When we posted this image of UK singer VV Brown at this past weekend’s Black Girls Rock!, I couldn’t stop staring at her glowy cheeks. It’s such a pretty way to show off defined cheekbones or fake them.
Want to snag VV Brown’s hot cheek look? Do it with these easy steps:
1. After applying your foundation and powder (or for a lit from within look, apply your blush before powder), dust a matte coral pink blush like universally flattering on brown skin Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Tweak (see a swatch of it on me here).
2. If you were lucky enough to snag a light colored MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in shades like By Candlelight, Porcelain Pink, or Shimpagne, these are perfect for this look. If not, try MAC Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle currently available now on the MAC website. Aside from this look, any time MAC comes out with a MSF you should consider getting one. Depending on the shade they come in, they can be used as highlighters or bronzers.
If you’re MSF-less, try a luminizer like Benefit High Beam or Bare Escuentals All Over Face Powder (it doesn’t have to go all over your face) in Rose Radiance.
For liquid luminizer, take a dab of it on your fingers and apply it in a circular motion to the apples of your cheeks. Blend it out with a blush or powder brush to ensure you get an even application. For powder luminizer, use a brush like MAC #187 (aka the skunk brush) gently dust the brush into the powder and tap off any excess. Lightly brush it on the apples of the cheeks.

She looks cute with her glowy cheeks but iono if that would work for me since my skin tends to be oily in the first place

I really like her makeup, it looks very fresh and glowing. I have oily skin and I’m wondering if you would have to reapply this to make it last throughout the day? When I wear blush it seems to fade within just a few hours, would the Mineralize skinfinish help with this problem?

Thanks, ladies!
For those with oily skin, you’ll need to prep with a good mattifier or mattifying lotion. I love Cosmedicine Medi Matte (I believe it’s at TJ Maxx now) and Vichy Pro Mat to help keep oil at bay. Keep some MAC Blot Powder in your purse to help touch up shine throughout the day without interfering with your makeup :)

I use MAC’s Posey blush creme and use the infamous NARS orgasm as a highlighter. I will definitely also be trying Illamasqua Powder Blusher in Tweak as well.
