With the holiday dress-up season quickly approaching, many of us will no doubt be decked out in some of our cutest party dresses to date. But with legs that likely haven’t seen an inch of sun (or a razor) in months, we might have some work to do.
A few days before your special event, get your legs waxed or shave them at home. You want to give the legs some time to heal in case an unfortunate incident occurs. When shaving always use a fresh razor and a moisturizing shaving cream (or conditioner if you’re in a pinch).
The day of your event, banish dry skin by gently exfoliating with a scrub like The Body Shop Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub and then follow with a rich moisturizer like C.O. Bigelow Lemon Body Cream.
If your legs are uneven in tone or you have varicose veins, try a foundation that’s formulated to tackle both your face and body like Make Up For Ever‘s appropriately titled Face and Body Liquid Foundation. I’ve seen this lightweight but powerful waterproof formula that comes in a myriad of shades cover up the most obvious of veins and give an all-over even tone. Simply apply it with a makeup wedge, your hands, or even your foundation brush and wait 15-20 mins to ensure it’s dry.
To give your legs some color and/or sheen, you can buy one of the cool bronzing or shimmer powders like Urban Decay Sparkling Lickable Body Powder or you can make your own at home by mixing some of your bronzer or shimmer product with baby oil gel.
If it’s too cold to go bare-legged, try nude panythose. Brands like Berkshire and MySkins.com offer an array of brown girl nude options.
As an added bonus to provide some comfort for weary feet decked in heels, try Foot Petals Killer Kushionz. Try their Tip Toes to avoid sliding forward in your shoes or Sole Stopperz to avoid slipping on wet or slick surfaces.
Will you be bearing your legs this holiday season?
