but we never really blend in so I guess you could say we are ecclectic. Alex is an aspiring motivational speaker and I am a student and blogger.

Like most of you who watched the 83rd Annual Academy Awards last night, you probably would have noticed that most of our favorite celebs weren’t in attendance for the festivities, save Halle Berry and Jennifer Hudson. One would think we’d be up to our eyelids in snapshots of Fashion Bombs regulars from last night’s awards show, but even Jimmy Kimmel noticed the lack of “color” at the Oscar’s. But my fair readers, don’t fret. Our Bomb celebs still graced red carpets at Oscar related events, so as not to keep us completely in the dark. Let’s take a look see!
First up is Halle Berry in Marchesa…
The fashion gods have clearly shone their light on Ms. Berry. Finally a color other than black and a silhouette that complements her figure without showing all of it. I expected her to wear Zuhair Murad or Elie Saab, but this Marchesa gown is a refreshing change for the actress. Absolutely adore it. Hot!Jennifer Hudson was also there, sidling down the red carpet in Atelier Versace…
I adore the color on Jennifer. A nice change from all the deep hues we’re privy to see her in. Though I’m not certain about the fit at the bust and the hair…hmm. It looks like it has a life of its own to me. A less severe hairdo would’ve saved her. As per usual, though, her makeup is en pointe.Indian beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan also glided down the red carpet wearing Armani Prive…
Though the dress is beautiful, for some reason I’m still not wowed. It could be because of the simple silhouette or the fact that Aishwarya has looked better at red carpet events. I have a feeling she’ll pull out all the stops at another awards show though.Oprah Winfrey presented an award, wearing a navy embellished Zac Posen creation…
A typical silhouette for Lady O, but I do enjoy the sparkle. The dress photographs well and Oprah looks regal. Hot!And over at Elton John’s 19th Annual AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party, it seems that’s where the bulk of our faves were…
Rashida Jones was in attendance, in this blush colored gown…
Rashida chose this low cut gown with ruffles accentuating her decolletage. And despite the low cut, the dress leaves just enough to the imagination. And her makeup…to die for. Hot!Of course, Kim Kardashian had to be there…
The starlet wore a navy corseted gown with pleated details at the bust. All bias tendencies aside (because I’m sure you’re all aware of my Kim obsession), she looks amazing here. The dress fits her exceptionally well, and I love how she kept the jewels to a minimum to highlight her gown. Hot!Nicole Richie and her man Joel Madden were there…
They look as cute as ever together, but Nicole just looks smokin’ hot in this cut-out white gown, showing off that gorgeous figure of hers, post baby. Sparkly silver peep toe pumps and an oversized black clutch complete her look.And last, but not least is “For Colored Girls” star Anika Noni Rose…
The dress is simple, yes, but the color is astounding on her. But that canary yellow shoal…hmm… I trust she forgot it at the party.And there you have it.

It was the weekend of all weekends for Hollywood as the 83rd Annual Academy Awards aired last night. Despite there being a major blackout of nominees at the show, we were still able to spot celebs about and around Oscar-themed events.
Let’s see who…
You can’t really ever say anything bad about Academy Award winner Halle Berry‘s hair and makeup. This time is no exception. With perfect skin, perfectly coiffed hair, perfectly arched brows, and perfectly applied makeup–Halle looked—well, perfect! HOT.
Academy Award winner Jennifer Hudson also graced her way down the Oscar red carpet. Can’t say I’m wooing over her makeup. It’s not bad, but it’s also got no “wow” factor. Not sure how I feel about the hair. Maybe it’s the angle…
Welp. Total Foghorn Leghorn action. We’ve seen much better on the singer anticipating the release of her second album. Hmm…
“Good Morning America” host Robin Roberts looked gorgeous on the red carpet. I adore the hair and the nude lip! HOT!
Access Hollywood reporter Shaun Robinson decided to pair blue shadow with her blue gown. Teamed together with this updo, this look says 80s prom. Hmm…
Meanwhile at the 2011 Film Independent Spirit Awards…
Many of you guys said I could have kept my Kerry Washington sighting last week, but oh well. More Kerry for me! Ha!
Anyway, the actress looked stunning with her flawless skin and red lip. I love her hair, but looks like some wind got the best of her before the pic was snapped.
I love Zoe Saldana‘s hair and makeup, but she looks sleepy here, right? Has she taken a break yet from being in every other film last year?
And rounding out the Film Independent Spirit Awards, Rosario Dawson seems to be rocking the no-makeup makeup look pretty well. Her dark hair and brows that frame her face help her to pull it off. Cute!
Then at other events…
The original “Killing Me Softly” crooner Roberta Flack was out at a celebration for the late George Harrison. I adored her recent appearance on “The Wendy Williams Show” and think the legend looks great! You need to have a certain amount of life experience to rock this type of wig like Ms. Flack though.
Kelly Rowland was spotted backstage at Roberto Cavalli for Milan Fashion Week (wonder if she saw Claire?). I adore her makeup as always. Can you guys see the pretty pop of burgundy underneath her lower lash line? GORGE!
Then at BET’s Rip the Runway…
Foxy Brown. I CAN’T.
How can I breathe with no air?
There’s just not enough time to breakdown ALL the reasons why this look is wrong. *SIGH*
Lawrence of “Real Housewives of Atlanta” fame made his way down the Rip the Runway red carpet with a face FULL of makeup. Not that I have anything against boys wearing makeup, but boy is this a few sorts of wrong. Add some blot powder, take out the colored contacts, blend the obvious lip liner, and switch out those lashes and we have ourselves a look.
Video vixen and rapper Angel Lola Luv also graced the Rip the Runway red carpet. Her hair is too cute, but I really wish her face looked more like the makeup used on her décolletage. Perhaps the flash distorted the foundation color (which is why it’s good to skip anything with SPF in it for pictures or use HD formulas), but it also looks like there’s no coverage on her forehead. A better base, nix the colored contacts, and she looks cute.
And that rounds it out, folks.

Real Style: Milan Fall 2011 Fashion Week Day 4
So as I mentioned, I took a day away from fashion shows on Saturday to discover Milan. As my friends and I were walking to the Duomo, I spotted these three fashionistos, and just had to take a picture.
How could I not take a snap of their bright red shoes, funky accessories, and cool stances?
They didn’t speak much English, but their outfits spoke for themselves. They were cool and confident–unafraid to express themselves.I loved it.

Show Review: Dolce & Gabbana Fall/Winter 2011-2012
It was a play of masculine and feminine, stars and sequins, pop and rock for Dolce & Gabbana’s Fall 2011 collection, with models in silky chiffon gowns or tailored tuxes sharing the catwalk.
Star print and lace frocks were paired with ankle socks and white pumps; oxford shoes rocked with bejeweled dresses; fanny packs made a resurgence, along with paillette covered handbags.
A few take homes: pussy bow blouses and pencil skirts and ethereal halter neck gowns.

Hey Guys!
So my sojourn in Milan is almost over. I’ve been having such a good time eating pizza and pasta, trying to speak Italian, and seeing some of the best designers in the world. I finally took some time off on Saturday to do a bit of shopping and have some ‘me’ time.For my casual day, I slipped on a pair of J.Crew Trouper Pants, my fave Andrew Marc Coat, a pair of Steve Madden Berlinn boots, and a one-of-a-kind gold link necklace by ken + dana design.
I am off to Paris in a bit to meet up with Vuitton, who will be helping me cover shows for the Bomb.
