The morning routine can be rough—especially if you have to get up in the wee hours of the morning and literally have seconds to get dressed. So this is why I love the idea of a cute loose bun for work. And love that Fashion Bomb reader Maia wrote in asking to see more ways to style hair for occasions such as the J-O-B.

A loose bun is cool because it’s more “fashion” than its sleek counterpart and it doesn’t take much effort to get it. If you have relaxed hair, to get more texture without using heat, try doing your hair in pin curls the night before. Pin curls are achieved by taking sections of hair (the larger the section, the looser the curl) and wrapping it into curl much like you would if you were roller setting the hair and then securing with bobbi pins. In the morning you just take them out and finger comb.

The quickest way to get a loose bun is to gently gather the hair to the back of the head as if you’re making a loose ponytail. Then take the end of the ponytail and pin it to the “base” of the ponytail. Secure the hair at the sides of your hair with pins or decorative clips leaving some hair loose at random sections.

If you have curly or kinky hair, try using the Spin Pin–a hair pin that mimics the shape of a curl that makes pinning the hair up a cinch. If you have shorter hair, you can still get a cute look like this, just secure the hair with a few more pins.
This style is also great for in between salon visits or when the weather is just not trying to let your ‘do shine.
P.S. When choosing hair pins, look for those that are coated and “snag free” that won’t pull your hair out.
Tools of the Trade:
This was one of my favorite hairdos when I was in the corporate world. I’d sneak in a little of my personality with cute, but not distracting hair pins. What’s your favorite way to style your hair for work?
